  1. Apple announces new iPads bringing Pro features to lower-cost tablets

I mean, feel free to go spend $329 on any Android tablet of your choice and see how it compares to an iPad. Yes, because buying either of these two lousy worthless products proves...what exactly? Give it a rest... We get it; you don't like Apple products. The millions of people that buy them every year prove that they're useful and profitable products. Go find somebody else that cares about your mindless complaining...

  2. yields are probably due to the last minute changes to the PS5 target clocks. in all rumors, the PS5 was intended to be a 9 TFLOPs machine for consistent performance. but when it was found out the Xbox Series X would be a 12 TFLOPs machine, Sony had to depend on the AMD SmartShift technology where you can increase/decrease GPU/CPU clocks within a TDP threshold. Then Sony was able to convince Sony gamers that its advertised peaks were normal. But it's like a teeter totter. You can't have both peak GPU clocks at the same time as peak CPU clocks. It's one or the other in order to keep within threshold. So they're advertising 10 TFLOPs, 3.5 GHz CPU and 2.23 GHz GPU clocks even though you can't have those numbers at the same time. And yet gamers are comparing those numbers against the Xbox Series X numbers when the Series X numbers are constant. And the reason why they had to depend on advertising peak numbers is because the PS5 only has 36 compute units compared to the Series X which has 52 CUs. This is similar to what happened with the Xbox One and PS4. When it was revealed that the Xbox One had a CU deficit of 12 compute units versus the PS4 18 CUs, Microsoft had to boost the clocks as far as possible to narrow the gap but 18 CUs beats 12 CUs no matter how high you clock. And yet the gap between the Xbox One and PS4 was only 0.5 TFLOPs. but the realistic gap between the PS5 and the Xbox Series X is 3 TFLOPs.

  3. Origin client on PC is becoming the EA Desktop app

    > The EA Desktop app is being designed to deliver a frictionless and socially connected experience that is faster for players to get into their games I feel this same experience can be done by not requiring your game launcher be used for purchases made on Steam. When that's done and done then it will truly be a frictionless and will still be a socially connected experience.

  6. Yup! It's just an iPhone with a big screen. And with the "new" processor you can run no serious software and play whale mining phone games at the same speed as ever before! /s But they have increased their profit per unit so Wall Street will be pleased. And that's all that really matters to the post-Jobs Apple...

  17. Here's how you can watch today's Apple event

Since the iPad 2018 and 2019, I'm not sure they need the iPad Air line. The iPads are now very slim (the original reason for Air name). Adds confusion. Stick to: iPad, iPad Pro.

  18. AT&T is launching new hotspot with mmWave and sub-6 5G this Friday

lol 32 users and an "unlimited" data plan. It'll work for a full 5 minutes before ATT throttles it. I do however see this type of device as the future of home internet though. Cable modems will go the way of the Dino, especially when 5G starts outpacing 1 gig speeds on a widescale.

  19. Origin client on PC is becoming the EA Desktop app

"All of that is signaled by creating a common and consistent brand that is centered around EA and what EA stands for, and what signals it is this inflection about how EA stands for bringing your players together around the games they want to play on the platforms they want to play on. So yeah, it's not just a name change. It really signals an ethos that is critically important to us and that we know that's important to our players." Blah blah brand blah blah inflection blah blah together blah blah ethos. What a load of complete waffle. Make a lightweight launcher that LAUNCHES GAMES, and has simple access to the store. That's it. I can't believe I am actually saying it, but apart from GOG Galaxy (which is my go-to app for using my games library) Uplay is the least intrusive of all the big name launchers right now.

  21. Apple didn't invent Bluetooth, and if you're talking about the physical design, no, "same as Sony earbuds from the '90s but with the wires cut off" doesn't make it an "original design".

You could have picked a cooler place to live but no instead you pick a bit of land that's too hot for the entire year and waste a lot of energy on trying to cool it back down. Yeah air conditioning is pretty great.

#FAKENEWS. MacOS concept - Vista concept - Android concept - Back home to the Apple. What goes around... However, the stackable widgets look and work really nice. And I like how it moves to the Windows Phone, that was probably the best interface.

I still don't understand why they can legally call it "unlimited" considering once your run out of your FUP (and therefore it is not unlimited) they will throttle you below being usable.

  36. Sony reduces PS5 production by 4 million units due to yield issues

I'm not surprised, they've jacked up the clocks so high that this was bound to happen. Yields aside they also have costly cooling parts to deal with, sure demand is high, that's what they all say, but in their crazy push to try and get more performance out of their SoC I think they're going to have their own RRoD situation this gen. And just how much of a hit can Sony take when it's already in a weaker position as a whole compared to 10 years ago? They should've just went with the setup they had from the get go with their reported 9tflops dev kits and I bet they wouldn't have yield issues right now. And before anyone brings MS into this, I'm sure they also have a % of defective SoC that are meant for the series X, but by releasing the series S those SoC that can't make it into the X can be reused for the S. This probably helps with keeping the S' costs so low and why it can hit $299.

  37. Games with Gold: Book of Unwritten Tales 2 and Armed and Dangerous are now free

Beware of which license you claim! "Keep in mind that Xbox 360 games claimed via a Games with Gold promotion will continue being available even if the Gold subscription is discontinued. However, claimed Xbox One games are only playable while the account has an active subscription." It seems this is being changed... For the first time, if the Xbox Original game is claimed through its Xbox One Backcompat product page, it is a license limited to an active Gold subscription instead of redirecting you to the Xbox 360 Store: https://www.microsoft.com/p/armed-and-dangerous/bs7sqnnrb28w However, if it is claimed through its Xbox 360 product page, it is still a full license for free as before : https://marketplace.xbox.com/P...77fe-1000-9115-d8024256083d We'll have to see if they don't dicontinue the Xbox 360 Store and only give licenses limited to active Gold subscriptions even for Backcompat titles.

  46. Considering the big performance improvements of the RTX 3000 series, you shouldn't be that sad. Lower end RTX 2000 cards couldn't run games with RT effects anyway, and you can now get card with $1200 performance for $500 now 2060 shouldn't have been an RTX card
