Power over Ethernet question

Cable is always going to be better And allows for POE for sure. Be it you use injector, or get a poe switch. Unless you plan on doing more than a couple camera's the added cost of poe switch for 1 or 2 cameras is prob not cost effective. If you plan on setting up quite a few camera's or other poe devices then yeah a poe switch would help with less wiring. Can give you some control over removing power from specific camera's via just switch command to remove power from them - if you need to reboot them or something. Looking at that camera (whats in box section) doesn't seem to list that it comes with an injector? And I don't see one to purchase on the accessory list? They do seem to sell power adapters for them.. It lists in specs that it uses 802.3af for POE, so make sure if you get a switch or injector to use that is what is puts out or supports. There are currently 3 main specs for poe 802.3af, at and the newer bt standard.2 points -

Version 20H2 will be an enablement package to Version 2004... similar to how Version 1909 was an enablement package over Version 1903. The user will be given the option of installing it, separate from the regular "Patch Tuesday" patches. Installation will be very quick, since it's an enablement package, and not a "H1" full build install.1 point -
Microsoft Edge's upcoming feature will suspend inactive tabs to save resources
MS Bob 11 reacted to George P for a topic
Are you talking about when you reopen the browser and it restores your last session? If so, Edge does that to, the tabs load once you kick on them, but that's not the same feature they're talking about above. Yep I was talking about that. So this feature is about unloading tabs in the current session if they're unused? Yeah, the default is after 2hrs of not being used. You can change it or have it do it right away even from what I've seen.1 point -
Microsoft rolls out the Windows 10 October 2020 Update to the Release Preview channel
alex_d2w reacted to derpityderp for a topic
Is there even a feedback post about that online? Right now it doesn't seem like any of the "UWP" apps will run multiple instances which covers settings. Maybe adding tabs in Settings would work as well, dunno. This isn't true - UWP apps are able to have multiple instances and have been for a while now. Calc.exe (UWP) has had it the longest. It was added to 3rd party apps a while back too. But windowing is being reworked fully with Project Reunion and they'll likely rely on the new solution.1 point -

Crysis Remastered suffers from massive performance and visual issues on Xbox One X
hellowalkman reacted to Xerxes for a topic
Actually, it is! Digital Foundry got their hands on an early build a while ago and they were really impressed with it. It wasn't perfect but it certainly was more than playable. Wonder what went wrong? Linus Tech Tips just reviewed it and it brought the new Nvidia 3090 to its knees. That is the PC build though. I'm talking about the X1X build. Digital Foundry had access to an early build of it and it was impressive. It cannot hold a candle to the PC version of course but considering the hardware and what it was able to do it was genuinely impressive. Shame it went downhill from there1 point -

i5-3570K minimum but I am willing to bet my i5-3550 will be okay (it's 3.3Ghz but actually runs at 3.5Ghz on my motherboard by default) and even decent i5-2xxx range stuff to. hell, even the minimum and recommended CPU ain't much of a gap. so it pretty much boils down to GPU it seems. I should be okay enough with my 1050 Ti 4GB. but I may or may not get around to giving this game a shot as I don't play too much games anymore as not many are worth playing. but one I am definitely looking forward to is Mafia Definitive Edition (2020) which is coming later this month and is a remake of my #1 video game experience to date which is Mafia (2002) (on PC).1 point -

Why's that? Depends on what your stance on social networks is overall, on one hand it helps you stay connected with family and friends, which is why I even bothered with a FB account. On the other hand they run rampant with crazy posts, disinformation, and overall silliness, it does more harm then good. I mean, for example, the whole tide pod eating challenge crap from a few years ago, that only got to be such a issue because of how it spread via social media. I think we can all agree that we can do with less of that, can't we? Before social media it was silly chain letters, urban myths, and notes passed around school. The only thing that's changed is the medium. People will do stupid things with or without social media. Tide pods or not. And lets not all pretend that fake news didn't exist prior to Facebook. Fringe areas of the internet, and prior to that, publications and various radio broadcasts mind warped plenty of people. Plenty of examples of that in the late 80s, early 90s. Yeah, I don't quite think you're taking the sheer scale difference into account here. I'm not saying crazy wasn't around, it's always been, but the crazy was never able to spread as fast or as wide as it does today via any of the big social networks out there, take your pick. Or the things you're mentioning are grossly overstated now. I don't know any of my friends kids who've had a tide pod for a snack. A single twitter user reports a defect with their phone and within hours, a news article is created citing it's the next x-gate, all while 99.9% of people never have an issue. Social media is a megaphone, sure, but no, stupidity hasn't suddenly ran rampant. Ok, so your clearly all for them, that's fine, we can agree to disagree. I don't care much for them, I've said why I think so. I'd rather not take this into a never ending circular argument that leads no where with you. Sorry? I thought we were having a conversation. Sure then. There's not much more to say, I think they gather and spread crazy more than anything, your stance is that they're amplifying limited crazy. Don't know what more to say? I've just noticed way more going on in the past 10-15 years as these networks have exploded all over the internet, than the previous 20 or so years I've been online. Of course the internet helps the minority out there be way more vocal, it just never reached the levels it does now via FB, twitter, and so on. In the past we'd have little pockets of silliness here and there, now it's reached massive scale spearheaded by groups on these networks that often do no good. Take your pick, left, right, w/e. You're noticing it more because the idiots doing them also have social media accounts now. It's that simple. And it sounds like your news feed is stuck in a pocket of silliness. I haven't seen anything outrageous, outside of the peanut gallery comments on news articles from brainwashed idiots, that have been brainwashed long before social media. I guess we will indeed to disagree. Social media only offers more visibility into the stupidity that has existed, well, longer than any social media has existed.1 point -
Microsoft rolls out the Windows 10 October 2020 Update to the Release Preview channel

The one feature they SHOULD have added in the all the way back in the release 1607 or whatever the first update was, which allows you to have more than one windows 10 settings box open at a time. It's the one single thing that pisses me off about Windows 10. I'm in the Windows update window and want to go to all apps, and it uses the same window. GAH! It's just as dumb as the 7th version of Watch OS STILL not being able to sync to messages on the iPhone so when you delete an SMS message on the iPhone it deletes from the watch.1 point -

IOS Updates
spacelordmaster reacted to shockz for a topic
Probably not, unless you've done numerous major upgrades on the same device... i.e iOS 11, iOS 12, iOS 13. I do DFU restore my phones after being enrolled into a beta program, just to clear out any nonsense left behind/overlooked through the 8-10 betas, but outside of that, if I don't participate in a beta, I just do a straight upgrade, and have no issues. I'm also one who doesn't restore from backups after a reset/restore/new device. Clean slate every time, and that seems to work best. I never have to reset my phone outside of a beta for issues.1 point -
