  2. I kinda side with Apple on this one. Sure their fees are outrageous, but Epic signed the contract so they're bound by it. If they don't like it, find another store.

  4. Irrelevant, when the contract is outdated and needs to be revised. Except that it's not. It's current and Epic are bound by its terms. They're just getting salty because they have their own store now and don't want to continue to pay the Apple tax.

  5. Agree about the contract, cant argue with that, but Apple has a monopoly and actively prevents ANY other app stores on its platform - the contract is not the issue here, heathy competition is and Apple is guilty as sin on that one. Apple are not a monopoly on the mobile platform; Google has, by far, a larger user base. Apple produce the hardware, software and store. If you want in, you play by their rules but they are no where near the largest market share on a mobile platform. Apple are, Google i would actually argue are not. With Apple you have a platform where you can only download software from their app store and NO other stores are allowed. Additionally there is no alternative way of installing apps. That's a monopoly. Remember when Microsoft "abused its position" by only providing IE with windows.... This is way worse. Google at least allows you to install apps from alternative sources, there are other app stores available (Fdroid, Amazon etc as an example) and you can sideload apps. So by comparison they are far less restrictive than Apple. I can see Epic's case here against Apple as there is no alternative, however, against Google, not so much. Whilst Google charge 30% (i think) i don't see how that prevents Epic launching an alternative store or providing the package directly form their website. You cannot do that on Apple. You seem to be confusing Apple / Android with the ability to buy apps or install apps at a competitive rate. Completely different. Microsoft had a monopoly because there was no viable operating systems available at the time, that had anywhere near the market share of Windows. You can't pick out Blackberry, for example, and say it has a monopoly because it only allows it's store for Blackberry purchases. It's share of the market is not dominant. Same for Apple. Android and the Google Play store, has a far larger market share for mobile application than Apple. Everyone knows that Apple is a closed shop. It supplies the hardware and software. If you want to write software for the Apple platform, you abide by it's terms and conditions. Android is open source and there are many stores on that platform, many vendors of the devices and significantly more users. It is the dominant platform, as Huawei are finding out. Huawei, however, are still able to sell handsets with their own store and still use Android. "Everyone knows that Apple is a closed shop" And that - right there - is the problem.

There are no alternatives on the Apple store. The current spat has nothing to do with Google. It's about how Apple runs their store. Uh, what? By that logic, Ford has a monopoly on the F150 and Pepsi has a monopoly on Mountain Dew... LG and Samsung should be sued for a monopoly too since we cannot add app stores to their non-Android smart TVs. 🙃 TVs aren't a general compute platform and they don't go out of their way to prevent a Chromecast/Fire stick/Apple TV. That does not mean they shouldn't be more open. Also, what exactly is a general compute platform is another discussion altogether. A computer is a computer is a computer. If we are going to argue about a supposed app store monopoly on a single device, its an appropriate comparison. A Chromecast/fire stick/apple tv is a different device and not at all comparable to what I am saying.

  19. Thing is it’s not *really* retaliation, in the sense that revoking their developer account is a known occurrence for breaking their developer terms. The same thing has and will continue to happen to other developers who break the agreed terms and conditions too. This isn’t an epic exclusive retaliation. It actually isn’t a known occurrence. Getting your app yanked is, losing your account is not. That’s where the retaliation occurred. This is pretty much the case, UE has nothing to do with pulling Fortnite off of the store. The only connection between the two is that they're both from EPIC, it was clearly a retaliatory action on Apples part. The Judge was right in blocking it from happening. The case is about Fortnite and IAP, nothing past that.

  20. The battery market is where innovation is going to take place. Cars that can go on 500 miles plus on a single charge, and charging that can take shorter times as the holy grail. Dinosaur juice engines will then seem so antiquated.

They're just getting salty because they have their own store now and don't want to continue to pay the Apple tax. I don’t know how so many people on this site fail to comprehend this fact. It’s epics choice to be on the App Store or not. If they don’t like the cost of entry they don’t have to be on it, those terms haven’t changed since they saw them acceptable to sign up in the first place.

  42. Trump doesn't have an attention span that long. If he was going to ban Tiktok because of that meeting, then it would have happened long ago. I'm fairly sure it was the group of kids who trolled his rally that got things moving. There actually seems to be a decent amount of Trump supporters that use Tiktok, but I'm sure he won't backtrack on something he said. If you want to put on your tinfoil hat, then I'm sure you could come up with some national security reasons. So far it seems far fetched. You could probably harvest more information from facebook, instagram and twitter than TikTok.

  43. TikTok plans to sue Trump administration over executive order

TikTok is collecting equal or less data than Twitter is. Much less than Facebook. Agreed here. They are not collecting any more data than any other website. There is no security threat. Funny how Trump can think there is a problem when there isn't, but not the other way around.. It's about Trump's bruised ego with Tiktok users ruining his rally. Was never about security. He doesn't care about anyone except himself. "He doesn't care about anyone except himself." That sums up the power hungry/radical left. they don't give a crap about the average person as it's always about power/control with those snakes. Trump is pro-USA unlike the left who have been taken over by the radicals as it's no longer about petty political differences of the past, but it's become more of a battle of good vs evil and Trump is in the good side. anyone who can see through the lens of Christianity(especially Catholic), which is the truth, knows this. Totally delusional and disgusting.
