Microsoft Xbox Series X and Series S pricing detailed, launches November 10th [Update]
Lil Alien and 2 others reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
Pricing is better than expected, especially the S. Nice. Like previous financing subscriptions from MS, this feels like the rebel days of the early 90s where they made technology significantly cheaper and accessible to everyone. (To the point of pissing off every predatory tech company in the industry.) - There is no reason Sony can't the same, so this isn't unfair or dumping, and I hope Sony does something similar or better.3 points -

If you think that's bad, look at the Ember coffee mugs. I had to do a day one firmware update to get it to work right with the Android app and it failed repeatedly. I - had - to - do - a - firmware - update - to - my - coffee - mug! It was a gift, I wouldn't have purchased one. The best thing about it was showing it to people and telling them that I had to do a firmware update on my coffee cup. And the fact that when you first open the package you are greeted with a warning to not get the saucer wet because it charges by direct contact. It does keep coffee warm, but so would any rechargeable coffee mug. Did I mention I had to do a firmware update on my coffee mug?3 points -

Apple countersues Epic for breach of contract, says will claim punitive damages
matthiew and one other reacted to Brony for a topic
So in sum, Apple is crying a river about its image and how EPIC is the true villain. Apple is truly clueless; it is a civil case instead of a criminal case. Why Apple wants to open its own pandora box.? For example, it claims that Epic won +600m, and EPIC is not the Robin Hood that it claims to be (where?). So, EPIC could say: how much Apple earned? (and Apple will be forced to divulge it), followed by a: EPIC won +600m, but we spend +600m; how much Apple spends on putting a single product virtually on the store?. (note it will lead that Apple did an unfair deal, and checkmate for Apple) Also, EPIC could compare itself with Android and Windows, for example, to say that they earned over a billion in Windows, so comparatively speaking, EPIC earned less with Apple. In this case, Apple is an abusive landlord, while EPIC is the annoying junkie living there. Then this junkie was kicked out because he decided not to pay the whole rent. And it would have been the end of the story. But the junkie decided to whine publicity against the landlord, and the landlord decides (in his big wisdom), to sue him. Sooner or later, the judge will found that the landlord rented a shi*** place at an abusive price. The junkie could be annoying but he still has rights. Also, the landlord owns the whole building and most tenants are junkies.2 points -

If Biden Wins, the US and China will work together on the CCP version To be honest I'm not even sure if the China stuff will calm down even if Biden takes over. There was that story a couple of weeks back which said Biden's team had been to uninstall TikTok from their device. The intelligence agencies in the UK were pushing for the removal of Huawei hardware from networks too so this whole thing could be bigger than Trump or Biden and exist as an issue no matter the president. Firmware for earbuds? oh good grief, sometimes the simple technology is still the best, a good pair of wired headphones will give better audio than any of these overpriced earbuds, and they will last for years. I have some Pioneers, that I have had for years, have to be a good 25 years old, and yet they are still as good now as when they were new. A bit large to take out maybe, but i also have some nice Sony ones, cost about £30 for using while out. Cheap and reliable, and they are not going to fall out of your ear and get lost either.2 points -

Putting ads in full-priced games is pathetic, so is most of the monetization that goes on nowadays for that matter. Enabling this crappy monetization after launch so that it doesn't get mentioned in reviews or affect review scores is equally pathetic, but commonplace nowadays sadly. If you're worried about a "feature" being mentioned in reviews in a negative way, perhaps you shouldn't put it in your game? Just sayin...2 points -

The Chinese Government look like angels in regards of telling lies compared to the current U.S Administration. Over 80% of your posts are anti-trump (not that I blame you), but I don’t even think you are in or are from the US. Is being anti-trump a requirement of where you live and you must post a certain amount of content or are there no local politics you can be posting about? Will you say something negative about China or Xi? When was the last time you saw Xi Jinping rage tweeting/retweeting more than fifty times in a morning? China steals technology, persecutes it's Uighur and is aggressive to its neighbors with land and sea claims among other issues but at least their President isn't mentally ill. Seriously, if you or anyone else knew someone who rage tweets like Trump would would question their sanity.1 point -

If it has the same CPU and storage performance as the X model (and enough memory), it won't. Games on both X and S should have the same graphical fidelity and frame rate, with resolution being the only difference. Well, at least that's how it should be. It would be a PR disaster if games on XSS end up with lower details, effects, etc. I don't think they will look the same graphically, not when the S has 4 teraflops and the X 12, it can't look the same in my opinion.1 point -

I'm seeing more people say that the all digital version of the PS5 will be $299 and I don't see how that's possible - at least not without Sony taking a huge loss on each system. While rumors suggest Sony found it difficult to lower production cost of the PS5, I still think the price will be quite high. Granted, we don't know the price for either version of the PS5, but let's say it's the expected $499. Removing a disc drive isn't going to shave off 200 bucks so Sony can hit the $299 price point. Even if the regular PS5 is $399, just removing the disc drive isn't a 100 dollar savings. I think the One S puts Sony in an unfavorably pricing situation. IMO, I do think Sony will be aggressive with their pricing and sell at a loss just so they can get closer to $399. Given Sony's utter dominance, I think the gamble will pay off and they will sell enough consoles to make up for the initial losses. Again, just my opinion, though. Agreed, even the $100 reduction would be huge and it would definitely be selling the Digital Edition at loss, but I think it will have to take this hit to get somewhat close to Microsoft. Anything over $400 would be impossible to sell against the Series S budget-wise (not talking about availability of games). I don't expect it to get close to $299 at all though, not with its internals. I think Microsoft pulled a very smart move strategically by challenging Sony in the budget market in the next-generation, don't think Sony was expecting this aggressive pricing. But since more competition is almost always beneficial for consumers, I'm not complaining at all1 point -

As a person with a 1080p TV (yes, still! ;) ), at $299, this is an insta-buy for me (Microsoft needs to just convince me a bit more with games though, kinda underwhelmed by those so far). If the PS5 digital is priced at $399, I'm all set for the next-generation.1 point -

I would be interested in hearing what legacy code in Windows 10 makes it buggy? NTFS is one of them, takes 2 time longer to build code on windows than on linux, because of the crappy old filesystem windows has What code takes twice as long to build on Windows than Linux, and what are you measuring filesystem performance during with this build process to make this determination? What code are you referring to? Thats not even discounting the fact that performance is not what I asked about. What in NTFS makes Windows 10 buggy? do you work at microsoft? google: npm windows slow google: compile c++ windows slow google: ntfs vs ext4 performance Do you know how to backup your claims? Telling me to Google isn’t it. I’ll entertain any claim you can back up. Burden of proof is on the person making the claim, anything else is considered trolling. In case you forgot what your claim was: legacy code makes Windows 10 buggy. Back it up or let everyone see you are talking BS. ok then you are clueless Thank you for confirming what we already suspected—you were just talking BS. It’s a pity, I was truly interested in knowing what legacy code made Windows 10 buggy. 🤷🏻♂️ you are the reason why windows 10 is a giant mess you are blind and refuses to see the true reality of windows, it's a giant mess of legacy code, that builds up over time ask people what they think about windows.h and its APIs #nothingChanges #foreverBehind #slowByDesignOS #weDontCareAtAll #compileAndWaitForever #removeNothing #improveNothing #testNothing Legacy code doesn't mean bad code and rewrites for the sake of rewrites is the fool's gold standard of development. "developpers, developpers, developpers" windows propaganda result; they all left and went on linux/macos for development I'm sure they did. 😛 Yeah no point in talking at him. i am the blind one We are finally in agreement.1 point -
