Twitter updates guidelines against disinformation ahead of U.S. election

In before right wingers cry censorship. Fact checking isnt censorship. They aren't taking down your tweets or silencing you, they're putting facts underneath your tweet. Its no one's fault that you don't believe in facts or science. If you want to see actual censorship, look at right wing platforms like Parler who ban people just for being left wing or for presenting factual information. If you've been banned on twitter, its because you tried to do something that could result in violence or real life harm, and its just well known that this behavior is more prevalent on the right.3 points -

The average consumer doesn't care for specs. Part of what turned people off the Xbox One was it was running games at half the frame rate and/or half the resolution, but there were other factors there too. It'll be interesting to see what happens. No it wasn't. What turned people off were the lack of interesting exclusives. That's what people judge their purchase on. Literally nobody is going to buy the more powerful console when it doesn't have a good library of games. Eventually yes but at launch day one specifically the Xbox One released with more big games (lol @ Fighter Within and Loco Cycle though) https://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Xbox_One_Launch_Titles https://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/PlayStation_4_Launch_Titles The PS4 has a way bigger and more varied library. 360 had a lot more variety and support than One as well.1 point -

Report: Chinese government would rather see TikTok U.S. shut down than being forcefully sold
domboy reacted to PGHammer for a topic
While the Chinese are ######, this fact is irrelevant to Trump's latest presidential temper tantrum. He's selectively applying rules he just yanked out of his fat ass because the users of TikTok epically trolled this idiot regarding the Tulsa rally and he can't go after thousands of teenagers. Trump specifically made it clear that his "order" doesn't affect all of the other computer related businesses these Chinese parent companies do in the USA, from video games (re: Riot, Activision/Blizzard, etc.) on down, so that makes it really obvious what his agenda really is here. Any judge is going to injunction this arbitrary nonsense until after the election. But instead of selling out on his whim, the Chinese could just shutter TikTok for a few months until Biden can clean this mess up too. I'm all for an adult examination of our relationship with China. But the idiot Trump isn't even capable of understanding the scope or nature of the problem. Better for the adults in the room to handle this next year. Look, I don't know where you've been the last 25 years, but no Democrat or Republican politician has given two asses about China and how they were destroying the American manufacturing sector. Clinton started it, Bush enhanced it, and Obama just didn't care. Romney wouldn't have changed anything, Hillary wouldn't have, McCain etc. I don't know where you get this notion that somehow if Biden and his Democrats win, then magically they will become adults and handle China properly. There is literally nothing in Biden's 50 year record to show he will do anything to China. The US government didn't care about China until Trump came in, therefore the so called adult examination of our relationship you call for only happened because of Trump, not anybody else. Dial the TDS down. macrosslover - Your points are spot-on. (If anything, given Biden's track record - both as Senator AND as Vice-President under Obama, he will continue to tap-dance around getting tough against ANY nation that screws over the United States on trade.) The last President that TRIED to get tough on trade - William Jefferson Clinton - got a ton of pushback - from BOTH parties in Congress. It isn't just the Trump supporters that have pointed that out, either. So has Floating, seta-san, Emn1ty, and a few others that either have no political opinion or don't like President Trump. My own criticism of the policy has nothing to DO with President Trump - or even the United States! But *no* - it's "Orange Man Bad" - when it has nothing to do with him.1 point -

My kids and I are in the UK and my daughter doesn't have to worry about it being banned over here fortunately. She and her mates use it all the time. It seems to be the new Bebo. Most teenagers seem to be using it these days. Our government over here sure isn't perfect. They are trying to break international law at the moment (I hope that doesn't fly with MP's), but they don't hold childish grudges against people and companies the way Trump does. That man is an embarrassment of the western world and more importantly for the US. I feel nothing but empathy for our US partners. I hope things change for the better soon.1 point -

The US government didn't care about China until Trump came in, therefore the so called adult examination of our relationship you call for only happened because of Trump, not anybody else. Dial the TDS down. Yes, the American manufacturing sector was sold old by the 1% and our bought and sold politicians did nothing about it. But neither did Trump. In case you missed it, he didn't actually "do anything" with China, mate. He lied over and over again specifically to drum up anti-China sentiment among the ignorant and gullible racist fools who can't tell that he's a lying incompetent crook. It also gave him leverage in personally grifting Ivanka's Chinese copyright deals, etc. But I'm sure that that's just a coincidence, right? Regardless, the adults in the room have known since before Obama that now it is too late to do anything about it because all manufacturing is going robotic anyway. Even in China they are laying off millions as they replace them with the latest generation of robots capable of making iPhones. So, now you are whining about something that is a long lost cause and giving props to a con-man who just used the Chinese as yet another xenophobic racist foil for his own narcissistic ends. Notice how manufacturing did not return to America under the idiot Trump? Notice that no new trade agreement or any meaningful changes were actually accomplished? It was all just a racist smokescreen for suckers. Don't be one of them. So, yes, the adults returning to the White House will normalize relations with China again. And, no, that doesn't mean childishly and ignorantly turning them into the big bad enemy for something that our own 1% did to all of us purely for their own greed. After all, who do you think the Chinese learned their unabashed Capitalist ways from in the first place? The adults in the room know all of this. Now you do too. You might as well learn and adapt, because the racist crooked Charlatan in Chief sure isn't going to. you need help, I won't waste my time disputing that nonsense you said, but I'll tell you this everything doesn't revolve around Trump, but yet you are incapable of making any point without trash talking him. Learn to make a point without mentioning Trump, because if your point against anyone involves nothing but personal insults then you're not making a point. I can make points against China, for example, without personally insulting Xi or any of their leaders, you should learn that skill to. Oh yeah, you also insulted me by saying I was whining, I merely stated an opinion contrary to yours, but as I said, learn to make your point without resulting to insults and name-calling, nobody hears whatever you may have said.1 point -

That's the problem right there. Brand loyalism is a useless construct that almost always ends up hurting the customer. You should buy based on the quality of the product itself and what it offers. I bought a PS4 two years ago, and the main reason wasn't sony but the fact that they released nice exclusives after their lackluster early titles. If I don't like PS5's exclusives, then no purchase from me. P.S. there are horror stories on the MS side too.1 point -

That fact leaves no room for Your way of replacing defective electronics but instead fixing them and in a process wasting less resources, materials and money. Ok. Like I said, it’s 2020 and the world works the way it works. It’s not 1980. You can’t repair stuff and it’s only going to get worse. The thing is that you can actually repair stuff, some manufacturers design their devices to be repairable, but people don't buy them. Because they are thick, heavy and usually more expensive.1 point -

As a software developer, let me tell you that it is a headache and costs a lot to support multiple versions of operating systems, not to mention being held back on using new features because of a few holdouts. It's always a tough decision to make, but it's usually not worth it to cater to a dwindling 5% of your customer base to increase your costs in terms of lines of code and test coverage. Windows 7 is obsolete and it's beyond time to move on.1 point -

Look nationwide, it's typically the left persecuting the right, not the other way around. also, the left turns to violence (or try to destroys them in some form or another) when people disagree with them where as the right does not. this says a lot. with that said, what you said I got no problem there as long as they ain't censoring people from speaking their minds. but the problem is, nowadays people disagree on the "facts" as the mainstream media lies so often, even if they tell the truth, no one believes them etc. so the facts can be a bit hard to tell at times since many in the media have no standards and will twist things etc. but with this said, I would be against anyone on the right banning left wing people who disagree with them as I think people should be able to speak their political views online without being censored (within reason of course as if someone is going to act like a kid telling people to go F themselves etc etc that just goes against basic decency. I understand things can get a bit heated when it comes to politics/religion and all, so I would give them some leeway, but people need to keep their behavior within reason online). but in general... since pretty much all of the major social media sites etc is controlled by the left, they have too much power and this is a problem as they can potentially alter elections etc. You use "left" way too... liberally. The media is not at all controlled by the left. In fact, there's little presence of leftism in American politics at all. It's instead liberals. Liberals who believe in capitalism alongside "socially woke politics" (so as not to alienate consumers) are what control media and social media. The right wing loves to write off anything they dislike as "left" but that doesn't make it true. Obama and Biden (for example) aren't communists or even communist sympathizers, no matter what the skewed post-Cold War, post-McCarthyism perspective dictates. They're plain old liberals and would be considered center to center-right in the rest of the world. Mainstream Democrats are not the left and they pander to various identity groups in an effort to calm them down, diminish any class consciousness, and protect the economic status quo as much as possible.1 point -
