same here, i hate fact that in the new start menu, you can't even right click to get to stuff like properties, or delete (a folder) or open folder. Uhm... You can. nope, properties nowhere to be find. right clicking on folder, does nothing, can't delete left over folders in start menu correction: only one there is open file location, under more. Here's how to delete stuff from the Start menu. Open File Explorer. Make sure hidden and system files are visible. Go to Program Data; Microsoft; Windows; Start Menu; Programs. Delete what you don't want to see in the Start Menu. Yeah, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and suggest your missing his point.4 points -

A nice Alphabetical App list would be great. That's probably coming in iOS 20. It is already in the iOS 14 beta. Those are just app catagory groups. it's one extra step but if you click the search bar at the top it shows in alphabetical. maybe they'll just have a toggle to switch between categories and alphabetical by the time iOS 14 reaches final if enough people ask for it though.2 points -

It's completely different from Nokia. Nokia stopped being a major smartphone player before Microsoft ever got involved. Microsoft didnt have anyone to build phones so they decided to get in by buying Nokia. But selling hardware is an awful business. That's limiting yourself to a very narrow viewpoint. Here are all the Microsoft acquisitions recently : https://www.microsoft.com/en-u...or/acquisition-history.aspx ... so for example, do you really think that Mojang sold Office 365 subscriptions? And not everything needs to fit a current mindset. Apple made a phone in 2007, when they were not even involved in that business at all. They were laughed at, now look at them. Tiktok is a "market disruptor" application, a social media phenomenon right now. It is cheap and easy low hanging fruit.2 points -

Crap is right. If they wanted to have set up a reputable pay site for use by famous people, politicians, corporations, PR, etc., they shouldn't have let Twitter become the Internet's toilet bowl. From President Full Retard's daily vomit to the right wing fascist, racist, and anti-science kooks, Twitter isn't even worth installing for free. "From President Full Retard's daily vomit to the right wing fascist, racist, and anti-science kooks, Twitter isn't even worth installing for free." But at least us republicans don't oppose the truth (i.e. Christianity) like the godless/radical left routinely does and it's obvious which political party falls inline with this verse from the bible... "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." - Isaiah 5 : 20 that becomes more true the more radical the left gets as the more radical they get the more hostile they become to Christianity and anyone who opposes Christianity, and it's moral truth, is simply the villain. anyone who can see through the lens of Christianity knows the left are the villains with abortion being a very basic test of ones morality (falls inline with that Isaiah 5 : 20 bible verse about where they sugar-coat a immoral act under the guise of a "choice" in a attempt to make a intrinsically evil act look good) as if someone fails to get that one right they tend to be backwards in many other moral areas and that's what's happening on the left as the years/decades pass. you know the left is heading towards insanity when they question basic male/female nature. it's like they question everything and believe in nothing and end up accepting everything besides the truth of Jesus Christ. but it's not surprising as it's obvious many on the left in positions of power hate Jesus Christ and use their power to advance what's bad and oppose the good. also, the godless left limits how many can attend church services, which are essential for anyone who can see beyond the here and now (i.e. a persons soul is more important than ones body in the big picture), but have no problems with the "protesters" (i.e. rioters) gathering in groups and other stuff that's not nearly as important in the big picture etc. I am not saying the average democrat is that that bad but it's obvious the radicals have pretty much taken over the democrat party and that's bad for society in the long term as they are headed towards socialism/communism (which many Popes condemned through the ages) and the like which is anti-USA. but many are blind nowadays and can't see what's really going on as it's no longer about petty political differences of the past but it's becoming more of a battle of good vs evil and many just go with the flow of a immoral word thinking whatever is popular is good and whatever opposes that is automatically bad and must be censored/destroyed etc. How the ###### are you even taking about this in a thread about a subscription model... not to mention it’s a complete nonsense stance. You are full on brainwashed. It’s truly terrifying their are grown adults who think like you.1 point -

Well, the Pixel has a better battery, but the iPhone SE 2020 out preforms the Pixel. I have the new SE 2020. The Screen size of the SE may be a little small for people coming in at 4.7 inches. I'm loving the camera and I am ending the day with 50% battery. but I don't live on my phone either. The one thing I miss from Android is a custom launcher. In my case the Launcher 10. the home screens really are a mess on the iPhone. A nice Alphabetical App list would be great. That's probably coming in iOS 20. there's also the matter of 3 years of support hopefully for the Pixel and 5 years (potentially more) support for the iPhone SE. Yep, the battery in the iPhone will probably go bad before support ends lol1 point -

I use to be like you when it came to my pixels.. Pixel 1: Froze completely to where I needed to remove the battery to get it working again/let it run down... you can imagine which option I picked most of the time.. Buttons would not respond. Ended up being whenever I was on ATT SIM card/GSM similar networks, was patched almost a year afterwards to fix the problem, but I was already on Pixel 2 XL by then. Pixel 2XL: Boot looped after 13 months. Pixel 3: Battery bulge and cracked my back panel. Some how was not covered under warranty, even though there was no evidence of drop and battery was clearly bulged. That ended my Pixel adventure. Not so sure you should instant order, unless you're somehow locked into a Pixel ecosystem, there are better options out there. On the other hand, my various old iPhones are still rocking, either being used by other family members, or test phones. my iPhone 4 still runs, same with my 6 plus, 7, etc... Long story short, googles QA needs some work. It's not me.1 point -

How does any Microsoft acquisition help M$. Seriously look back and try to remember a buy that was not eventually a failure. Frankly I'm worried for GitHub. Minecraft .... yep that's the only one I can think of that hasn't become a failure. Mostly because they left Mojang mostly intact to do their own thing still. edit: they're doing the same thing with GitHub that they did with Minecraft; which is to say mostly leaving it alone and just providing some funding to help out so I don't see GitHub going anywhere.1 point -

Microsoft could acquire TikTok's U.S. operations
benthebear reacted to waysidesc for a topic
True, but you make them out to sound as bad as Google at killing products and technologies. More whataboutism. One could argue that they are worse. Just look at all of the features deprecated and/or removed from Windows 10 --- one operating system --- in just four years: Books in Microsoft Store ( with purchased books rendered inoperable;1984 for the digital age ! ) Cortana Data Usage and associated functionality : https://www.neowin.net/forum/t...-the-backgr-network-option/ Deferment of feature updates ePub support in Microsoft Edge Groove Music Pass ( 'use Spotify instead !' ... ) Interactive Service Detection Messaging synchronization My People Note option in Action Center PNRP ( why !? ) Reading List ( with the unique distinction of dying more than once ! ) Taskbar Setting Roam Skype for Windows Touch Suggestions for unsaved, non-Microsoft accounts in People Windows Ink Workspace Sketchpad Windows Ink Workspace suggestions and associated features Wi-Fi Sense Windows To Go ... That is not even counting things like other features removed after previous versions such as Windows 8.1 ... You want to snap more than two apps in Tablet Mode ! ? Forget about it. Or the weird 'everyone migrate to OneNote for Windows 10' decision reversal with updates to the Win32 version. Or the frankly really weird decision to remove Paint --- complete with a notification informing everyone for over a year that it would be going to the Store ! --- but reversing course ... HealthVault ? Kin ? Kinect ? So.cl ? Photosynth ? Windows Essentials ( especially Photo Gallery's panorama and stitching features ... ) ? Windows Media Center ? Windows SideShow ? Zune ? Microsoft Band ? Mixer ? Remix3D ? Or Windows Mobile itself ! ? Man, you listed a bunch of removed features, like you yourself said: FEATURES. And your point would be ? Is a feature ( e.g. Cortana or Groove Music Pass ) not a product because it is a feature ... ? Are they not technologies ? Also ... I did not just list 'features' ... Obviously. R.I.P. Windows Phone 8.1. My heart is still sore because of that one. We could make an endless list of features that have been removed from one version to another of macOS or any linux distribution. What about these dropped technologies? Time Capsule Photo Print Products iBooks Author Aperture iPhoto You see, a consumer oriented company like Apple does not hesitate to cancel what can't be converted into earnings. I know people that are still ###### off from when Apple killed the Xserve, they were left with a brick, I even know someone who reconverted one from a brick to a... coffee table (a very expensive one, 6.000 euros). Whataboutism. I am not writing what I am writing to suggest that other companies are not guilty of such behavior ... and I am not writing just to condemn Microsoft ( I love Microsoft, but I really despise their most recent practices) to suggest that only Microsoft is guilty. I would love nothing more than to have the Windows 8 vision again --- or even making Windows 10 visionary in line with Windows 8's aspirations --- but I know that will never happen.1 point -

Apple reportedly favored Amazon with lower App Store rates for Prime Video
matthiew reacted to Tuskd for a topic
I don't mind the discounts for select developers. It is the unfair advantage that they gain by being both the platform Owner and the app maker. Have they used Prime video's install data to understand their consumer's viewing patterns and directly compete their TV offering? If so, they should be penalised and the practice made illegal1 point -

Apple reportedly favored Amazon with lower App Store rates for Prime Video
300z reacted to George P for a topic
And why so? Do you really believe that other companies do not do the same? Do you think that if you negotiate to buy 100 office 365 licenses you will be able to get the same deal of someone else buying 10,000 licenses? If you re-read my post you'd notice at the end I said "all of them", I'm not singling out anyone. But since you want to bring MS into this, your example isn't the same. You're buying from MS directly, it's a 1 to 1 sale. The App store cut is Apple being the man in the middle. Customer is paying amazon for a sub, and Apple gets a cut. There's no 3rd person getting a cut of your Office 365 licenses. While I understand what you're trying to say you're example doesn't match up with the topic at hand. I am afraid that you missed my point entirely: besides the fact that I was not to single out MS at all, my point is that no matter the nature of the transaction its magnitude is what shape the parameters. Be reassured that you are looking to buy a $10.000.000 house you will have a by far greater leverage to negotiate your realtor percentage than if you were looking to buy a $1.000,000 one. Furthermore I do not believe that there is nothing wrong with this, it is simply one of the principles of a free economy. I'm fully aware of what you're point is, but at the same time it doesn't apply to a "market" like the app store that has specific rules in place for "everyone" to make it a level playing field, then you have Apple turn around and break the same rules they themselves put in place for everyone else. It's a case of do as I say, not as I do. They've also got clear app store rules about cloning apps, which they block developers from doing, only to turn around and make their own cloned apps. If there wasn't a set of rules/regulations in the app store that seem to only apply to small developers, then sure, get the best deal you can get, but that's not the case. You either follow your own rules as well or don't have any at all. There's a long list of developers complaining about these types of things, it's not like it just started now, and this amazon deal is just one example probably.1 point -

Many of us hated the pre-release builds, we hated the initial launch version & hated every release up to and including 2004. I was only using my Macs part time before Windows 10 but Windows 10 pushed me fully over to macOS. I still use Windows 10 now and then as I stupidly bought a Surface Laptop 2 when it was on sale but it’s so painfully bad and I fully back the criticisms mentioned above and elsewhere. I still don’t think Microsoft know what they are doing with Windows and it’s plain to see. It’s horrendous. Why are all the settings STILL all over the place? Why does Control Panel still exist? Why does Windows still eat up so much space and why is it still so painful to manage in an enterprise environment? It’s a stinking turd.1 point -

5 years and it is spyware, 5 years and the UI is still a mess and inconsistrant, 5 years and the settings is still a mess, split between the control panel and the settings, 5 years and Ms still have no idea what they are doing, the store is still full of rubbish, and very little worth bothering with and now MS is pushing more people to use their Ms account which offers very little. Updates still muck up and every update seems t o have some sort of problem and those problems are getting worse and yet they still offer nothing for the majority of people. So in all the updates and years, windows 10 is still no better, in fact sometimes it is worse1 point -
