  4. China: U.S. ban on TikTok, WeChat is in violation of WTO rules

I worked at the WTO, that's not accurate. But I'm impressed that in today's climate there are Americans out there who still think, "WE'RE #1! WE'RE #1!"

  8. China, the same country that banned Winnie the Pooh. 😒 Anyways, India is not the answer but apparently, it's better than China: cheaper and willing to accept bribes.

  9. China: U.S. ban on TikTok, WeChat is in violation of WTO rules

This. The conversation about China should've began and ended when they started openly detaining people of the wrong color and belief system into labor/detention camps. I don't believe the World Trade Organization should consist of slave labor, which is why all these big name companies should be using their weight to at least make a statement about what they will or will not support. Apple has begun moving manufacturing to China, albeit through the Chinese conduit of Foxconn, but it will take more companies to say enough is enough to make this apparent. Trump's ban on these apps is miniscule to what the real power of these corporations could be doing. Appeasing the red giant by censorship and all the other ways they continue to support them is NOT a good look.

youve just done every phone ever released and will be released to, and graphics cards, consoles, smart watches, pc's, processors, RAM, SSD's Apple and iPhone have spoiled people for years. They expect brand new design every year or every other year but now that they don't change the design its underwhelming of course

The live events have really lost their luster.... after the iPhone 4S, they just started calling it in. Wish we'd just go back to posting product pages.

  12. I just had to decide between O365 and GSuite myself for my personal use, and went O365 (got tired of being a privacy night and all of the compromises with Protonmail and stuff). I went O365 cause of the Desktop Apps/Web Apps being top notch for office tools and email. Enjoy Microsoft's mobile apps a lot more also. MS is also *less* evil.

  13. SK hynix introduces DDR5 DRAM, the first in the world

I would pretty much say , NO, because in the past other first products were always targeting servers initially and as ECC as been pretty much a standard for this kind of machines it's normal that firsts products will come better equipped for that job. Normally for general consumer availability and in order to reduce costs this solution tend to disappear so I imagine the same will happen in this case . And sincerely ECC checking is only for real crucial work , if are browsing the net or playing games and your game has a memory error it can also be treated in software and the worst case scenario what ? You have to interrupt your browsing and stop playing to restart? I don't see this as a needed trend.

  20. Complaining about banning nå app is a bit rich coming from the home of the great firewall where pretty every Western service or website is banned... Dear China, fair trade is both ways. Also, all those rules you have about foreign companies having to "partner' with a local company and surrender their IP, that ain't exactly fair trade either.

  21. As if anyone takes China seriously these days. China seems to have got the rude shock when India and US banned TikTok and they can see businesses collapse if similar bans continue. We seriously need to move out all manufacturing from China to other countries.

  23. They used to only properly support (i.e. provide OS security updates - iTunes application support lasted longer) the current and previous version back when there was a release every 2 years - since moving to annual releases they've supported the previous two releases. Still not really good enough given that Apple cut off support for hardware after only a few years, so upgrading the OS means buying a brand new computer or using hacks to work around their efforts to stop you installing it on older ones - most third-party Mac developers (not just MS) seem to just expect everyone to follow and do whatever it takes to upgrade the OS version though, perhaps they don't realise it's not like Windows where you can just update to the very latest Windows 10 release on a 15 year old Pentium 4 PC. Indeed the original 2006 Intel-based Macs can run Office 2019 with updates for years to come if you put Windows 10 on them, yet macOS 10.14 is only supported on systems from 2012 at the earliest...

It's the Samsung flagship from 1-2 years ago! Now, I've just given everyone the feature list. With all due respect I may be apple critic in some way, because I they are not innovating at the pace that they used to when Steve Jobs running the apple but Samsung is way worse in my honest opinion. They are riding over the success of android operating system but in a way because they are not as hands on designing operating system as apple is and they don't have Software-Hardware integration that apple has, they flagship phone no matter how cool they look are and how advanced their camera is for example are in fact inferior to iPhone flagship in Performance and Battery Life and reliability which is arguably the thing that is most important to most people and are not cheaper than apple iPhone either.

  26. No, it is not. China is infamous changing the rules at whim, including its Constitution. You can ask to Microsoft, Apple, Google, IBM, and many other companies.

  27. China: U.S. ban on TikTok, WeChat is in violation of WTO rules

"The main difference here is China makes it very clear what the rules are if you want to do business in the country." Stopped reading there. There are many laws that are precisely worded in a way that you would think you wouldn't have to worry about corruption. However, the reality is quite different. There's a good reason for instance that Hong Kong doesn't want extradition to mainland China simply because they know they won't play or operate within the rules they put forth. Regarding your argument of costs going up, yes, that is bound to happen when you don't use SLAVE labor. This is a really bad point to make. That being said, there's a reason people cannot compete with China when they cannot afford to pay people slave wages. I believe it was reported a couple years ago that Foxconn employees averaged less than $400/mo for example... And that's to people who aren't working in detention camps.

I worked at the WTO, that's not accurate. But I'm impressed that in today's climate there are Americans out there who still think, "WE'RE #1! WE'RE #1!" Doesn't surprise me at all but big powers tend to lash their tails when in decline going on history and it does seem like the US has a few challenges ahead with the EU and US, hence why they are the prime targets for the US, it's out of fear of losing it's position in the world. In the case of the WTO and what China is saying, that's rich coming from them that ban a lot of other countries techs, services and so on, they can't complain when other countries do to them what they've been doing to others for quite some time now.

The Circle design with the Apple Logo looks like one of the tracking Tags that have leaked. If the Tags do what I think they will then I think they are very exciting. I'm looking forward to the Tags.

  31. Hurricane Delta

In the NOAA graphics, the M pinpoint for future locations indicates a "Major Hurricane", which is classed as a CAT 3 or higher. So it'll be closer to a CAT 3, if not more...these graphs tend to start off low and then go pedal to the metal as the models are fine tuned, they usually won't want to panic and cause mass evacs/preps until they're closer to being sure of impact. Just the issuance of a watch (and not even a warning) costs millions of dollars after people/businesses start going out and buying supplies to start prepping.

  34. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered announced, landing November 6

I completely agree as Most Wanted was clearly the all around peak of that series. for a non-sim racing game, that was pretty much the peak of racing games for me, especially over the last 10-20 years or or so. +1 the franchise absolutely peaked in 2005 with Most Wanted, I did quite enjoy Undercover in 2008, however Most Wanted (2005) is still by far my favourite in the series. I've long since got bored of EA milking the franchise year after year, I think the 5 games I truly enjoyed and put a lot of time in to are: Hot Pursuit 2 Underground Most Wanted Carbon Undercover I did play some of the earlier games on the PC, however I was more as fan of Screamer for an arcade racer at the time.

  41. Bing really is unimpressive, and at many times extremely poor at search, compared to Google. They really need to add some differentiating features to sell it(like Duckduckgo markets its privacy focus).

  43. Microsoft to invest in Greek cloud services infrastructure

I don't see how Huawei has jack to do with the above. If Huawei wants to build some factory in the EU they'd be more than happy to let them do so. MS looking to build one or two datacenters in Greece, for Azure, has nothing to do with the government other than signing the paperwork and giving a big thanks.

This is good to see, big companies should be investing instead of sitting on massive piles of cash for long periods of time.

  50. And let’s fight Amazon, while we’re at it, to be able to sell on their store without Amazon taking a fee or getting in the way Amazon sells goods which can be acquired any other store you like. Hence, you can get said goods with any payment processor you like, or subscriptions from anywhere the developer likes with no restrictions. So, we've got that already.
