I had no idea he was going through this. I don’t remember reading anywhere about him having colon cancer. His family and friends must have kept this really quiet. Wonder how many out there will be watching Black Panther / Avengers, 42, or 21 Bridges again as a tribute to him. 43 is far too young to be taken by something as horrible as cancer. R.I.P5 points -

It’s so laughable that Microsoft was hell bent on shoving their worthless apps down our throats since launch of Windows 10. Now they are making them optional. I just use a reg tweak to remove it from day1 though.4 points -

I've re-done the thermal paste, and replaced the bluray drive on my launch 60gb PS3. In addition, I've swapped the power supply with a latter compatible model that produces less heat. There some amazing PS 1, 2, & 3 games that didn't get re-released or a replacement equivalent. (Edit) - I will be putting in a high capacity name brand SSD in this while the PSN network is still functional for the PS3. In theory, once everything is downloaded, the SSD should hold up longer then a spinning drive since most of the usage will be read's and not writes. I didn't expect the PS5 to play PS1-PS3, at least via the original disc. If there any PS1,2,3 games via emulation / BC, I expected they were going to re-sell you a digital copy.3 points -

What makes them 'dodgy'? A private company wanting copies of everyone's private identification (passports, etc.) plus personal information and pictures which they then store forever should be a big red flag to anyone. Wouldn't trust them to keep the data safe, wouldn't trust them not to sell the data. Going to be another adobe or facebook/cambridge analytica in the future. Their help pages say: "Any details you add to the Yoti app are encrypted into unreadable data, split up and safely stored in our database. Only you have the key to unlock your encrypted details, which is stored safely in your phone, not in our database. Our systems are built in a way that means we cannot mine or sell your data to third parties. Once we’ve completed our security checks, we can’t access any of your personal details. We can’t send your details to a business or individual until you choose to send them." Uhuh, google claimed they followed EU law - did they? No. Microsoft claimed they weren't anti-competitive - were they? Yes. Apple claimed they were paying the right tax - were they? No. Intel claimed they weren't bribing industry against AMD - were they? Yes. Facebook claimed they were securing people's data - were they? No. Noticing a pattern here? A pattern like a claim might actually be complete ######? Because anyone can make a claim, they don't need to supply proof of it.3 points -

This is false. What they said is that the 360 and original xbox games, that are already backwards compatible with X1, will also work on XSX. Only about 28% of 360 games and 41 (not percent) OG xbox titles are backwards compatible with X1. Also, IINM, only OG xbox games can be installed from disc. When a 360 game disc is inserted, it wont install from disc; instead the game will be automatically downloaded for free.2 points -

Some additional info about the Connect App, that I have posted here before. This can be used to turn any computer/tablet into a Second Monitor with full bi-directional input, including Stylus/Pen support. So if you have a Notebook and a Surface Tablet, run Connect App on the Surface Tablet, and it becomes a wireless Second Monitor, hit connect from your Windows PC or Notebook, or even another Surface Tablet. You can also use the Touch features and the Stylus on the Surface, so you can run Photoshop on a faster computer than the Surface, and use the Surface like a Display Tablet (Huion/Cintiq/etc). - Since input is bidirectional, the full features of the Pen/Stylus's Pressure/Tilt/etc work automatically. Essentially, this works like Apple's Sidecar, except better, and has been around a lot longer. (It was nice of Apple to think this was worth copying, even though they have a limited experience in comparison.) Even if you are considering a portable second monitor for your notebook, also consider buying a Windows Tablet or 2in1, and use it as your portable monitor - which can also double as an extra device/computer/tablet. (Often you can find cheap Windows 10 Tablets for $100-300 - often the same cost as a portable monitor.) Having an additional touchscreen is also handy for workflows where you can take advantage of the touch features on the Tablet/Surface and use it like a touch control board or move your tools/palettes to Surface/Tablet for quick touch access. - Setups like you see demoed on devices like the Zenbook Duo with dual screens. Since it is just another monitor you can put whatever you want on the second display. This also works with LOW END Windows 10 Tablets, like the $100 8-10" tablets. They can become a touch screen/panel for your notebook or a secondary monitor, or since several of these tablets have an active stylus/pen - they become display tablets for free, and are a lot cheaper than buying a dedicated display tablet. Some cheaper tablets have better WiFI cards, and this is where the experience can vary. If you are in a heavy noise/traffic radio area, it can cause latency, but since the technology uses WiDi (Direct) latency is often tiny at worst even with a crappy 72mbps 2.4ghz Wifi card in the tablet.2 points -

Welcome to a real firefight. This wasn't TV or a movie; most shots miss, you keep firing until the threat is subdued, and sometimes you get shot too. Some of these guys will take a crazy number of hits and keep shooting. In the 1986 Miami shootout, the FBI vs. a pair of serial bank robbers, the perps were hit 6 and 12 times before they went down. 2 agents dead, 3 wounded. Not so much blind as instructed by walls & doors.2 points -

Apple terminates Epic's developer account, removes its games from the App Store
300z and one other reacted to matthiew for a topic
What's not fair about it? A few weeks ago it was revealed that Apple have had secret deals with some developers charging them a smaller fee than everyone else on the app store. For example, Amazon only pay 15% instead of 30%. That gives Amazon an an unfair advantage. Apple have also copied other apps e.g. Apple Music copying Spotify. Apple's own apps have an unfair advantage over competitors on their app store becaues Apple don't have to go through their approval process or pay that extra 30% fee. Apple have also crippled 3rd-party apps when they release their own versions. For example when they introduced Screen Time. Other apps in the store already had that feature, and then lost it when Apple introduced their version. Being able to copy someone else's app/feature and then block it is unfair.2 points -

No it's not. There is no government authority that says mass testing is detrimental or a 'scam'. $40 billion net profit in vaccines alone will influence what "authorities" say. Believe what you want. Lol This is a disease that's only dangerous for the very old and the very ill. And we've known this for months. Utterly wrong. If all you are focusing on is deaths, then certain age groups are definitely more susceptible. Your use of the word "only" is wrong. You have excluded people who were healthy and who have died, even if they are a small amount against the total figure. You're also equating dangerous with death, which is again, false. There's a growing body of evidence showing this disease will create long term problems for survivors, young and old. This is also dangerous, and potentially impacts a high percentage of people who have contracted it.2 points -

1) Carriers mafia. For example, if you want to buy a Xiaomi in the USA, then you are in a shortlist of carriers that allow it, and only a few models. Worldwide there are many options available, just buy the phone, insert the chip and that's it. 2) Apple marketing aimed at the young audience and Apple uses a lot of placement to do that. 3) Misleading marketing (using placement). For example, to conclude that Apple = quality so it is worth the price, where it is not even true. If you look at the marketing of Apple, it never says it directly but it uses several sites, people, "influencers" and such that preaches the same word again and again. Apple = quality, everything else is dangerous, bad, and unstable (aka FUD).2 points -

I am no fan of Apple, or its treatment of developers, but that statement above seems fair enough to me. Nvidia RTX 3000 AIB leaks have almost confirmed the specs of next-gen RTX 3090 and 3080
Meduso reacted to Paul1979UK for a topic
The more mugs that buy them, the more Nvidia will keep pushing up the price until they say no more, that is the name of the game and these cards could already be a lot cheaper if people used a bit of common sense. But honestly I wouldn't worry about it, developers don't really target higher end hardware because most can't afford it, the next gen console specs are the real interesting thing because that will give us a real idea of what developers will target over the next 5 or so years, on the PC all you need is to be able to do that with a few extra bells and whistles, 60fps at the given resolution you play at and you end up with the vast bulk of the quality of the game without paying through the nose.1 point -

Mindovermaster reacted to +Biscuits Brown for a topic
On the sides of the fans there should be little arrows like the ones shown below. Orient the fans so one has the arrow pointing in toward the heatsink and the other pointing away from the heat sink - meaning both fans are blowing air in the same direction. Now reinstall the the cooler so that the fans are oriented to line up with your exhaust fan. I cant tell if the fans themselves are installed correctly since I can only see one but I can tell you the ideally the heatsink should be rotated 90 degrees like the one shown below.1 point -
Samsung's 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM arriving for smartphones in 2021
samw61 reacted to Ccl Ncc for a topic
Are they making it bigger just for Android or because that's just how technology works? RAM sizes increase and prices decrease, processors and RAM get faster, storage devices get larger...I don't see the problem here. Bit of both (as per my opinion), iOS also needs more RAM over time as the operating systems keeps on getting more and more complicated and real-time things also ads a lot of OS memory consumption, what bogles me is that Android's memory management is so lack luster that it can't keep up with the iOS's performance with half the RAM, time to time. Not to mention, the whole OS in iOS part feels much more smooth experience with less RAM.1 point -
