  2. Interesting. I just canceled my subscription on the 24th, and had no idea this was coming. Guess I made a wise choice, as I definitely do not watch $64.99 worth of television every month.

  4. Possible Surface Pro X with Snapdragon 8cx Plus spotted on Geekbench

Qualcomm chips are such a limiting factor, while Apple has taken a substantial lead. I wouldn't be surprised if honestly this gets killed off (again) by Microsoft. The Surface Pro X is just way too expensive, with limitations.

  5. Facebook will have its hate speech controls audited

There is no more freedom of speech in this Country to start with. Microsoft, Coca Cola and other companies with their act show they are against freedom of speech. It will be interesting how this pans out with Facebook but my advice is...avoid social media and any dealings with these companies all together.

  12. Facebook will have its hate speech controls audited

How does one really go about defining the word "Hate"? What does it include? This can't be really define giving that "hate" is just a passionate dislike for someone or someone else opinion. This means that anything and everything that gets put on the internet can be called "Hate speech".

  13. I always found this weird anyway. I want *my* photos in my Google Photos photostream, not all the ones other people send me. Sometimes I'm scrolling through my memories and see a very random photo; then after a little puzzlement I realise it must have been one that someone in a WhatsApp group I was part of posted ages ago, and who I don't even know.

Nice virtue signaling. However, many companies are cutting back on advertising during the new recession we're in, to save cash. Great PR though.

Anything you say other people don't like or it goes against policies these companies have for their Culture politics can be identified as hate speech. Trust me, just avoid it all together and mind your own business. That juice ain't worth the squeeze and if you do get in position to express your opinion just say I do not understand anything and play dumb.

To Facebook EVERYTHING is either hate speech or racism. They are like the North Korea of the social networks. If you say something they don't like even if it's just a stupid comment they either kill you (vanish your account) or jail you for a long time. There is just no more freedom of speech in that site.

  24. Sound Blaster Z / Zx / ZxR Modded Driver for Windows 10

In Windows 10 build 1803, Microsoft made some kernel changes related to hardware timers that broke a lot of device drivers and caused high latency on many systems (especially on older motherboards). Ever since then, Sound Blaster Z / Zx / ZxR series are plagued with issues such as audio stuttering, crackling, popping, and sudden channel swapping. It's been 2 years and Creative Labs hasn't done enough to fix these issues. And therefore, I'd like to introduce a modified driver based on the official software release from September 2019 and Windows Update driver release from January 2020. This release is intended to solve issues and will not bring any new features. Instructions: Temporarily disable driver signature enforcement (hold down the SHIFT key while you click on the Restart button in the start menu, select Troubleshoot, Advanced options, Startup Settings, press on the Restart button, wait for the Startup Settings screen to appear and then press on 7), extract the SFX anywhere you want, and then run setup.exe as administrator. 29. Xbox Live head Dan McCulloch is leaving Microsoft

Looks like a boilerplate American resignation announcement. The template form is like this: Saying you are living, you've made a lot of friends, it was a great opportunity, and finally, you are moving on the next best thing. Even Richard Garriott's fake resignation announcement had such a form. Only it was fake and he sued NCsoft over it. Lots of stuff follows some pre-set templet and you just fill in some blanks. Doesn't matter much in the end, 15 years is a pretty good run at a company. And there's not much left to do around Xbox Live, they've added Game Pass, and xCloud is set and on the way, job done for now.

  30. Firefox 78.0.1 [Update]

Yes, Neowin seem to do this all the time. IIRC the final binaries were released on the FTP once in the past and then pulled at the let minute due to an issue. That's some of the things I find problematic with scouring the FTP servers as an example. I'm not totally against the use of Mozilla's FTP servers for perhaps downloading Nightly Camino browser builds(when that browser was around) or to download Firefox before anyone else has it. It's just that Neowin isn't a hidden secret place on the internet and your average Joe might just stumble upon this article saying that something is released in the headline and the goes off to the races with the links and all. It's all good except when Mozilla pulls an update because of - whatever reason; perhaps security or not having fixed the appearance on the contextual menus on macOS. edit: I just think I went automatic in my rant.. not intended Agreed, i've posted comments in the past on Firefox release threads due to this. It seems to be primarily Firefox that Neowin do this with and not other software, it's strange.

  32. Firefox 78.0.1 [Update]

Firefox 78 is not out. Not officially via any public download streams. I don't think it's proper to have these announcements made when there's not a release. It might appear on their FTP server, but for the everyday-man/woman/hen/mermaid/bebop that's not the case. The next headline will probably be "Firefox 78.0.1 is released for download and you can get it now - it's available yo!"

  33. If the data is only stored locally, and never set to any Microsoft owned or influenced web address, then there really is no privacy problem with this function.

  34. If you simply go through this as intended, you are given the option for Edge *not* to import your data. But apparently, those people who kill the on-boarding process via Task Manager are ending up with Edge in an unintended state, and thus experience the "privacy violations". It's like pulling the power plug on your PC to prevent Windows from finishing an automatic update, and then complaining that "Windows updates trashed my PC". Karma.

  39. Really? This again? It was no headphone jack now no charger. No headphone jack went away very quickly and everyone else followed. No charger will do the same for the same reasons. It would be interesting to look at spy's anti apple comment history but I cant be bothered. Just because everyone else followed doesn't mean Apple did the right thing.

  41. Give Apple time to create new faux benchmarks that will make them look good. i don't recall a major company who doesn't indulge in publishing faux data to make them look good. there;s nothing wrong, it's refreshing to see the second largest desktop company ackowledge(indirectly) the need for non-intel chips in desktop space, and direct its efforts to promote the alternate ARM platform. hopefully, with sufficient support and investment, it will gain traction among users, developers and enterprises, and even if it turns out a small a chunck, it will at least see progress in chip tech and give competition to intel.

Let's hope if they do something to target "hate" speech, that it isn't just targeted speech in any one direction only. Hate can be felt in both directions. However, I see this not only limiting hate but also many interpreted grey zones too...
