Sony has reportedly approached all major third-party developers with exclusivity deals
MFH and 5 others reacted to n_K for a topic
Ah great, consumers getting screwed again! Less platforms to get it on, more of the cost of the console being used to subsidise these deals which means you pay more and get less. Epic, sony and microsoft can shove this behavior right up their backside.6 points -

Nope, don't think so as Sony has NOTHING like Game Pass. Being able to play games on Xbox, PC and the cloud with cross save and cross play in some cases is going to play out in the long term. Isn't PS Now what Sony has?4 points -

Jumping Jacinta and 2 others reacted to domboy for a topic
If this provided a second battery I would be much more interested. Seems like a great opportunity missed, especially considering the mediocre battery I'm hearing a lot of the Pro models get. The keyboard needs to be heavy anyway so a battery could provide some of that weight. And considering the price, a battery would make it more worth the money. Of course it'd need to make a physical connection instead of using bluetooth.3 points -

Ehh... I get the whole anticonsumer thing but my issue here is: -Why is Nintendo not included? They have their fair share of exclusives, and some of them aren't first party games. -Why is Epic included but not Steam when they are both essentially free platforms? Especially when Epic has lower Dev fees (supposedly), which in theory will be beneficial to consumers in the long run. -Lastly, the console (MS and Sony ones anyway) don't subsidize these fees. Most consoles are sold at a loss or at cost. The games and the peripherals you buy does, exclusives lure people onto your platform. I actually in some ways no longer understand the outrage over console exclusives in that the market of games are so big, I can't conceivably play everything I want to anyway. I own a Switch for a year and haven't even got time to start playing Breath of the Wild. The bigger the people care about exclusives, the bigger the justification for exclusives.3 points -

Really? PlayStation is Sony's NUMBER ONE cash cow. Without PlayStation, Sony as a whole would be in a very bad spot. PlayStation is KEY for Sony. Xbox is FAR from being a cash cow for Microsoft. Microsoft is very diversified, and Xbox is literally just a side-business for Microsoft in the grand scheme of things. Considering the situation, who do you think would go the furthest to secure success? Microsoft is historically NOT known to stretch themselves to secure success for their platforms: Zune, Surface, Groove Music, MSN, Microsoft PlaysForSure, Windows Phone, and so on as examples. I think it's safe to bet that Sony is desperate to secure PlayStation's success, while Microsoft seems to already have accepted that mediocre games and a "failed" Xbox One generation is OK for them...2 points -

qbrick and one other reacted to +E.Worm Jimmy for a topic
With Microsoft there are now very few games that are exclusive to Xbox only, most first party titles are on PC now as well. Which is exactly the reason I returned my Xbox One S and bought a PS4 instead. I realized there is nothing on Xbox that I want to play that I cannot have on PC as well and I prefer PC for now. Honestly i will likely skip this console generation all together as I don't game much but if I will buy one .. it will be ps5 and about 1 year in - when there will be more games. Same what I did with PS4.. I got PS4 pro. By that time there were a lot for content2 points -

Microsoft has been against console exclusivity for some time. If MS did something it would be "release this everywhere except for Playstation" They were against it for a minute but recently they announced the studios they own will no longer be making games available on third party platform, and their E3 presentation in 2018 had the word "Exclusive" before every trailer so they seem to like the idea2 points -

They've had PSNow quite a while and have had cross play and cross save with PC since PS2/3 respectively. Almost nobody will be switching between PC and console. It wasn't a big deal before and won't really change with game pass. For multiplayer games as a service we already have cross play and cross save on all consoles.2 points -

Chicago rocked by widespread looting caught on video after police-involved shooting

Welcome to US politics. And we all get the grace of being bombarded by it daily from the MSM. Luckily it's really easy to tune it out and realize that the world is actually made of mostly good people and every waking issue isn't x vs y. It would be nice to hear about the good of humanity more often, but I guess that doesn't get views and ratings.1 point -

While you're probably right, comments like this before any pricing is announced seems a bit unnecessary. Plus there's literally 0 obligation to buy the top end best of the best card available, there's many cheaper options from Nvidia. Now if you just hate the price/performance across the entire range against a competitor, then sure complain away.1 point -

Yep. Downward spiral. Thankfully it's giving many other countries an eagle eye view of what path to NOT go down. Americans are tenacious, though. Here's hoping they can come together in the next few years, because if they can't, they'll splinter their country. tbh... I've given up on most Americans above 35... True chance has to come from the progressive 18-30 y olds. Congress & high level state/county functions need to be replaced by young blood, e.g. like AOC. And no, that will not make the US into a socialist country, but hopefully a more fair one. You're joking right? AOC? LOL I stopped listening after the whole above 35 BS.1 point -

Open source Chromium browser shows up on the Microsoft Store
dustojnikhummer reacted to eddman for a topic
I'm not an expert on this, but AFAIK installed as "System" simply means that the OS is in control of the app's folders and files, not the other way around. App's executables are not given access to modify system files or write to system locations. If you have an already compromised windows installation, it doesn't matter if the attack vector is from normal apps or store apps; ownership would make no difference. UAC and anti-virus programs won't really help either.1 point -

Not really. It’s designed to fold in half when opened. What will be awkward is the size. Even more ironic is that this is coming from the same company that created Sideshow.1 point -

The 13" has soldered RAM and SSDs, so double think before you buy. The 15 and 17 have upgradeable RAM and SSDs. Has this always been the case for Dell's 13/15? or more the norm of all manufactures? I mean, I know I'm generalizing but it's an overall question.1 point -

Too much trouble to rollback to 1909 at moment, so guess will just patiently wait at this point, and hopefully i can stand the transfer speed of the drives for now1 point -
