Twitter reveals what information was accessed in recent breach

"several famous people had their Twitter accounts hacked" No, no they didn't. Twitter's systems got "hacked" using social engineering, the accounts themselves didn't. There's a distinction.8 points -

People should just stop using it as it's already banned in a number of places from what I remember. We don't need all of these social networks as well, too many doesn't make it better in this case.3 points -

Are the owners chinese citizens? Is the parent company registered in china? If yes, then you can relocate the headquarters to mars; the PRC will still get whatever data they want and you won't be in any capacity to say no.3 points -

Lenovo Flex 5G review: The best Windows on ARM PC, but the 5G tax is way too much
domboy and one other reacted to Closed account for a topic
I don't care about mobile pc performance anymore. I do care about 12+ hours of battery. I have a surface pro 7 i5 and I'm lucky to get 5 and a half hours out of the thing. It's dreadful. I'd happily trade it for a snapdragon with 12 hours of battery, despite the performance gap. I need to be able to write, browse, and one note. That's all and 5 hours of battery for a machine that costs a grand just doesn't cut it in 2020.2 points -

TikTok's parent company mulls over relocating its headquarters outside of China

lol, if anything this risks data security of any other location they move to. Trying to take Chinese government out of tiktok when the parent company is based in China is a complete waste of time. This reminds me of "Designed in China, manufactured in London", if you get the reference.2 points -
LG K61 review: A good camera isn't enough to make it a good phone
wingliston and one other reacted to +Warwagon for a topic
LG is an embarrassment to software updates. The only reason people buy their phones is because they know nothing about software updates. They don't know which version of Android they are running. A lot of my customers tell me their phone "got an update last week" and "I haven't installed it yet". Or Were actually complaining to me that their phone just downloaded an update.2 points -
Twitter reveals what information was accessed in recent breach
dead.cell and one other reacted to Nas for a topic
What happened At this time, we believe attackers targeted certain Twitter employees through a social engineering scheme. What does this mean? In this context, social engineering is the intentional manipulation of people into performing certain actions and divulging confidential information. The attackers successfully manipulated a small number of employees and used their credentials to access Twitter’s internal systems, including getting through our two-factor protections. As of now, we know that they accessed tools only available to our internal support teams to target 130 Twitter accounts. For 45 of those accounts, the attackers were able to initiate a password reset, login to the account, and send Tweets. We are continuing our forensic review of all of the accounts to confirm all actions that may have been taken. In addition, we believe they may have attempted to sell some of the usernames.2 points -

One of the key usage models for mmWave is for line of sight 2+ gbps delivery, so it can theoretically replace a last mile fiber optic buildout to the home or a building, etc. So a router would catch the mmWave signal and then share it locally with traditional WiFi or Ethernet cable. The new satellite networks and, to a lesser extent, T-Mobile's 5G network buildout are also looking to encroach on cable. Time will tell on things like congestion, latency, etc. But ANYTHING that helps break the shared monopoly of Comcast/Spectrum in the USA is a very good thing as far as I am concerned.1 point -

It means that Twitter employees have access to our account No, it means they are capable of resetting your password and 2FA. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. You might lose your phone and lose access to your 2FA (unless you use Authy or something) etc https://www.nytimes.com/2020/0...tter-hackers-interview.html More drama, but much the same -- the employees and access to the tools were hacked first. Jesus christ... well, no wonder people are calling for nationalizing Twitter... how can such a big company have such a crappy security?!1 point -

Brony reacted to Geezy for a topic
I thought mmWave was going to facilitate device to device communication, I didn't think people were going to actually try to use it for network connectivity. Killer apps that take advantage of cross device communications don't seem to yet be common. Pushing users to upgrade due to 5G on devices won't make sense until that is established. This device might make more sense for bleeding edge development at that price rather than the end user. Maybe it is more a proof of concept device. Even if the 5G support offers some future proofing it is clear other improvements will be made in terms of both performance as well as considerations for better screens and other improvements.1 point -

America is one heck of a crappy bully, it's about time the rest of the world told them to get stuffed, as per https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53462918 "But the US is considering banning TikTok and may only allow it to keep operating if it splits from China and becomes an American company" how ridiculous and incredibly uncompetitive.1 point -

Isn't tiktok just 10seconds of 10 years olds doing stupid things for 10 seconds of internet fame? Unlike Facebook, WhatsApp, etc that mine much more data like your connections, sociopolitical views, activities and preferences, etc? What could the Chinese govt need with that, that US/UK govt all already not collecting.1 point -
