  1. From Alpha, to Release, in 19 days??? What is this, the Windows Insider Programme? lol

  2. Except, that people won't mind a slightly heavier phone if means they can get a couple of hours more with their phones. When Apple talks about improved performance, improved camera, improved design, why stagnate with the same battery life? Can't they improve that too?

  3. Apple did the same with the current gen MacBook Pro too. The 10th Gen Intel chips were more efficient so it didn't impact battery life at all, while bringing down the weight of the device. I see no big deal here if they can offer the same or better battery life than the iPhone 11 Pro.

  4. They better do something, I've never liked AMD CPU's and I'm considering a 32 core threadripper right now

  5. Regardless of Apple's true motive, this move will greatly reduce useless e-waste and greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and the added weight during shipment. Think about the impact that the billions of useless 5W chargers that Apple has shipped have had on the environment in the last 13 years.

  6. Intel's 12th-gen Alder Lake CPUs might have big and little cores

Doesn’t really matter if a company can’t decide which size to use, AMD have already won the race

Agreed. All I want from them is to have my phone work indoors like my other phones do for Verizon and AT&T.

  14. T-Mobile announces its next Un-carrier event

Really? They came up with all these ways to make their plans so competitive with other carriers but in order to get all the new "cool" stuff you have to switch to the newest plan which are now really expensive and then you always lose something from your old plan. It's complete crap and don't get me started on those Tuesday deals lol.

  15. Keanu Reeves comes back as Constantine!

Movie or series? I'm assuming movie. I'd love to see a continuation of the Matt Ryan series (other than the guest parts he's played on the DC CW universe), that was getting good when it was cancelled.

  16. See my comment above at least about airports. As for airplanes, those are a little bit more craft-centric, and probably deserve some TLC to create compared to airports.
    1 point
  17. From the FAQ: Q: What airports come fully hand-crafted for each edition? A: The following is a list of customized, hand-crafted airports that come with each edition below. There will be over 37,000 airports in the sim. It's not that you don't have airports, you don't have "hand crafted" airports. Not sure how much better they are, but I'm sure it'd be moderately better than the generic? I know that my local airport isn't hand-crafted and it looks really similar to reality already.

  18. How is thunderbolt 3 relevant here? You just need USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode. They list several devices without thunderbolt 3 ports, e.g., Surface Book 2. Do not buy; the product description contradicts itself in several places.

  19. 300W Power Supply Question

Yea, all the yellows are carrying your 12V. I don't really see a problem with what you're trying to do at long as you're not exceeding the Amps. I think (and could be wrong) the wires coming out of the PSU are 20 gauge...which is ~10A rated (not factoring length of wire...the Amp rating will drop as wire gets longer). No idea what a "model railway" would require. tl;dr yea, they are carrying 12V but don't exceed overall amps of PSU or the individual wires.

  24. Can an ISP suspend service to you if they receive a DMCA notice?

I believe in the UK that downloading isn't illegal, sharing that material is illegal though as you re now the distributer. Torrents by nature are redistribution software so they can go after you for using it. If the government ever made it illegal to download then they would have to arrest so many of their own family members as its the norm for most people.

  25. Can an ISP suspend service to you if they receive a DMCA notice?

I was not worried about the legal ramifications, it was more that they suspended her service over it. I bought her a new router and the WiFi password is different then before, so hopefully that helps!

  26. While I don't mind larger batteries, Apple devices don't adhere to same battery capacity craze Android phones have. There, everyone has 4500mAh batteries now and still somehow last no longer than iPhones with absurdly tiny batteries in comparison. So, only people whining over this are mostly Android users or people who never even owned an iPhone. Given how stupid tiny battery in iPhone SE 2020 can be and still work fine through day, this tells me new A14 may be stupid efficient if they can afford to use even smaller batteries. I've had same worries after years of reading this bitching over batteries, but now that I have iPhone XR for a year and a half I can tell you that 3000mAh battery in iPhone will last WAAAAAY longer than 3000mAh battery in Android phone.

  27. Can an ISP suspend service to you if they receive a DMCA notice?

when I worked for a small business ISP I was in charge of sending out the notices and suspending connection was common practice in extreme circumstances. The onus is on the provider to take action. I would give them a 3 strike rule.

  29. So out of curiosity - why? That laptop is from what cira 2013ish? Wouldn't it be better to take any money that it would cost to replace the screen.. Plus time and effort and just get something current? It would be one thing if it was only a couple years old (out of warranty)... But a 7 year, I just don't see how putting any money into it is cost effective..

  30. iPhone 12 series to reportedly feature smaller battery than iPhone 11

Most anecdotal reports I have seen have suggested a lower price. Anecdotal and speculation, so feel free to ignore them as meaning nothing. But you then have to stand by that and do the same for the smaller battery and no charger points.

  31. Wait for one more year and you will receive iPhone without battery.

  32. I am going to be absolutely ticked off if they don't bundle a charger, let alone the EarPods. The iPhone XR and 11 were/are a great value for the money, but to remove the charger would especially be a cheap-skate and/or greedy move by Apple. I wonder how little it costs Apple to have the basic 1A chargers made.

  34. OPPO teases 120W fast wired charging tech for its smartphones

I'm not sure, in the latest revision of the USB Type-C it is stated under USB-PD that the current is configurable up to 5A (which at 20v would make the 100W), so connectors have to be able to withstand such a current flow. For me the question is, are they able to withstand more? If so, how much more? If they're making their own power delivery specification using the USB Type-C connector, and it can take more than 5A, it would be possible to reach 120W. As long as their phones are compatible with the USB-PD as well, I'm happy to see new developments.

They have to think of something a bit different in order for it to sell. Next years selling point will be 360 sound, then the 2022 model will be "enhanced targetted audio", then 2023 "enhanced directional audio" and so on.

  43. Never be ashamed of saying "all I could afford" because you're probably smarter and in a better position financially than those who spend more than they can afford. This applies to cars, graphics cards, houses and laptops. The person with a $35k car loan looks rich, but most likely will forever be in debt, when a $5k car bought from savings or a much smaller car loan would have served the same purpose and still get them from A to B! Plus with the global economy in a downward spiral, spending frugally is what we all should be doing. Spend what you have. Save what you need. But have a bit of fun in the process!

  45. Worldwide PC shipments grew in Q2, 2020 despite coronavirus

I used some of the stimulus money to purchase a new video card at first, then was running too hot in old PC case, so decided to first try for new PC case, and wait on major upgrade. But after shop informed me your old motherboards input/output shield not transferrable. I then decided to go for a newer board/cpu combo, as rest of components was compatible like Memory and all, so didn't cost me too much to score a newer case, newer motherboard, and newer cpu ((Intel I7 10700, Gigabyte B460M-DS3H, Thermaltake V200 RGB Case) and the video card was Geforce 1660 Super, ((all could afford right now)
