  1. Top 5 reasons you should buy a PlayStation 5

Why is everyone in such a rush to preorder and buy both the ps5 and xbox series x? Just wait a few months to a year, and see how each console does, in terms of games, support and customer satisfaction, before deciding.

  2. Top 5 reasons you should buy an Xbox Series X, S console

While I get your reasons about 4K60 and ray-tracing, reduced load times etc., they're not going to make it easier for you to purchase Xbox over the competition (the PS5 offers these too), hence the lack of their mention. Disagree with you about All Access not being a reason enough to upgrade. Definitely is if you're tight financially but still want to enter next-gen. And how exactly does Game Pass + Microsoft acquisition not benefit the next-gen? Do you honestly expect Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI to launch on Game Pass day one on current-gen (or even current-gen at all)? :-s

you must of missed the whole 5the reason "it's almost a given that these offerings will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms on consoles, which means that fans of these franchises need to consider Xbox Series X and S if they want to play these titles on consoles."

no offence but those seem like some pretty ###### poor reasons you've come up with. Gamepass + microsofts acquisition benefit the current gen, don't need to worry about backwards compatibility if you have a current gen and leasing is a payment option not a reason to upgrade. Off top of my head unique reasons to buy/upgrade, 4K 60fps, ray tracing, no loading screens (thereabouts) and if you're coming to consoles new (gamepass + backwards compatibility for cheap library titles).

  6. Top 5 reasons you should buy a PlayStation 5

I'm buying it as I am invested in their ecosystem and it has a lot of first party games that I really enjoy but although I don't wish to own 2 consoles I would have to consider an Xbox 2-3 years down the line if their games improve after snapping up other publishers. I'm also looking forward to a new kind of controller assuming developers make use of its features and near instant loading.

  8. Forum upgrade to version 4.5

At 12PM CET the forum will go offline for an upgrade to 4.5 which is a major version update from our 4.4.x version. It brings with it may new features and improvements (including better moderation tools, such as banning people from a topic) you can read about some of the changes here https://invisioncommunity.com/news/company/welcome-to-invision-community-45-r1206/ (note that Matt links to individual topics about features, because there are many changes). Hopefully our upgrade will go smoothly, but if it doesn't we can always roll back. In any case please be patient while we figure out problems should they arise.

you must of missed the whole 5the reason "it's almost a given that these offerings will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms on consoles, which means that fans of these franchises need to consider Xbox Series X and S if they want to play these titles on consoles." For the first few releases that already have PS4/5 code in they're likely to release on Sony as well (just like The Outer Worlds) and make money. For future titles, who knows? It's not like releasing on other platforms doesn't make you money. I imagine they'll watch how actual sales go before making a decision. Can you imagine ES VI fans who have been waiting for about 9000 years for the title see it finally coming out - as an XBX exclusive. Those who don't have one will be outraged! I'd say it might even be reason enough to get an XBX (for hardcore fans).

What do you have to do to access this? Is it just open wifi, do you have to auth to it - if so how.. Do you have to use an app on your phone or something? Does it use some sort of captive portal to gain access... Some details of how you access said connection, will give us options to make said connection better for your location.

  13. Top 5 reasons you should buy a PlayStation 5

I'm tired of cinematic hack and slashes and shooters after owning a PS4/PS4 Pro this generation. I feel like Sony's just making the same type of cinematic interactive movies over and over again with different stories and characters, and that's it. So I'm going to get a Xbox Series X: Forza, Forza Horizon, Sea of Thieves, Flight Simulator 2020, etc. has far greater replay and long-term value for me than any of Sony's 8-15 hour cinematic adventure games with either zero replay-value or crappy/worthless multiplayer modes. The cross-platform games will exist on both platforms anyway, and the Series X will be the most capable multiplatform machine. Also, the PS5 is huge and ugly. I much prefer the aesthetics of the Xbox Series X considering my TV is black and square, my set-top boxes are black and square, my router is black and square, my speakers are black and square... The PS5 is just a eye-sore and is so frigging tall and huge, and won't fit in anywhere. Also, GamePass is too good to be true.

My main reason for starting with a Xbox SX is that a friend of mine I wanna play with is a Xbox fanboy, and with the game pass ultimate, it becomes much easier to justify getting an Xbox. I do plan on getting a PS5 later too though. No games are coming out right out of the gate that I care about on PS5.

Interesting that at the launch of the One people were upset with having to be connected to play games, and now they are selling people the idea with Game Pass. At least they found a more realistic way to make it work. It's too bad that the backwards compatible games need patches for things like frame rate enhancements, I wonder if developers will end up selling these updates or do a remaster instead so they can sell you the whole game again.

There's discounts on digital codes but you have to look at other places besides amazon and gamestop. CDKeys for example has Cyberpunk for the Xbox at €49.59, so yeah. *edit* Well, changing to currency to USD it does go up to $59, lol they're going with the exchange rate, or something else funky is going on.

  30. Which Next Gen Console do you plan on buying?

PC games on Steam get crazy discounts more often so that's understandable. Console games digital codes on amazon/gamestop very rarely get discounts, even have different pricing release time. Cyberpunk for Xbox is $49 physical disc, and $59 digital code. When the PS store or Xbox store starts a sale, usually the discounted games are more than a year old so I end up having already finished them.

Look at ReactOS and/or WINE for something you can wrap your head around more easily and legally. Learning to contribute to these projects will teach you a lot about Windows and is experience you can actually add to your resume. While WINE is legal but it uses it's not. Microsoft is specific about what files (such as libraries) could be distributed and what not. For example, WINE could run .net applications but for that, the user needs the net framework and it is illegal to install it in Linux. It happens the same with VC++ applications. I feel like you have no idea how WINE handles this. They aren't redistributing any MS files. WINE does not includes those libraries, but it allows us to install them from the Internet, so WINE is not legal but it is allowing others to install it illegally. Show me in the terms and conditions of the VC++ redistribuable installer the exact clause that wine is breaking and explain how: Did you read the EULA? You can google it. But lets me explain how it works. * First, you can't distribute it separately, and sometimes you can't even allow sharing the download from other sources. Does it sound fine? Well. If you want to share a single library of the package, then you must agree with all, and download from the original source (Microsoft). * Then, the whole EULA is mostly "you can use for free", however with several catches, one of them is that you can accept all or nothing but also that the EULA is over top each different license, so some of those files included in the distribution could have a different license. Just because something has not been adjudicated, does not mean it is legal. WINE crosses a lot of boundaries and use of WINE also adds additional layers of legal questionability. This is one of those examples, if Microsoft was sue happy, it would probably not exist or be allowed to exist. (Hint, try a WINE type project for iOS and OS X binaries, and see how long it lasts.)

  49. I don't think Microsoft are going to go the exclusive route. Microsoft is pretty keen to exploit cross play options, smart delivery etc, they're looking to the future a head rather than restricting what they have now. I expect them to continue to provide games across all the platforms, Sony's Playstation included, but make the statement that it's Xbox that is providing the cross play, cross platform multiplayer services. Sony can opt out again if they want, but like the backlash they gained against them for the Minecraft multiplayer issue, gamers just want to be able to play with their friends. It'll be putting pressure on Sony via their own fans. Also, Microsoft own all that IP now. It'll be a nice income across as many platforms they can get it from. Still, surprised that they managed to grab it for $7.5 billion, and kept it quiet. I guess big pockets really do help.
