First time in my life, I purchased an iPhone!
Matthew S. and one other reacted to +Warwagon for a topic
For the first time in my life, not only have I purchased a brand new phone, I purchased an iPhone. The phone I decided on is the iPhone SE 2020 128gb. I went the route of the iPhone mainly for the 5+ years of support and security updates the phone will most likely receive. It has a smaller battery than the others, but I don't do a lot on my phone. I make phone calls, check Facebook here and there, send a text message or two and instant message with telegram or messenger. I hardly live on my phone. Give a desktop or laptop anyway of the week. The Small form factor sounded appealing, plus it's got the same CPU as the iPhone 11 (be it slightly underclocked). Wireless Charging will be nice too. I think another thing iOS does better than android, at least in my experience is timely notifications. Starting with Doze on Android, timely notifications in some apps has gotten really bad, even when I told android not to optimize X app for battery saving. In android you'd get the notification 30 mins after the fact... or X number of minutes after the fact, after turning your screen on. It's got the same camera as the iPhone 8 but I'm really impressed how you get better images from the same camera the 8 has sheerly by the image processing of the A13 Bionic chip. Included is a sample of the Front facing camera. So, let's see how it goes. waiting for the case to arrive before it gets full use. The last Android phone I had was Essentials Phone running LIneageOS 17.1. Then I purchased an iPhone 6 Plus for $20 to and put a new battery in it. I wanted to spend $20 and get a feel for and iPhone to see if I like it, instead of spending $450 and finding out I don't like it. So I used the iPhone for 1 week and I was ok with it. Once again I really do like the timely notifications. The rest of the phones i've had LG v20, Galaxy S7, LG g3, Galaxy S3 and before that it was an HTC incredible 2. All phone listed above, including the essentials phone have all been from eBay This is a sample of the front facing camera. As far as my case goes, i'm going with the same kind of case I got for my Iphone 6 Plus. It's a GREAT case, feels great in the hand AND has a built in screen protector that snaps in on top. iPhone 6 plus https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MOOFHQ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 iPhone SE 2020 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0876VFSBK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=12 points -

While that does suck, I honestly have no problem will installing another store on my PC, I don't see it as such a big deal like others who seem fixed on only using Steam and nothing else. I much like all the free games I've been getting from EGS, but if the price is right on Steam I'll get it from there instead. George P reacted to dirtyvu for a topic
yeah, it's not so much the cut that is so bad. it's all the other apple behavior. Like they control where and how apps are viewed when people search. They can manipulate the charts. They push their own apps to the top of the lists even when there are equivalent apps out there with higher reviews and downloads. Apple also sets different rules for Apple from those of third-party companies. Like with Tile's complaint, Tile was not allowed to tracking permission to always on. So that made setup more complicated because it requires the user to configure the app. But Apple doesn't have such restriction on their own apps. Apple allows themselves to make the app "just work". And the app review process can be quite arbitrary where the application of rules can change even if the rule doesn't.1 point -

Geezy reacted to dead.cell for a topic
To be fair, Hello Neighbor was featured in the pre-show, not in the main showcase, as was the ID@Xbox sizzle reel Microsoft usually has at E3. Knowing what Hello Neighbor promised vs. how it released really troubled me. I was legit hyped about the game and supremely let down. While the trailer looks good, I've got huge doubts about the game following through on what it's promising there. Also, that ID@Xbox was pretty good I thought, but that music in between cuts was like some U2 garbage. They need to hit up someone on YouTube for better editing.1 point -

Isn't this tech new? Arm on PC? MS have been in the ARM space with Windows since Windows RT/Windows 8 which was a knee jerk reaction to the success of the iPad and it failed miserably. They have had years to get this right but have produced nothing that is successful. Now that Apple has announced ARM on the Mac I expect MS will be extra keen to make WoA a success somehow.1 point -

Can't replace Laptop's RAM?
Jose_49 reacted to Tidosho for a topic
I agree. I just bought a G3 3779 (8th Gen i7 with GTX 1060) and getting to the inside of that is easy, just the base cover, with (I think) 16 screws. My older Precision M6600 however, the whole keyboard, AND palmrest have to come off, which is about 30 screws and a ton of ribbon cables, to get to the heatsink & fans, and the MXM socketed GPU. The sad thing for me is that a lot of sub £3,000 laptops now are coming with the GPU discreet, instead of MXM card. My G3 just cost under £800 second hand, under a years use (2018 manufactured model bought by the owner in 2019), and I'm dreading having to change the entire mainboard if the GPU goes on it. My last discreet GPU based laptop (A Clevo M670SU) developed corrupt VRAM, and had to be written off. Even the newest Alienware (m17?) is like this, I download Dell's service manual archive regularly for my repair company, and it's saddening. We're supposed to be REVERSING landfill! A lot of it (chiclet keyboards, vents between the inside of the hinges exhausting onto the screen causing bleed, and general shrinkage) seems to be copied from crApple. I wish the general industry would STOP following those!1 point -

If they focused more providing a secure and enjoyable platform by not only limiting the number of people that have God Mode access, which if it's in the 1000s, should be under key logging an video surveillance 24/7, but also focusing more holding users accountable for policing the content they read, see, hear and shows up on their timeline. Why have a mute or block button at all? Liberalism has infected so much of our media. It's festered into this whiny, petulant, "He said mean words ban him!" culture that they no longer have any concept of personal responsibility. Instead of banning and suspending accounts, the crybaby that reports should receive and email that says "Grow up and use the block button. " The person getting blocked should receive a message stating that their content was block form this user and replying to them any more is in act in futility. Simple. Done. Doing this would allow them to focus more on a secure, quality platform for *EVERYONE* (except the actual terrorist accounts they refused to ban because their free speech is more important than ours) to enjoy. Hopefully Jack will bring his A game to his new hearing at the senate and finally admit his bias, which ultimately leads to these types of attacks.1 point -

Microsoft has PC and Xbox, it's nice to see them push harder into the PC space. This stuff should be agnostic to the device, Xbox should run everywhere. Consumers win.1 point -

Mafia: Definitive Edition gameplay revealed in a new 14-minute trailer
ThaCrip reacted to +E.Worm Jimmy for a topic
There are a couple of things I did not like. First, reload and cover animations are waaaaay too fast, like slow them down to at least 1/4th and it will be sort of okay. The reload animation just seems reused from Mafia 3 Second, the "Reload early, lose rest of the mag" mechanic is missing, hopefully it is a difficulty setting. I totally agree with you on the 'reload early, lose rest of the mag' which ads to the tension and adds a bit more of a challenge (so you try to run your ammo as low as possible before reloading to keep ammo waste to a minimum). but I am confident it will be discarded even though that's one aspect I liked about the first game as the first game is more challenging than your typical shooter for sure. They would be stupid to discard this since Mafia 1 was one of the first games that implemented such feature. Yeah, when i first played i was surprised i ran out so fast, and then enjoyed the ammo management aspect as it added realism, if they remove it to make the game more "modern" (meaning easy) it will be a real shame1 point -
