Judging by what I am seeing on my computer, Microsoft has listened. https://imgur.com/FvT8NVu Perhaps Techdows has, once again, dropped the ball. Actually no. The feature is still in Windows Defender (refer to the screenshot in the article) and it does not work. I tested it on multiple PCs, not to mention multiple feedbacks from users in the Feedback Hub.2 points -

This is the reason i stopped reporting bugs on Feedback Hub many years ago. When MS came out with insider program, i found it as a cool idea. I can "play" with latest OS and help squash some bugs as well. I reported 2 or 3 bugs in first half a year, mind you none of those 3 bugs where cosmetic, one broke IPv6 DHCP client, other one broke something with audio and 3rd one i cant remember, all those 3 bugs got in to "RTM" build and the one i was most annoyed with (IPv6) was fixed about half a year later after initial RTM. I still use insider builds, usually when i know they will become "RTM" (like 20H1 since January), however i cant be bothered to send any bugs on hub anymore... since a lot of them dont get fixed anyway, before general public adopts new version and they get much more complaints...2 points -

That's why I left the insider program. I didnt see the point in carrying on with it when so many reported bugs were being left ignored. It makes you wonder if Microsoft just set up the program to look like they were acting on user feedback. They may as well give up on the program as it's pretty obvious they aren't taking a blind bit of notice of anything anyone reports through it.2 points -

Microsoft may launch the Surface Duo in the coming weeks
Brandon H reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
CDMA is really only used in the US and on one carrier... just switch to GSM I'm a Verizon customer (Fios and VZW) and am grandfathered into Verizon's OneBill service. That aside, Verizon Wireless closed its legacy CDMA network at the beginning of 2020. Only phones that can make and receive calls over LTE are supported...so CDMA doesn't really factor in at this point. It boils down to if Microsoft decides it is serious enough about the Duo to make it available for all carriers. If the company continues to limit new mobile devices to AT&T, T-Mobile and other legacy GSM carriers that alone would speak louder as to how Microsoft really feels about the device. Their phones still drop down to 1x and 3G—that is cdma. except 3G will be shutdown by the end of the year or early next year so should it really be considered that strongly at this point? 3G is just data on cdma. 1x is used for calling at that point. They cannot shut it down without 100% LTE coverage. IDK about the other legacy CDMA carriers but that's exactly what Verizon is going for. They don't support activations on phones that don't support HDVoice anymore. https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-218813/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-218813/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-218813/ https://www.lightreading.com/m...hutdown/d/d-id/753147" rel="external nofollow">https://www.lightreading.com/m...ork-shutdown/d/d-id/753147" rel="external nofollow">https://www.lightreading.com/m...work-shutdown/d/d-id/753147 Not supporting means no new lines of service and they are specific about that wording. It doesn’t mean incompatible with existing. Well no, not for existing but this was about whether the Duo would be compatible with these networks per the first post in this comment string. Now that the legacy CDMA networks are LTE only for new devices it's a non issue. The Duo should support all major networks. Well here is the additional rub on that. Only if it supports the carrier’s LTE frequencies.1 point -

Persona 4 Golden is out now on Steam, with enhancements in tow
margrave reacted to Billus for a topic
With all the press this release is getting I'm curious about this title. I played the very first Persona on PS1 at release. Is this new title's gameplay similar? JRPG? I would say that all the Persona games are very similar in their gameplay loop. Introduction -> Dungeon -> World Exploration -> Dungeon -> World Exploration and Dungeon again. It's the storytelling that really shines in this series in my opinion. There is a limited window in which you can explore the world before being forced to complete the dungeon and move to the next part of the story. There's also the social links to work on which covey strong personal messages and struggles for each character which make it worth seeking out. One issue I do have with the game is that some of the dungeons can be a drag to navigate. Probably hurts in the later sections of the game if you need to farm when on a higher difficulty level. But there is also the auto-combat option which allows the computer to use basic attacks against mobs. Good enough when fighting weaker enemies. There's a 2-hour return window on Steam so you can try the game out without any financial penalty. You'll probably lose track of time once you start playing which is only a good thing. Overall, it is arguably my favourite Persona game. I also enjoyed the OG version of Persona 5 and will purchase Royal if it comes to Steam. I have also played Persona 2/3 on PSP but prefer Golden over those two.1 point -

Google Pixel 4a launch possibly delayed to late October
samw61 reacted to naap51stang for a topic
All "new" smartphones should be delayed. Coming out with a new phone every flipping year? Let me ask you this...I know it isn't exactly the same thing, but with the price of these things having past the "are you kidding me" price, they come out with new automobiles every year. They are just like last years model, with maybe a few added (not needed) features, higher price. Do you trade in your one year old auto for a new one every 12-24 months? Phones are "good enough" for about 99.9% of the users out there (benchmark types, bleeding edge game types not withstanding). If one thing this stupid virus crap may have done is force people for economic reasons, to evaluate "what the H*LL am I doing spending THIS much every year for a stupid phone. And for those that say I rent mine and only pay x per month. So you like paying that much EVERY month? Hey, it's your money, but wouldn't it be better to save it, so when the next crisis comes along, you'll have peace of mine knowing you don't have to worry about food, utilities etc?1 point -

NewGuy123 reacted to Gungel for a topic
One main problem remains with AMD based systems, they offer inferior options. Mostly lower end displays, slower SSD's, slower memory compared to Intel devices. Someone should really take this on and figure out why? Is it an Intel marketing scheme that includes kick-backs or is it that OEM's are afraid of falling out of favor with Intel?1 point -

Update to the above: finally figured it out. No more blue sad faces. 😁 Recently I cloned my system SATA SSD to a new NVMe SSD, and in the process must have messed up the 100 MB system EFI partition. The result was a bunch of duplicate “Windows Boot Manager” entries in the BIOS boot menu. My system would boot fine but I guess it’s not good enough for an OS update. I deleted and recreated the EFI partition, and tried the update again. It’s progressing past the first reboot! (and I'm now in 2004)1 point
