  1. An iPad can't run Windows via Parallels. Just get a Windows PC. Makes zero sense to get a Chrome OS device if you need to run Windows software...

  2. U.S. seeks to expand its crackdown on Chinese tech

In every country, you know it’s an election year when politicians start dog whistling. Same thing happens here in Australia.

MS would win nothing by blocking this.

  5. Same way they would label, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNBC, MSNBC, CNN when a democrat is in office. A Democrat isn't in office though and we can only deal with today. Right now Fox News is a state run media outlet and should be labelled accordingly. Do you really see all of those news organisations as being far left? What is it with Republicans with conspiracy theories and the feeling they are being persecuted by everyone. Eh? Calling an outlet "far left" is now a conspiracy theory and claiming persecution? That's.... A take, I guess.

They are all owned and push a personal agenda of said owners. Free press as far as I'm concerned is dead.

  7. Windows > Chromebook.

  8. This seems pretty pointless, if you're reliant on a number of Windows apps each day, just get a Windows device to start. If you need one of the office apps every now and then, you can just use the web version of it. This is clearly a play to try and get chromebooks to matter outside of education, but I really think that enterprise users will just get a Windows device and call it a day.

"They believe the explosion was the equivalent of 1,000 to 1,500 tonnes of TNT – a blast intensity which would support the belief that it was caused by the detonation of 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate fertiliser." https://www.sbs.com.au/news/beirut-explosion-was-one-of-the-biggest-non-nuclear-blasts-in-human-history

  18. So, would you call fireworks bombs also because they to also have components used in making bombs/explosive materials and as a bonus have fuse? Ammonium nitrate has other uses than being just a component of making bombs. So no, it technically wasn't a bomb, being it wasn't exploded by impact, fuse, or timing device.

  23. Intel will announce its Tiger Lake processors on September 2

It's not like they haven't been in this situation more or less before, right? Unless you don't remember the old Pentium 4 days? AMD was kicking butt back then to, till Intel finally moved on to the new Core arch, and the rest is history. They'll get things in order again, it just depends on how long it'll take. I hope AMD can hold on to their gains this time though, healthy competition is good for everyone.

  27. Why are you on a Microsoft site? Or possibly the same reason I come back to this site. I’ve used Microsoft’s products for decades, and I still have some love for the company. Hell, I used to have a, Bill Gates, picture in my bedroom back in the late 80’s. However, I will still call out the new, Microsoft. From their junky Windows 10, to their hardware that never seems to stick around. In my opinion, and unfortunately, the company is only shell of what it used to be. "In my opinion, and unfortunately, the company is only shell of what it used to be" That's because MS have gone in a different direction, toward the profitable enterprise sector. They aren't even trying to be the company of Bill Gates days.

  28. I really hope some of the open lawsuits win out. Apple is officially being TOO strict with their restrictions on the platform and demanding their cut on things purchased through apps. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to buy Steam/Stadia/xCloud games through their respective apps and there's no reason we shouldn't be allowed to stream the games from these platforms.

  32. Saw this on the news this morning, really sad at the loss of life but it was not a terrorist incident and of course the idiot President in the US immediately said his generals told him it was a bomb, meanwhile the actual cause was already known yesterday: The ammonium nitrate was seized off a ship in 2013 and stored unsafely for all that time, so it basically was an accident waiting to happen. I take you didn't actually read the link. Of course not, just doing my part in adding more misinformation to this thread.
