  3. Microsoft is pathetic. No vision. No style. No inspiration. Meanwhile, the competition is chipping away at its hegemony as it stumbles around aimlessly trying to find itself. They really need to fire the entire leadership team in the windows division, and look outside for people with a different perspective then maybe...

  8. People have been saying that about Surface devices since 2013, yet here we are, 7 years later, and they're making a good chunk of revenue each quarter. I am pretty sure the poster was referring to the original 'Surface', ARM device which was indeed abandoned, just like Windows Mobile. Amusing that many thought Windows 10X would be next big thing, gets worse and further away with every news drop.

  11. 1. The death rate in all of Japan has been around 4.5% and it disproportionately effects the elderly. 2. A big reason why the overall spread, especially in dense areas like Tokyo has been kept fairly under control is due to the state of emergency imposed on April 7th and lifted on May 25th, which helped contain the virus at a time when active cases and deaths were increasing at a rapid pace. The restrictions helped the healthcare system cope. And Japan has not ruled out doing a similar thing again in Tokyo if the rate of new cases continues to increase. I really don't understand how people have politicized a pandemic and basic things to mitigate it like wearing a mask and social distancing. No the media giving you some basic information about the state of the pandemic and what you can do to keep yourself and others safe is not akin to some leftist takeover that some people are making it out to be. The reason why most people (thankfully) are heeding the advice is because they want to do their part to reduce the chances of getting their friends/family, their community (especially those most vulnerable like the elderly and people who are immunocompromised), and themselves sick.

What will President Snow do with our data? But at the end of the day, Trump is just being Trump. Create fear to get support. America sounds great..

My character is fine. 😄 While I am a fair way out, my portal didn't originally link back correctly. But when the Nether was reset I think I was one of the first ones on and as a result it does link properly now.

  20. So you have such hatred for Trump that you'd rather side with a Chinese company that blatantly spies on people? That's some really sad derangement you have there... And you have proof that TikTok spies on you and that they share that data with the CCP or are you just blowing smoke ? That's also opposed to your own government who have been caught with their pants down under both parties. Also what the **** state secrets do you think 14 year old girls have anyway, do they get given nuclear launch codes when they hit puberty !?!?!?!?!

  23. They need to move Satya to the commercial side and find new leadership for the consumer side. Windows and Office is really all that's left. Agreed. At least during the Ballmer era, Microsoft was actually making an active effort to appeal to consumers. Things like Windows Live suite/services, Zune, and niche projects like Photosynth and Deepzoom helped get me a lot more interested in what Microsoft had to offer. While not majorly successful, at least they had more developers giving Windows Phone 8 a chance and creating decent if not great official 1st party apps. When Windows 10 Mobile wobbled out, it was basically gutted of some of the best unique features with only minor improvements, and it seemed most developers sensed Microsoft didn't care about the platform anymore. Surface hardware, while successful enough, would have more Apple like success if Microsoft priced more competitively or at least put more of the hardware/feature requests their fans wanted. Not to mention that Microsoft lacks an ecosystem to make seamless hardware/software integration even a possibility outside of Office.

  28. Dead Live tile with stuck progress bar Windows 10?

That's happened to me from time to time, I think it's stuck because the app updated as the live tile was going to update and it hangs. What I do is just resize it, make it smaller and then make it bigger again like you have it, it should restart and work again.

  30. I am fine with them creating a custom OS for ARM, and tablets, and always-on-devices, and everything else that is not a full blown computer desktop and laptop. But you can't just build the OS. You have to build the environment for it to live in. That means fostering a growing store of apps, and/or allowing in a large existing collection of things like Android apps. And yes, there need to be both x86 and x64 emulators, even if they are slow, to run older apps. Unless you are Apple or Google, you don't have anywhere near the ecosystem to rightfully expect consumers to buy your hardware with no programs for it. Which brings me to my second critical point: Microsoft, you have to commit to it, or don't do it at all. Publicly state that this ecosystem will be maintained and fostered by your company for at least a decade, and work to make sure that it flourishes and is a positive selling point for your product, and not its downfall. If I bought a Surface Pro X and saw this nonsense (and had to live with the compromises), I would swear off Microsoft products for good.

  34. Windows 10 has had no headliner feature since 2 years almost. Just minor tweaks here and there. Heck they haven’t been able to eliminate the legacy control panel even after these 5-6 years of W10 existence. On the other hand, Apple re-designed or updated the entire GUI of macOS Big Sur in one swoop.

I am pretty sure the poster was referring to the original 'Surface', ARM device which was indeed abandoned, just like Windows Mobile. Amusing that many thought Windows 10X would be next big thing, gets worse and further away with every news drop. He said "Surface devices" meaning more than one, so the whole Surface line. Otherwise he'd be specific and say the Surface RT. There were two Surface RT's... But yes, pointless move that basically puts this software in the trash before it's finished.

  36. Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot again, this is just a rehashed attempt at Windows RT and Windows Phones. It'll be packed up and shelved again when it flops. Mean while, regular Windows 10 gets put on hold with slow development for the next year or two. That's great, it'll give Apple a head start with their new eco system on the ARM based Mac systems that can already also run iOS apps. I don't know what Microsoft's time line is, or what they think they're doing but this isn't helping things.

  37. Hello sir, you are right. The news comments only have 4 icons because it is a different editor (one we build ourselves) while in the forums it is another software called IP Board, which gives you 21 icons. It is currently not possible to embed tweets or videos in the news comments like it is possible in the forums.

  38. Dead Live tile with stuck progress bar Windows 10?

Does anyone know what causes it and how to fix it? Windows 10 is so buggy That is the news tile, I also get it with Your Phone which comes and goes, and that app is its own little joy of bugginess, randomly freezing and failing to sync or even open.

  39. How do you get low powered with an i7 10600K?/10700T? Just boggles my mind. I never trust those "best motherboard" guides, they are so biased. What you need to do is look at what you NEED. I mean the components that are built into the board.

  40. They already have the per-system installation working fine with the VDI installation package. Just get the Teams team to talk to the Edge team about how they've done their update mechanism and end the madness. 👏Binaries 👏don't 👏belong 👏in 👏%userprofile%. Also, update that accursed Electron engine. Being built on JavaScript is bad enough, but underpinning that with a literal two-year old version of Chromium is pitiful.

While i was on a sync'd up some new nether portals for homes that i could find and had a portal, now you wont arrive at Steves base every time. I did Spawn, Nuculi, Jessica and mine. I added tunnels between them made it a little bit more open so you aren't just greeted with a wall. I couldn't find your portal Slugsie but I'm assuming you are far enough out that yours would spawn right anyway.

I think he just hates Jeff Bezos because Bezos is actually successful. The jealousy is strong there. Both are billionaires. Bezoz is a billionaire in American dollars. Trump is a billionaire, as long as his money is counted in rubles.

  47. Microsoft is working on a virtualized PC OS for 2021

In case anyone reading assumes this means you can only get Office with Microsoft 365, here's the link for direct one-time purchase. They purposely bury the links on their site to push people to Microsoft 365: https://www.microsoft.com/en-u...b=pivot%3Aoverviewtab" rel="external nofollow">https://www.microsoft.com/en-u...ivetab=pivot%3Aoverviewtab" rel="external nofollow">https://www.microsoft.com/en-u...tivetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab Office 365 is a subscription service while Office 2019 is a normal one-time purchase. 2019 is the last available one-time purchase version. From here on out it's all subs. And from there on out, use old versions, LibreOffice, or Google docs. I'm never paying for subscription to use Office. Microsoft is nuts. Office 2000 is the last MS office I had and that came from a mate who got a load of licences for his business. i have used newer versions but for me they are an overkill which is why I use Libre.

  49. Microsoft has repeatedly tried. First Windows RT, then S Mode, then Always Connected PCs and the emulation thing which does not give satisfactory user experience. Now Windows 10X. Win32 is Windows. Everything else is superfluous - .NET, WPF, UWP/WinUI. Without Win32, there can be no successful Windows, there can be no great Windows. The sooner they understand this the better they can steer their platform in the right direction.
