Mark Zuckerberg may have used a private meeting with Trump to launch an attack on TikTok
astropheed and 6 others reacted to shockz for a topic
lol, their response to the question basically confirms Zuck did this. "Can't remember" vs "No, never happened". Oldest trick in the book. I'd sure recall an entire conversation with the president of the United States. Just as I'd be able to recall an entire conversation with the CEO of my company. If it was a coworker or random person somewhere, sure, I may of not been able to remember, one of the most important people in the world? I think I'd know if I bought up my main competitor for market share to Trump.7 points -

I remember back in 1997 living in the future installing Windows 95 OSR2 from a CD on to a AMD K6 or Intel Pentium II PC with a 3.2GB Quantum Fireball HDD and listening to the loud spin up and rattle seek of the drive, and see the blue install progress bars quickly reach 100%, no more floppies for Steve, no, we were in the future!4 points -

And they are absolutely right to do so. I’m not a fan of TikTok (I'm a boomer and i don't “get” it - but that’s not a reason to dislike it)... It has been a hell for parents until recently and (as with most new, rushed to market platforms) had very little in the way of child protection. But if they can stand by their security claims and can argue Trump’s reasoning then all power to them. Let’s be honest, we all know why he has issue with TikTok...4 points -

25 years later, and I shake my head at the latest, and “greatest” operating system we have to put up with today. Installing today’s Windows, feels like asking a parent for permission to do every damn thing (less freedom). Those old operating systems, with all their individual problems, I always felt like I was in charge.3 points -

A lot of mainstream games use Unreal Engine (which is among the most popular tool for game development), expect all of those to lose support if Apple continues to block Epic, potentially millions of users will be affected by this. All Epic has to do [to keep their Developer account] is submit a version without direct payments. They don’t even have to release it, just submit it. And that is the whole point of this lawsuit...3 points -

TikTok is collecting equal or less data than Twitter is. Much less than Facebook. Agreed here. They are not collecting any more data than any other website. There is no security threat. Funny how Trump can think there is a problem when there isn't, but not the other way around.. It's about Trump's bruised ego with Tiktok users ruining his rally. Was never about security. 8 apps we'd like to see come to Windows 10
Mateus and 2 others reacted to n_K for a topic
The Windows Store is perfectly functional ... for apps ... Our company has an app on the app store, it has a unique name, searching for our company name (I've just done this right now) brings up: 15 games (none related to the company, none even have the name in them), followed by 11 movies (again, absolutely no relation to any and that word appears no-where), followed by 3 apps, the first 2 are nothing to do with the company (one is a damn bible app?) and our app is the third. On iOS: our company name brings up all our apps right away. On android: our company name brings up all our apps right away. Sorry the windows store is a complete unfit for purpose piece of ######, always has been and shows no signs of improving. And that's just searching, it also fails in many other areas.3 points -

Recommended PSU calculator vs recommended via GPU site?
Astra.Xtreme and one other reacted to Jim K for a topic
I do not know if Nvidia takes power efficiency into their recommendations nor do I think it matters. A lower efficient PSU is going to draw more power from the wall to achieve power needs of the system. It doesn't mean, necessarily, that a non-efficient 650W won't deliver 650W...it might just need to pull 1.21 Gigawatts from the wall. Assuming non-230V EU cert: 650W on a 80 Plus at 100% load (80%) will pull ~812W from the wall while a 80 Plus Titanium (90%) will be pulling only ~706W from the wall. The 12v rail on the PSU label is probably what Nvidia uses. Though, as I mentioned previously...I think you'll be fine.2 points -

Yes, if someone wanted to buy your house for a discounted price or you were selling a house for a small fee, i might do the same. It's more like if you wanted to rent out your house but the person who sold it to you was demanding a cut every time you do it though they have no legal claim on the house.2 points -

And that's just searching, it also fails in many other areas. Sorry. No, it isn't. Just because you experience an issue(s) does not mean that the Store is an 'unfit for purpose piece of #####'. We do not even know why you experience the issue, so it is meaningless to blame the Store. You're absolutely right. The samsung note 7 is a great phone, so what if they've blown up in people's hands, if there's been a massive recall and ban of them. No, only those people have had those issues, for everyone else it's clearly the best device in the entire world...2 points -
Microsoft reprimands Apple in Epic court battle
matthiew and one other reacted to George P for a topic
A lot of mainstream games use Unreal Engine (which is among the most popular tool for game development), expect all of those to lose support if Apple continues to block Epic, potentially millions of users will be affected by this. Potentially how many of those users will abandon Apple and buy a far more popular Android phone to play Unreal Engine based games? Not many, I bet. Apple are not a monopoly in this market so they can't even be hit with uncompetitive behaviour like Google. Users really do have a choice in the mobile market. Apple is betting that. Apple isn't a monopoly in the overall smartphone market, but it's using it's monopolistic type control over iOS, often giving itself an unfair advantage compared to others. While the 30% IAP cut is something I don't agree with, at all, it's clear that even if it was half, 15%, you still have a issue with Apple, who is no longer "just" the platform holder, but also a direct competitor, being able to price it's stuff cheaper, because they don't pay themselves that IAP cut, or any cut. So, in which way is it exactly fair for Apple to have a choke hold with such silly store policies while they turn around and do stuff like Apple Arcade? They've often using these rules of theirs to cut off devs while giving themselves an advantage in some fashion.2 points -

He doesn't care about anyone except himself. "He doesn't care about anyone except himself." That sums up the power hungry/radical left. they don't give a crap about the average person as it's always about power/control with those snakes. Trump is pro-USA unlike the left who have been taken over by the radicals as it's no longer about petty political differences of the past, but it's become more of a battle of good vs evil and Trump is in the good side. anyone who can see through the lens of Christianity(especially Catholic), which is the truth, knows this. TikTok plans to sue Trump administration over executive order
300z reacted to shockz for a topic
Why does that matter? If the legal system in the US was designed to allow a company to sue due the way this administration handled the ban and implemented the ban, why wouldn’t they? I’m not versed in India law (who also banned), but in the US, it’s possible for TikTok do, and they’ve probably got a good chance of winning with the evidence they will present, and how the EO was signed and to be implemented. Perhaps it’s not possible to sue in other countries? I do know that TikTok was working the resolve the issues with other governments as well.1 point -
