Apple is blocking users from downgrading to iOS 13.5.1 from iOS 13.6
mehta708 and 3 others reacted to WallyMcClure for a topic
Seriously? A couple of weeks after a release, Apple ALWAYS stops code signing for previous versions. This is nothing new. Yawn. Not quite sure why this is worthy of a story on Neowin. Yea, apple fanboy sites always document this, but this isn't worthy of a story even there. Nobody in the real world downgrades. The culture of the PC and mobile is that you always move forward. Sure, previous versions of iOS were ######, but nobody goes backwards.4 points -

How to stop Windows 10 update ?
+Dick Montage and 2 others reacted to Nick H. for a topic
I've got to disagree with this. Just because we are providing advice or a service free of charge doesn't mean that we should be providing a sub-par service. I think of it this way: I am advising someone what to do in order to protect myself as much as them. If their system becomes compromised, it has the potential to compromise other systems. Also, I'm not only thinking about this one person asking for advice. What about the other people who go to Google with a similar question and get directed to this thread? I would always provide someone with the best advice, even if it is something that they don't want to hear. If they want to wreck their system then so be it, but I won't have a part in it. How did you not intentionally use the typo, "steaks"?! It was right there!3 points -

The problem is that the price has been going up and they're still doing things like Season Passes and DLC you pay for which is often pretty dumb cosmetic or bonus item stuff you could've just as well had in the game itself. They can make the price $70, sure, but they're not getting rid of all the DLC and bonus pre-order exclusive crap they come up with in the end.2 points -
Twitter cracks down on QAnon conspiracy group, bans 7,000 accounts
Depicus and one other reacted to shockz for a topic
This only proves how dangerous misinformation is and how many people who don't know any better fall for it. That is called hypocrisy!. Twitter: unverified facts(*) are misinformation. So, let's hear CNN, FOX, etc. because they are a source of 100% truth. Also, please check this shady ad! and please, buy that crap of product/service. (*) scientists facts are no fact at all. Twitter is OK to preach misinformation if they profit from it. For example, "Incredible anti-mosquito device is taking __your city__ by storm!" You win the mental gymnastics gold medal! Ahem. Twitter profit from selling scams. Most ads are scam and Twitter does nothing to stop it because they earn from it. And it is on top of the whole scams and propaganda allowed by Twitter to brainwash the idiots. Also, Twitter preaches about WHO, the same cretins that said "no, it is just a flu, so there is nothing to worry", and WHO is the official voice of Coronavirus. But somebody gives his or her opinion and Twitter ban because is misleading. So, Twitter (and their executives) has zero ethics or morals to say what is good or bad. Now, what is your point? Do you have a point? I mention the WHO because it was a vivid example of what is happening. Using WHO as an example just shows how far we'd go down the rabbit hole in any response to a point I'd be making. It'd be a waste of time. You're too far gone.2 points -

Microsoft is finally migrating Minecraft from AWS to Azure

!? this has nothing to do with getting rid of java, the java edition is still going to exist. And yes, as bloaty and slow it is, it is still far better than the heap of crap that is bedrock edition. Java is old technology that is a sieve like Flash was. Everyone has moved on from Java. Only old stuff like Minecraft still used it. Java is resource intensive and a major security problem. Think of what software you use that uses Java. Nothing. Minecraft is the last major title. Everything uses java, it's actually far more popular and in demand that C/C++ is. https://adtmag.com/articles/20...9/slashdata_languages.asxh" rel="external nofollow">https://adtmag.com/articles/20...09/slashdata_languages.asxh Might want to recheck your thinking there. try posting from a more recent source Pick yourself up off the floor, dust yourself off, and walk away. This is a battle you were ill prepared for. I don’t think you actually have any idea what you are talking about. Everyone has moved on from Java? Someone better tell Android OS and app developers that. 🙃 Jetbrains has very popular IDEs and they are written in...ready for it? Java. I could go on and on but I don’t need to.1 point -

What are you on about?! Just because WHO trusted and published a report from china, doesn't mean they are in cahoots with the PRC to cover up the virus and deliberately spread misinformation. It's really not that hard to understand. The chinese government charged Li Wenliang, not WHO. For your information, china has an authoritarian regime, so it's far more likely they didn't report the exact truth to WHO.1 point -

So, what is wrong with 3G for those of us with modest needs and requirements? It was bad enough having to trash perfectly good phones that worked on 2G to move to 3G. Not all of us have any desire to play high-end games on our phones. As stated elsewhere, an excellent opportunity for one to switch carriers--unless, of course, AT&T is willing to pay big bucks for the 3G phone owner to move to 4G.1 point -

Japan's COVID-19 app reaches 7.69 million downloads amidst a second wave of infection
spacelordmaster reacted to Brian Mulrooney for a topic
It's not an "Alert: you have contracted COVID" app. As stated in the first sentence of the article, the app's purpose is to assist in contact tracing. This process suppresses spread of infection by notifying people that have come in close contact with individuals whom have tested positive, letting them know to self-quarantine prior to displaying symptoms. Common sense and education can do the same thing. I have plenty of both. I don't need an app to tell me to keep my distance from people or to wear a mask. What if we didn't have smart phones? What if apps didn't exist? How would you do it then? Something to think about. If smartphones and social media did not exist, we would not be living in this mass hysteria generated dystopia. We'd be going about our lives as normal.1 point -

Had a younger guy call me last night to clean up "All the viruses" from his computer, because he let his friend use his computer to watch a "Free" stream of a football game. he told me he heard if people stream stuff from those types of sites they get viruses. I said, yes, it's possible, but just by watching one of those pirated streams isn't instantly going to give you a virus. Turned out all he had popping up was a BUNCH of chrome notifications. He also had some doggy chrome extensions and a crappy adware PC cleanup software on there and expired version of Mcafee that came on the pc. If I hear incorrect #### flow out of a customers mouth, I will not make them feel like they are right. I will correct them so they stop spreading bad info.1 point -
