  1. Amazon Prime is a Scam!

You got a credit. On a trial. The horror! Edit: Holy hell....who dredged this up from the bowels of Neowin? We need our time stamps back.

  2. EA removes ads from UFC 4 following backlash

Putting ads in full-priced games is pathetic, so is most of the monetization that goes on nowadays for that matter. Enabling this crappy monetization after launch so that it doesn't get mentioned in reviews or affect review scores is equally pathetic, but commonplace nowadays sadly. If you're worried about a "feature" being mentioned in reviews in a negative way, perhaps you shouldn't put it in your game? Just sayin...

  3. Amazon Prime is a Scam!

My mom is the Prime member; however, the whole family (including her fiance and myself) have bought everything (from honey to tires) via Prime - and that is just this year. (In fact, we saved enough on the tires alone to pay for their installation.) Honey - I purchase raw honey monthly via Prime - in my mom's case, she purchases vitamins that way, along with household goods via Prime Pantry. We have Prime Video on all our FireTV sticks and Fire tablets - and I've added my Windows desktop to the category; now that I know it works, I'll be adding Mom's desktop this week. Due merely to Prime Video alone, we have not had to purchase so much as ONE movie or DVD in the past two years. Makes the $89USD annually a bargain - merely in cost avoidance.

  5. Facebook announces measures to protect the U.S. elections

If Facebook wants to actually 'protect' the elections, they just need to shutdown right now and not open back up again until... Actually, just never open back up again. That would be best. They are the worst thing ever invented by humans.

  6. I would be interested in hearing what legacy code in Windows 10 makes it buggy? NTFS is one of them, takes 2 time longer to build code on windows than on linux, because of the crappy old filesystem windows has What code takes twice as long to build on Windows than Linux, and what are you measuring filesystem performance during with this build process to make this determination? What code are you referring to? Thats not even discounting the fact that performance is not what I asked about. What in NTFS makes Windows 10 buggy? do you work at microsoft? google: npm windows slow google: compile c++ windows slow google: ntfs vs ext4 performance Do you know how to backup your claims? Telling me to Google isn’t it. I’ll entertain any claim you can back up. Burden of proof is on the person making the claim, anything else is considered trolling. In case you forgot what your claim was: legacy code makes Windows 10 buggy. Back it up or let everyone see you are talking BS. ok then you are clueless Thank you for confirming what we already suspected—you were just talking BS. It’s a pity, I was truly interested in knowing what legacy code made Windows 10 buggy. 🤷🏻‍♂️ you are the reason why windows 10 is a giant mess you are blind and refuses to see the true reality of windows, it's a giant mess of legacy code, that builds up over time ask people what they think about windows.h and its APIs #nothingChanges #foreverBehind #slowByDesignOS #weDontCareAtAll #compileAndWaitForever #removeNothing #improveNothing #testNothing Legacy code doesn't mean bad code and rewrites for the sake of rewrites is the fool's gold standard of development. "developpers, developpers, developpers" windows propaganda result; they all left and went on linux/macos for development I'm sure they did.

  7. Amazon Prime is a Scam!

Not exactly. You as a consumer are responsible for researching items and prices before you buy it. Amazon allows third parties to sell items on their website. These 3rd parties may choose to sell an item for cheaper than Amazon sells it for. It does not mean Amazon is marking up the price. However, even if Amazon does mark up the price for the items listed as Prime, you have to consider that those items are backed by Amazon's return policy which is very good and easy. I could see them marking up a bit to help cover their own costs. Lastly, Prime memberships are good for people who frequently buy items on amazon. But, on a very rough uncaclulated average, you will probably need to buy about 20 average sized items a year on amazon for you to break even on the prime membership fee, plus you get free streaming of movies. If you have an .edu or student email, prime is offered to you at $49 a year instead of $99. I would not pay $99 for Prime, but I would pay $49. It is not exactly a scam, it is a valid business model. You as a consumer have to decide whether you will benefit from it or not.

They plaster real sporting events with ads too, don't they? What's your point? That I'm not really surprised when fake events do the same things real ones do? I'm still not sure what your point is, or more specifically why you responded to my post with that. I'm not surprised either, not least because I'm not surprised by any of the crap the gaming industry pulls nowadays. But it doesn't stop it being pathetic.

  18. How is Azure less stable? This gif is not edited: https://ibb.co/cLxMcD8" rel="external nofollow">https://ibb.co/cLxMcD8" rel="external nofollow">https://ibb.co/cLxMcD8 Corollary: I use azure and office 365 services without any tracking prevention. Which is not any evidence that Azure is less stable. It means 365 did crash somewhere. Are you in a position to know what or where? I’m guessing not. I develop an app against an API hosted on AWS and it’s gone down a few times. AWS must be less stable than Azure. Sounds pretty silly, doesn’t it. Agreed with this. I've found office 365 and actually sharepoint to go down quite a few times, every time I've seen it come back up within minutes, our company relies heavily upon office/sharepoint. AWS on the other hand is something we host servers on but isn't something everyone uses constantly. There was one big AWS downtime I remember where the IP was lost (that was when I discovereds elastic IPs), constantly with AWS I don't see "down time" per-se but issues connecitng, like RDP will give me errors about being unable to connect but then work a few minutes later. All in all I would AWS is about as stable as Azure which is about as stable as any online service, no online service has 100% uptime, even if you hosted it yourself with backup generators there's always a chance or e.g. a routing error.

  26. The problem that Flash had was that it was misused. I had seen entire sites built with Flash, an atrocity. I don't talk about interactive microsites (for that it was perfect, I still remember the astonishing conclaveobscurum.ru site, which I wish they would redo in simple html), but about corporate sites with dozens of pages and a bunch of content that didn't have any need to be built with flash. Horrible.

  29. Microsoft has Azure that, while it is not as stable as Amazon AWS but it is easiest to use (and it is one of the goals of the cloud!). But my main gripe is what if we need to move outside of the cloud? Microsoft gives alternatives while most technologies of Amazon are around to use its service. Outside of the cloud, Amazon is practically a parasite of the open-source community. IMHO, Microsoft is more open-platform than Amazon and it is shocking, after all, we are talking about Microsoft. Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle are specialists in on-site installation with some pros and cons.

  40. Facebook announces measures to protect the U.S. elections

Well they are wrong - you can get infected by Covid19 if you go out to vote, if you go out to the store, if you go out anywhere. YOU CAN get infected. Thing is if you can go protest, if you can go to walmart, if you can go out to eat you can go out to vote and shouldn't have no issues doing so. As for posts about the election results - fine, then tell CNN, MSNBC, CBSNEWS and all the others to stop posting results state by state as they will and have done in every election before even 10% of the votes are counted..they just declare winners regardless. I will never use Crapbook because they think they are helping but they are not when all else is going on around them.

  41. I don't think anyone else would've supported the MCC as much as MS has and still does. The updates on the way are very good ones, specially the server browser. I still expect them to add Halo 4 and 5 to the collection and bring them to PC at some point as well. This things going to keep growing and evolving for years to come. Halo Infinite might be where it ends since they plan to have HI be it's own "base" which they'll expand on, so don't see that ever going to the MCC.
