NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 doubles Doom Eternal performance at max settings
Steven P. and 2 others reacted to Eddo89 for a topic
How is an ad. It reads like an ad because it speaks in unverified claims of the producer of the product and doesn't even attempt to bring up any critical aspects of the product, e.g. the GTX 3080 may use up to 350W with a 12-pin power connector, in other words a massive power draw. Not mentioned at all. Of course, but this information is taken from Nvidia, Neowin has no insight into the actual performance. None at all. Just regurgitate what Nvidia claims. Right and that information also comes from Nvidia. It's regurgitation of PR, which usually needs to be paid for, because it's advertisement - but I guess some websites are so lazy they'll do it for free. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Are you new to tech? I can't tell if you are serious or not. This does not seem an ad, you are picking at straws looking to be offended at something. This is not a review, it literally just says it doubles Doom Eternal performance at max settings. Says nVdia showcased it. If the 12 pin connector is to mentioned, it will be just a quick quip at the end maybe. Does every single article about the 3080 has to talk about every single specs? Like the VRAM, tensor cores, power connector, etc etc etc? Get a grip. It was perfectly clear who released the video, what more do you want? Regurgitation of PR does not mean paid ad. But this is a tech news site, crap tons of news are relaying information from tech companies that may be of interest. This is definitely of interest to a lot of people as people want to see a real world example rather than "twice as fast as 2080 Ti" on a chart. People come to sites like Neowin to see things like this, people don't go to Intel or Nvdia for news every day. By your logic, covering the speech of the president automatically means you are a mouth piece of the government if you don't fact check every single sentence or give opinion at every moment. Absolutely ridiculous stance. Are you going to go have a go at: Engadget: https://www.engadget.com/gefor...ameplay-demo-174731286.html and criticize their article? No mention of connector, mainly just talk about the video. Tom's Hardware: https://www.tomshardware.com/n...-rtx-3080-doom-eternal-demo where the only thing of note they covered is the driver details. The connector is oddly missing too, is ok, they must be shills too. Extremetech: https://www.extremetech.com/ga...rtx-2080-ti-in-doom-eternal who has a bit nuanced article but you should be all over them for the headline sounding like an ad. But again, no mention of the all important 12 pin connector or power draw. PC Gamer: https://www.pcgamer.com/au/wat...0-ti-at-4k-in-doom-eternal/ - nothing to report, must also be a nvidia shill. Do I have to go on and on and on? I simply can't find an article from most reputable sources about the 350 W power draw of the 3080 AND Doom Eternal showcase, at least not commonly discussed. This information has been discussed widely by everyone including Neowin probably.3 points -

I think this might actually be related to the european anti-trust and case with epic, this is their silver pudding of "we listened to companies - facebook said they didn't like it so we've delayed it by a year" which is complete b/s but a court would probably buy that excuse.3 points -

Remove Putin's Spyware. Hehe I love comments like these. You don't want Putin to track you, but you prefer your own government to. What is the biggest threat for you? Someone thousands of miles away or feet away? By the way - the comment is generic. You are getting tracked even if you think you are not. The war is which goverment will get your data (look at TikTok example) Well, this may sound picky, but if I have to choose, I pick people that don't poison their opposition and critics.2 points -

It is much improved over the previous version You can see the editor toolbar now Media embeds (like Twitter) are now dark too, and styled properly within the post Other elements that were forgotten in the previous version like some fonts and text fields have been styled Things we are aware of: We know some buttons like "pinned" in forum lists and others are still white Right now we have not set it to the default for guests, so if you want to see it, login! Feedback welcomed and a huge thanks to @DaveLegg for a great job!1 point -

I may be wrong, but I think the speed of a wave depends on its frequency and the medium it's traversing at least, so both kinds of waves shouldn't travel at the same speed. Kind of like the Cherenkov radiation, don't recall the specifics either but it was a blueish hue that could be seen in some reactors because some emitted particles were able to travel faster than light in that medium.1 point -

devHead reacted to dirtyvu for a topic
So like where have you been 5G has been Around since December when T-Mobile launched 5G and now that they have Sprint they now have even stronger and greater 5 shame they have low band 5G and mid band 5G which has been shown to reach gigabit speeds and such very fast speeds and they have millimeter wave 5G coming to certain cities life in is not a technology in which T-Mobile wants to rely on so guess what T-Mobile has nationwide 5G right now so it is not years away it is now Drinking too much of the t mobile Kool aid. The US has the slowest 5g in the world and t mobile is a major reason. The average 5g speed in the US is around 51mbps. Compare that with canada 4g which averages 60mbps. Or canada 5g which is around 178mbps. Or Australia 5g which is over 200mbps or south Korea 5g which is over 300mbps. Low band spectrum gets you coverage but not speed. For true 5g speeds, it's not going to be low band spectrum. T mobile demoed mmwave's inability to pass through objects convincingly. However, they ignored the fact that mmwave bounces off walls and objects very well. Which means if you're in the same "room" as the tower (like an outdoor park or a building or a tower), you're going to get real 5g performance. And once carriers use a combination of mmwave for outdoor and midBand frequencies for indoor, then the dream of 5g will become reality. And this will takes years.1 point -

You will need a keyboard. mouse and screen to get your system setup, and prep it for RDP when you need to. I do that already for my plex server. So, it also depends on your operating system. If windows, you will have to allow logon without user intervention, you will get security risk flags. I also have a dongle that imitates a screen plugged in, which is needed for transcoding in my case.1 point -
