  4. This coming from the jackass that used his money to invest in games that were already finishing development to secure exclusivity, preventing consumers from the choice of platform. How ya gonna bitch at Apple and Google, when you're literally swiping choice out of the hands of gamers? All because you're not making enough money from your damn microtransactions lol, get over yourself.

Not used utorrent since ages and not going to since it got riddled with ads. Qbittorrent is a perfect alternative, open-source and no ads.

  13. First time in my life, I purchased an iPhone!

For the first time in my life, not only have I purchased a brand new phone, I purchased an iPhone. The phone I decided on is the iPhone SE 2020 128gb. I went the route of the iPhone mainly for the 5+ years of support and security updates the phone will most likely receive. It has a smaller battery than the others, but I don't do a lot on my phone. I make phone calls, check Facebook here and there, send a text message or two and instant message with telegram or messenger. I hardly live on my phone. Give a desktop or laptop anyway of the week. The Small form factor sounded appealing, plus it's got the same CPU as the iPhone 11 (be it slightly underclocked). Wireless Charging will be nice too. I think another thing iOS does better than android, at least in my experience is timely notifications. Starting with Doze on Android, timely notifications in some apps has gotten really bad, even when I told android not to optimize X app for battery saving. In android you'd get the notification 30 mins after the fact... or X number of minutes after the fact, after turning your screen on. It's got the same camera as the iPhone 8 but I'm really impressed how you get better images from the same camera the 8 has sheerly by the image processing of the A13 Bionic chip. Included is a sample of the Front facing camera. So, let's see how it goes. waiting for the case to arrive before it gets full use. The last Android phone I had was Essentials Phone running LIneageOS 17.1. Then I purchased an iPhone 6 Plus for $20 to and put a new battery in it. I wanted to spend $20 and get a feel for and iPhone to see if I like it, instead of spending $450 and finding out I don't like it. So I used the iPhone for 1 week and I was ok with it. Once again I really do like the timely notifications. The rest of the phones i've had LG v20, Galaxy S7, LG g3, Galaxy S3 and before that it was an HTC incredible 2. All phone listed above, including the essentials phone have all been from eBay This is a sample of the front facing camera. As far as my case goes, i'm going with the same kind of case I got for my Iphone 6 Plus. It's a GREAT case, feels great in the hand AND has a built in screen protector that snaps in on top. iPhone 6 plus https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MOOFHQ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 iPhone SE 2020 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0876VFSBK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Imagine you are dying from hunger. You pick up the phone and order food. The restaurant asks for the delivery address. You refuse to give them because ... oh, your privacy! Guess what happens after that.

  16. While that does suck, I honestly have no problem will installing another store on my PC, I don't see it as such a big deal like others who seem fixed on only using Steam and nothing else. I much like all the free games I've been getting from EGS, but if the price is right on Steam I'll get it from there instead. Or I'll sit and enjoy all the games I get through Game Pass on PC for €5 a month that I've been paying so far.

  17. And Apple want to keep locking people and children in to their walled ecosystem and to keep forcing their AppleStore on everybody to get a 30% cut. +1, but it's not MS, so everybody is fine with it @dontbeevil You always seem to portray MS as a victim. You do it over and over. Why is that?

If everyone would just stop being selfish, we’d be able to conquer this in 4 weeks. And please, spare us the “imma do what I want” and FrEDoM!!11 response.

  22. I think the biggest problem with android is despite its openness, it's practically useless for general public without google play services, which actually does the snooping. There needs to be a push for opensource alternative to google play(MicroG comes to mind) from OEMs, devs and public.

  27. Are you seriously defending Apples ###### behavior? Defending what behavior? Blocking sideloading. That's not even everything, there's a list of limits in place that pretty much are there to ring out everything they can from a developer. I'm not a developer so I only see the customer side, and that is that Apple blocks sideloading.
    1 point
  28. Let's investigate this more and if there's funky stuff going on, which there probably is, lets sue and drop a huge fine on them. Plus force them to make changes. Many times these things lead to a small fine that doesn't actually have much of an effect in the end.

Imagine buying an electric car but being mad you can't put gas in it. That's what this sounds like to me. You have every opportunity given to you to not buy Apple, but making the deliberate choice to buy a phone who's market hasn't changed since its inception is a bit ridiculous...

  33. Apple's iPhone 11 assembly in India has reportedly kicked off

This likely helps them start testing the production of a smaller number of units before they take on iPhone 12 orders which, after it's announced, will probably see a huge surge in orders. Gives them more time to figure out the messiness.

  34. lol there are still some windows 3.1 icons and ui elements in 10 if you look in the right places. 10X I think is their solution to this; Windows is such a cluster at this point from them just building up and up on the same code base over the years so starting from scratch and moving elements back over to the new project is really the only for sure way to regain consistency at this point. Having proper containers for x86 programs will be nice anyway from a security standpoint. Once they're satisfied with the state of 10X they'll probably do another "timed" free upgrade like they did for 10 to switch over to it. I don't see in place upgrades working so everyone will probably have to clean install. I'm sure it could at least backup the user folders and such to a .old folder as usual still though. Agree with Win10X being the solution. They need to run it similar to how they did with the Microsoft Launcher app for android. I know it's significantly different, so maybe a 2 year testing phase alongside the existing Windows builds before it's ever thought to be released once it reaches some sort of feature parity. It's such a challenge without the compatibility layers though, or an established app catalogue. Hopefully soon it will just become the successor and offered as an actual Windows Update for version 2304 or something, but keeping the last legacy version in long term support, or even feature parity for the next few releases until there's no point. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses.

  35. Isn't this tech new? Arm on PC? MS have been in the ARM space with Windows since Windows RT/Windows 8 which was a knee jerk reaction to the success of the iPad and it failed miserably. They have had years to get this right but have produced nothing that is successful. Now that Apple has announced ARM on the Mac I expect MS will be extra keen to make WoA a success somehow. I almost forgot about RT. Was that ARM? A real early iteration of it I expect. Thanks for the update.

  36. First time in my life, I purchased an iPhone!

Thats one of the main reasons I went with an iPhone after Microsoft killed Windows Phone. Although their support between 6.5 to 7 and 7 to 8 was bad. I still have an android phone for testing and a spare line (Just upgraded to the Moto G Stylist), but my iPhone X is my main line and phone to use.

  37. Totally revamped? Uh....it is a layer of paint on the same UI. In fact it’s reincorporating things they took out. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Not quite a total revamp.

I do not agree with your sentiment, bring on the death of Control Panel. It does not have the same functionality as the control panel. If it did I wouldn't mind. Settings is not a suitable replacement for the control panel. They are still changing it to have such functionality. The thing is, you are complaining about them doing that. If there is anything to complain about, it’s that they haven’t finished it yet.

  41. U.S. Congressional hearing to question Big Tech CEOs faces delay

Senator: "So this new thing, the internet.. What does it do exactly?" Person being interviewed: um, this is a joke right? It's a series of tubes. "How do you sustain a business model in which users don't pay for your service?" - Sen. Orrin Hatch "Senator, we run ads" - Zuckerberg from the out of touch 86 yr old senator that at one point proposed a law to destroy anyone property that pirated media automatically with no investigation or trial... back in 2003 "SEN. ORRIN HATCH (R-Utah) suggested Tuesday that people who download copyright materials from the Internet should have their computers automatically destroyed." which was hilarious because right around that time he was found to be running pirated software on his computers... how out of touch these people are

  42. Absolutely pathetic. Now just think, the "little guy" or "average Joe" could be made out to say anything and it would be his/her word against Twitter, the FBI, NSA, etc. that he/she did not say whatever. Granted, we know all of that can happen with these various agencies anyway. But, in this case, a Twitter employee could really screw you over. Very troublesome.

  44. Halo Infinite will be a platform that grows over time, no sequels planned

Video game as a platform, eh? This is a new language but the themes and motifs behind it are very familiar. It appears Halo Infinite intends to become, not a work of art called "video game", but a source of income that thrives on addicts who would continue to pay for new content. They will eventually see the futility of playing it when they realize that they were playing to end a conflict that is never-ending. But by then, Chris Lee has become a very rich man. There is a name for all of this too: Mobile games.

  45. I mean, Microsoft cares more about Game Pass now, so it's all about the ecosystem. Hence why Halo and other first-parties are on PC as well. As it should be. Microsoft has PC and Xbox, it's nice to see them push harder into the PC space. This stuff should be agnostic to the device, Xbox should run everywhere. Consumers win.

  46. I think the ones who really won are PC gamers. All of them, except a few, will be able to be played on PC on day 1. The ones who didn't will come in on a later date. Can't believe that Halo Infinite is coming to PC on day 1.

  47. Yammer's new design is rolling out to everyone

It's "Facebook" for internal enterprise group before Teams was a thing. My organisation uses it, and while it has some benefits, it ends up being a "look how good our team is", usually posted by on the ground employees who rarely use computers, but who have been directed by their 2-up managers. But it really does have benefits for sharing information between work centres and my personal favourite, the photography group, is where the cool stuff happens! Yep, i agree with you about the look how good I am thing., one of the reason I don't use it. people post, I done this and that, how good am I as if the rest of us do nothing. So they are posting for doing their job. I said maybe I should take a photo of us unloading a lorry and put look at us unloading lorries so you have products here to do your job. Saying that I have been told they are not supposed to do it now.

  48. There are a couple of things I did not like. First, reload and cover animations are waaaaay too fast, like slow them down to at least 1/4th and it will be sort of okay. The reload animation just seems reused from Mafia 3 Second, the "Reload early, lose rest of the mag" mechanic is missing, hopefully it is a difficulty setting. I totally agree with you on the 'reload early, lose rest of the mag' which ads to the tension and adds a bit more of a challenge (so you try to run your ammo as low as possible before reloading to keep ammo waste to a minimum). but I am confident it will be discarded even though that's one aspect I liked about the first game as the first game is more challenging than your typical shooter for sure. They would be stupid to discard this since Mafia 1 was one of the first games that implemented such feature.

  49. Can't replace Laptop's RAM?

OMGGGGG!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! My spirit went back up!!! You nailed it!! That was it!! You HP Crimson monster 👹👿👺! It's my first time handling an HP device. It seems that all of the HP laptops are very cumbersome to open (HP WHY?!). You need to remove the rubber pads and then use a pry opening tool to open the freaking laptop! (I hate those because you have to be highly skilled not to screw the chasis, which, of course, I end up messing up a new computer). But to my surprise, the computer has 2 Memory Slots!, so I left the 4GB there and slapped the additional 8GB that I got (and now everything is working 🎉🎉🎉🎉) Dude, you really saved me 👍. Not even HP itself was able to pinpoint me in the right direction! This laptop is for a friend who has little money and entrusted me to get a decent machine. After seeing this at $264 I knew I couldn't be wrong. But when I saw that I couldn't open it... I felt disappointed as 4GB is a dead shot as Google Chrome hogs your RAM pretty easily. But oh boy Take a look at that 😊. Even the SSD is replaceable (NVMe)! I now know this lappy is going to withstand the test of time for at least a couple of years (Light tasks!).
