Ah, the free speech in America misinformation party is here. I'll just post the Wiki info that's relevant: "Freedom of speech, also called free speech, means the free and public expression of opinions without censorship, interference and restraint by the government." Do you think that Youtube/Google is the government? I personally know of many people that have gone to prison due to bogus charges and trickery at the hands of the U.S. government. In the cases I am thinking of, it often boils down to not liking what the man/woman is exposing or educating on, not about law. Let's not fool ourselves into ignoring or overlooking the fact that many/most large corporations, which are licensed and given privileges by the government, do the bidding, at least to some degree, of the government. One easy example that isn't about free speech, almost every single company in operation, small or large, is in violation of the Treasury regulations at CFR 31.3402(p)-1 regarding "voluntary" withholding agreements. Many, if not most, are truly ignorant, but some of them know what they are doing. A few quotes - food for thought: Author Ayn Rand said the following, which has some truth to it: "There is no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't any criminals, the government makes them. The government declares so many things a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws." The author Dresden James said: "The ideal tyranny is that which is ignorantly self-administered by its victims. The most perfect slaves are those, therefore, which blissfully and unwarily enslave themselves." Dr. N. A. Scott said: "One of the shrewdest ways for human predators to conquer their stronger victims is to steadily convince them with propaganda that they are still free." "The truth which makes men free is, for the most part, the truth which men prefer not to hear." – Herbert Agar “Men occasionally stumble over the truth but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened.” – Winston Churchill "When a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, he will either quit being mistaken or quit being honest." – Unknown You aren't understanding. Corporations are not supposed to uphold free speech in America. Free speech in America is the definition I gave. It has nothing to do with what this article is about... at all... not even a little bit. I'm not sure why you are trying to shift.2 points -

They've more or less confirmed it to be the case. "I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on. And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC .......... We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware." https://blog.playstation.com/2...ns-worldwide-studios/" rel="external nofollow">https://blog.playstation.com/2...tations-worldwide-studios/" rel="external nofollow">https://blog.playstation.com/2...stations-worldwide-studios/ He's basically saying "See what great games we have that you've been missing out on. You could've played this a long time ago on PS4. We have more great games coming to PS5; you can play them ASAP on our console, or you could wait a couple of long years, hoping for a PC release, IF they come that is." Or, PC gamers think, Yay more crappy playstation console ports. No thanks, we'll stick with the current gen xbox ports instead. PC gamers are a different bread, it doesn't work like that. What the hell are you talking about? Sure, HZD was a bit broken on launch and it is, but those are issues that can and will be fixed. Death Stranding's PC launch was also smooth and so were all Quantic Dream games. I believe his counter point was that PC gamers are, for the most part, PC gamers only, though a subsection of them, like me, also own a console. PC gamers are perfectly fine with waiting for a game to come to Steam, for example, years later. The idea that Sony releasing older gen versions of their games on the PC before the next gen sequels come out to try and get PC gamers to buy a PS5 is, for the most part, not going to work. Those who are PC gamers and console gamers were probably going to get it anyways, those who are not, and are PC only, and even more so, Steam only, will never buy a PS5, or 6 or 7 etc. They'll wait 3 or 4 or 10 years and if the game comes out on PC, great, if not, they've got a huge backlog of games to play anyways.1 point -

Oh well i can help you then, just resize the Live tile to a different size and then back to what it was, and it will work again. No need to reboot. That's good to know. I did say reboot, but I forgot that I was deleting the tile and re-adding it to fix it. I'll do your solution from now on. thanks1 point -

The PS4, Xbox1, PS5 and XboxSX are pretty much a mini PC around standard PC architecture. The games are built on pretty standard middleware (unreal engine etc..) so console ports are not as bad as they used to be, the only platform which is most alien is the switch but thats low processing power anyway. I think its great that the games are coming over to people who might not have been able to play them earlier, theyre still great games to play.1 point -

What makes them 'dodgy'? A private company wanting copies of everyone's private identification (passports, etc.) plus personal information and pictures which they then store forever should be a big red flag to anyone. Wouldn't trust them to keep the data safe, wouldn't trust them not to sell the data. Going to be another adobe or facebook/cambridge analytica in the future. Their help pages say: "Any details you add to the Yoti app are encrypted into unreadable data, split up and safely stored in our database. Only you have the key to unlock your encrypted details, which is stored safely in your phone, not in our database. Our systems are built in a way that means we cannot mine or sell your data to third parties. Once we’ve completed our security checks, we can’t access any of your personal details. We can’t send your details to a business or individual until you choose to send them." Uhuh, google claimed they followed EU law - did they? No. Microsoft claimed they weren't anti-competitive - were they? Yes. Apple claimed they were paying the right tax - were they? No. Intel claimed they weren't bribing industry against AMD - were they? Yes. Facebook claimed they were securing people's data - were they? No. Noticing a pattern here? I am no fan of Apple, or its treatment of developers, but that statement above seems fair enough to me. They created the whole OS, ecosystem, etc. so having some bespoke functionality available just for themselves, seems like it would be a normal business practice for any corporation. ( keeping in mind that I haven't deeply researched the facts of this particular case though...) Microsoft was sued for that reason (Microsoft vs WordPerfect) Anyways, the market regulation is not about companies earning money but consumers getting a fair deal. Apple users are not.1 point -

( keeping in mind that I haven't deeply researched the facts of this particular case though...) It becomes a issue if you start to compete directly with your own developers and don't give them the same access you have. If Apple uses something in iOS only they know about to do something that can't or isn't being done by apps, then ok. It starts to become a issue when they get a unfair advantage over 3rd party developers making apps that do a specific thing that Apple then starts to do, basically beginning to lock them out of the ability to compete.1 point -
Apple terminates Epic's developer account, removes its games from the App Store
Meduso reacted to FFX for a topic
Microsoft created Windows and Internet explorer which basically became the portal to the Internet for the world. They included Internet Explorer in their own product Windows and they let other developers release browsers for free on their Windows platform and they still faced antitrust charges. How is what Apple is doing different? The only difference is that Apple also greedily milk money out of everyone. It’s different because Microsoft’s OS was a monopoly there was no other viable second option. iOS is not a monopoly in the mobile space. It’s not even the biggest, Android is far bigger. If they don’t lie apples rules they can be on Android. It’s not the same. There were other viable solution, Linux and Mac both existed. I see people in every Epic VS Apple article say that Epic should create their own hardware, software and Appstore if they do not want to comply with Apples rules. It would have been way easier for a company to create an other OS back in the 90s to compete. Heck both Amazon and Microsoft have both had failures in mobile that should tell you something.1 point -

Both.. though I fall on Apples side. Its their Ecosystem, and its been that way since the start.. they didn't make some sneaky change to lock out competitors, or trick anyone.. Plus they aren't the Majority phone OS so that to me rules out Antitrust, as you can always go to Android.. And Epic entered into it knowing the rules, then chose to ignore them.. Epic on the other hand.. Tim Sweeney is a tool. This whole thing was a PR stunt, and he thought he was big enough to call Apple's bluff.. problem is, Apple is incredibly stubborn.. So that failed.. and it'll take YEARS for this to go through the courts. Plus Apple isn't done, they can still get the injunction dropped and nuke their Engine from having Developer access too.. Sure why shouldnt apple have a piece of the royalties from Epics work? having a piece is okay, but 30% ? that's not even justifiable !!. Just imagine in other cases where apples own service like apple music can charge at 0% and sportify or any other music provider have to pay 30% of their money and would also have to compete in prices with apple music!! The apple cut should be way less that 30%, around 5-15%! It's their eco system for which end user pays by paying premium price, apple is just milking cow at this point! Just for a second think about small developers which have to pay 30% of their money . What is not justifiable about it? Do you think servers are cheap to run and maintain for tens of millions of people? And all the people they have to pay to work on them.. and the infrastructure and tools to support all of it? That ###### ain't free. Here, Steve Jobs himself can explain it to you. https://youtu.be/MfQtnQHLNcs?t=3939 Developers already pay a yearly fee to have an app in the store. Well, they pay even not having one. And are forced to buy a mac to develop it. Once an app has been downloaded Apple's servers do nothing, it's installed in the user's device and interacts with the developer's server. Again, Apple's servers do nothing apart of handling the store.1 point -

In related news, nobody likes to discuss just how much opportunity Apple store has provided to developers. Based on the latest I find, Apple paid 155 Billion $ to developers since 2008 (https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/0...-50-billion-in-2019.html)." rel="external nofollow">https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/0...f-50-billion-in-2019.html). It's super easy to bash a large company because hey why not - but fact is that millions of people made their living (and still do so) thanks to that very App store. It obviously goes both ways, Apple also sold tons of phones and made billions of profit because many people consider them having platform where you can get best and most polished apps. Thry are now the biggest fish of lake, so it's not that surprising that others want bigger piece of the pie. The case of removal of Hey email app from App store, and followed events couple months ago also showed that negative publicity may be a good option to affect Apple's decisions. I actually have zero problem with putting pressure on Apple (and Google Play, which takes the same cut). Developers should do so, if they feel so inclined. My problem is with whining of anti-competitive behavior AFTER you have signed on the dotted line, the action which helped put you into the dominant position (Epic). Then all of a sudden, you are pretending to be fighting the power. Right! 😂 What many missed is that Epic, when they introduced the in-app direct payment (bypassing Apple's cut) had two options: price with Apple's cut: $9.99 and price without ($7.99). Guess what - if people pay $9.99 original amount which then after Apple's cut is $6.99 to Epic. See what they did there? They did not actually make their 'direct' price to be 'price with no Apple tax'. Instead, it is a 'price where Epic gets more $ and Apple is cut out'. Again, I don't blame them for wanting this but again, we go back to contracts...1 point -
