  1. Ah great, consumers getting screwed again! Less platforms to get it on, more of the cost of the console being used to subsidise these deals which means you pay more and get less. Epic, sony and microsoft can shove this behavior right up their backside.

  3. HDMI cables: What am I looking for?

It doesn't means you need a special cable though. Just one able to handle the necessary bandwidth. Cheap old cables might not be able to. Old cables were not tested for 2.0 or 2.1 bandwidth as it was not required back then but if it's a good cable it will be able to provide it probably. I mean if you buy a new cable yeah you can buy one certified able to provide the necessary bandwidth but the cable itself is not really special it's certified as able to provide the necessary bandwidth for either 2.0 or 2.1. I would not pay extra for a cable personally. Just buy a brand new one from Monoprice and it will work. I mean if my old cable i bought like i dunno 10 years ago can do 4k60Hz no reason for a brand new cable from a know brand like Monoprice to not be able to do it. HDMI is more about the device than the cable. If you got a 2.1 device (don't know if they are out yet) maybe an ordinary cable wont be able to provide the bandwidth (dunno i've not tested) but for HDMI 2.0 unless your cable is terrible it will work.

  11. HDMI cables: What am I looking for?

I never said 'just get this cable'. I gave you a link to a cable after your initial post which included no detailed information whatsoever about what you needed. After I pointed out that it is a low price for a HDMI cable, I also included the specifications you were looking for. I am flabbergasted at your inability to comprehend any of what I shared with you. Besides, if after you did research you determined what the throughput and rating you needed for the cable, why on Earth would you need to post on this forum? Your original posting gave most the impression you needed some clear direction and you didn't have any idea where to start.

If you want to cover future use, then get something like this.. Cost difference is a few bucks.. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=31231 Says 48Gbps, Dynamic HDR and eArc, etc. I also think your putting too much thought in to what at most $20 purchase? Your not buying a $3k TV

Dude, go buy a damn high speed 4k cable and be done with it. The time you spent arguing in this thread, you could have had one ordered, shipped, and installed. https://www.walmart.com/ip/QualGear-10-High-Speed-HDMI-2-0-Cable-with-Ethernet/46164767 This cheapo cable will cover your 4k HDR needs. Or go to Monoprice: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=3992 There is way too much thought being put into this.

  15. HDMI cables: What am I looking for?

No not really... You can do 4k at @60hz the bandwidth depends on what is your chroma, what is your color bit depth, etc. Your blanket statement is missing details, etc. So you could do 4k@60hz with a cable that supports less than that. Which is why your original question is missing out on pertinent info to what you you would need to look for in your cable.. Which why I pointed out the different features, and that is what you should look for.. So you should look at the speed group its in, and does it support the features your after HDR, eArc, etc. People are here trying to help - sorry you didn't get the specific X answer you were looking for.. But this is a forum.. Not answer my gawd damn question, with no other comments or questions.. In general what I would say, to find the right cable - what are the specific details.. What devices are in use, what media are you specific going to want to play. If the overall goal is spend least amount of $ to provide xyz features.. If your going to speak in general terms.. All you were saying was 4k tv.. Well you could do 4k with just a cable marked as high speed, or premium.. But depending on the details and features you might need cable listed as Ultra High Speed.
    2 points
  16. HDMI cables: What am I looking for?

To be honest you prob just want to look at the speed rating.. But if you know what feature you need, and the cable lists a spec number But it might not say 2.1 or 2 on it, etc. But should list a speed that its grouped in Standard, High Speed, Premium High Speed, and Ultra High Speed. If I was in the market for a cable today, I would prob only buy a Ultra or Premium HighSpeed cable.. Say something like this from monoprice https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=31230 16$ for 8ft and lists what it can do.. So it comes down to making sure what features you need for it to do, like arc or eArc, HDR? And getting the cable that is listed to support that.

Depends on how you look at it. From a functional design point, the slab phone is as relevant as ever, and does the job really well. From a "look at me I have too much money and worry about what others think of me and my boring slab phone" design point, yeh, it's old and the new phones seem to be trying to grab peoples attention again. But being boring is not a flaw with a design, it just shows that the design is really good that it's become universal. Having said that, I am interested in how the foldable phones turn out. Also, the comments above are useless. Go back to YouTube.

That kinda sad, put US China conflict aside, Huawei was one of the highest quality phones makers and really put great efforts into the quality and innovation of it's products, now it's all be gone, one major mobile processor producer will be ceased to exist and thats surely can't be good for the competition from client stand point.

They've had PSNow quite a while and have had cross play and cross save with PC since PS2/3 respectively. Almost nobody will be switching between PC and console. It wasn't a big deal before and won't really change with game pass. For multiplayer games as a service we already have cross play and cross save on all consoles.

  26. Newbie Question on Processors...

I have to go with the others.. when asking about a CPU. What are you planning on using it for the most? However... one thing they have yet to mention.. whether you use it for gaming, or.. like myself, use it primarily for video encoding, is matching your CPU to the proper GPU. It may be arguable to some, but to me, that is also a plus to have them as compatible with each other as possible. Basically.. so that neither bottleneck each other. Kinda like, back in the day.. when we used to have 1:1 FSB specs between the CPU and the RAM. When I was doing some research on the max possibilities of my older FX-8350.. most of it boiled down to the GTX 1060 as being the GPU that wasn't kept waiting for instructions, nor was it keeping the CPU idle while doing it's own job. Pretty much an even keel between the two. So what did I do? I opted for the 1660 Super. I may not get max performance yet from the GPU, but I get max performance from my CPU.. as I do a ton of video encoding, and not all my apps use the Nvidia NVEnc libraries which the GPU does to help with the process. (even when I do use the Nvidia encoder, it doesn't completely lift the burden off the CPU) So.. all in all, it really does boil down to what your plans are. Add that to your budget, and the focus on what's available becomes clear.

If a line of devices does not sell OEMs will not follow; less than ever with something like smartphones and MS less than stellar track records. I guess you missed the part where these new devices can run the Android ecosystem... No, I did not as well as I did not miss the fact that even the OS is Android. I am afraid that you are the one that missed, or intentionally ignored, the fact that there are plenty of example of Ms products quickly abandoned after not achieving an immediate success.

  32. Exactly. U.S. lost me when they put pressure on the UK to remove Huawei from UK networks, it's now likely that costs will be passed to customers. Things are already expensive enough as it is. Except it's not just the US which is where you lose me, when Hong Kong holds protests of 800K+ against Chinese control. Taiwan has complained on numerous fronts, but just this week that China's government is stealing trade secrets from them as well. This is far beyond just Poland catching what they alleged to be a Chinese spy, who happened to be a "former" Huawei employee. You don't have to like America, most Americans don't either, but that has little to do with the complaints lodged with China, on numerous fronts right down to abusing human rights in very much Nazi Germany fashion. Arguing that you don't get your phone for as cheap as you might like because you're not importing goods from a known country abusing their people seems rather ridiculous. We know what china is doing, but to be honest how many other countries have not done the same thing over the years and maybe still doing it? The U.S. have spies, the U.K have spies, so what make us any different in that regard? You have no idea like any of us on here how much technology our countries have stolen from others. My problem with China is the way they treat their own citizens and the lack of democracy, but they are not the only country like it. We don't hate Americans or America , I do think the U.S. have tried to be the police of the world and pushed their agendas to other countries and sadly the U.K. have followed them like puppy dogs. i also think that we in the U.K. have become too Americanised and what identity we have got is starting to fade, the e.u took a lot of it. even my spelling checker is trying to spell Americanised with a Z and it is supposed to be British English. I have heard people saying ZEE instead of ZED. The U.S. is a big country and one of the reason why they are high in technology, but don't forget that country never belonged to you in the first place. As for cheap phones, he was not on about cheap phones, he was on about the network, so cheap broadband or cheaper broadband. It is not cheap in this country, a lot of people are paying about £25-£20 or more a month for home broadband, try it is unlimited, but still a bit expensive, certainly for people who don't have much money. Mobile is worse, i may only pay £7 for mine phone package, but I only get 2GB for that, plus talk time and unlimited text. the mobile provider I use offers an unlimited data service for £20 a month, but that is sim free and you still got to buy a phone and they are one of the cheaper ones. Nothing is different in essence between US and China but the gullible folks from both of these countries see them as infallible as the Pope( o_O ). In China You have state discrimination over minorities and political views, in US You have deeply rooted systemic racism and a farcical political system. The only thing that truly differs is that China is not playing World Police while US have been terrorizing the rest of the world under the umbrella of Human Rights for more than 50 years. This trade war with China is just one more in the line of endless moves to secure domination. This I must say though. US has moved to oppression beyond its capabilities. It is how empires act before the fall. I usually appreciate your posts, but there's too many flaws in here to count. I'm unsure how you can use the term "systemic racism" applying it to the US but not China. China is literally, and according to them, legally detaining people who subscribe to the wrong belief system. They are very much against outsiders too for that matter, which isn't unexpected as even Japan's been known for xenophobia. Also, China very much IS playing world police, as they use and abuse their relationships with other nations by applying pressure to get their way, along with applying direct pressure in territories like Hong Kong to further their influence and power in places where they are very much undesired. Honestly, I'm not forgiving anything the US has done in the past, but look at the president of the United States: what the hell do you expect us to do? Why do you think people are rioting here? Just like those in Hong Kong, we do not agree with the system. I don't know where people start believing the Donald J. Trump of all people is going to somehow fix the US... he's not. But if he, along with other nations as we see with India, decide to take their business elsewhere, then so be it. I'm not about to shed tears for the Chinese government.

Not really. It’s designed to fold in half when opened. What will be awkward is the size. And in order to check who is calling and eventually amswer or to check appointments etc., you will need to use two hands to open the device... Even more ironic is that this is coming from the same company that created Sideshow.

I mean, going off Microsoft's past mobile efforts, and seeing how the consumer interested has never really been there, I don't think he's wrong. His opinion must have stuck a nerve because you went after him with a tactic that's more dated than the design of the Surface Duo. There's been enough consumer interest in Surface devices to keep an entire division going at Microsoft for quite a while. It even has its own entry in their quarterly results.

First, only buy cables like this at monoprice.com. This is where I have bought all my cables and they are all good and always a very good price. Specifications depend on what you're using it for, but for the most part, they all pretty much do the same. For example, this HDMI cable: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=3992 is high speed and its 15ft length is only $8.79. Never go anywhere else. And in CA and AZ, you will get your products quickly.

  48. I actually understand first party exclusive games, but to have exclusive content is ######. If an Xbox fan and PS fan are paying the same, why should one get less content? Really ###### and I won’t support games that support these practices. So square enix is not getting a dime from me this time it's just a bonus playable character so it's not like it's hindering playing through the game, you're not losing any story or anything. Who's to say it's not just a timed exclusive anyway? It's likely an exclusive character in homage to the Marvel Spider-Man game which in itself IS an exclusive title for Sony. It's not something I would cry home about personally. -------- In any case I have no intention of picking this game up anyway; it seem subpar, especially on the graphics front. Graphics barely look xbox360/ps3 quality let alone current/next gen. And the gameplay doesn't seem to bring anything special I can't get out of other games that have a more unique story.

  50. the game itself isn't exclusive; it's just Spider-Man DLC that's exclusive it sounds like. Which that I don't mind; it's optional content and gives incentive to go one console over the other without losing the main game. I remember Soul Caliber 2 did similar things with the bonus character for each console being different.
