When (at the time) General Eisenhower toured some of the concentration camps, he brought reporters, and, made the local citizens clean it up. When asked why, Eisenhower said (paraphrasing), Because, at some point in the future, there will be those that will not believe this happened.10 points -

It is weird that they bundled all these options together, I would have liked to know who falls in the first two groups and who just isn't sure. How can you not be sure the events happened when you have actual evidence of them happening though? Do you have to actually live through something personally to be "sure" it happened? What does that even mean? Who are we trying to kid here?4 points -

While I see your point, and it's odd that they bunched those together, I don't see why you would think it's in some way a myth or exaggerated? Or how you could "think it's not true"? You can argue the numbers given out, so maybe there's a case for exaggeration at work, but the other 2? I wasn't alive when WW2 was going on but I don't think it's a myth and I don't have a reason to think the events aren't true, whatever the hell that means in this case. How can someone "not be sure it's true" when of all things we have actual archived video out there?4 points -

As a private company they can enforce whatever they want. It's interesting that it is such a major problem amongst its users that they have decided to develop a means to educate for it. Maybe we will start to see the same such efforts for "flat earth" groups and other "serious but ignorant" types too It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if I see education handed to the private sector at some point too, then they can have board and shareholder meetings on what is acceptable to learn.1 point -

Fairphone 3+ unboxing and first impressions
matthiew reacted to Tuskd for a topic
It is sustainable because if you have a Fairphone 3, you can upgrade to the 3+ just by swapping the camera module. So you won't feel buyer's remorse spend on a non-recyclable phone every two years. It is sustainable because 5 years down the line when the charging port fails, you don't end up with a bricked phone without official service support. You order the bottom module for a few bucks and keep going. It is sustainable because all its raw materials come from conflict free sources. So it is both politically and environmentally guilt-free. It is sustainable because it comes with an unlocked bootloader out of the box.1 point -

There is always a security risk when decrypting passwords and a bigger one when showing it in plain text. They are removing the second concern. It’s not convenient but security rarely is. The only concern in showing a password in plain text would be if the box is compromised. Well, yeah. Read any of my previous posts? 😉1 point -

Poll: What is your favorite gaming console of all time?
astropheed reacted to Geezy for a topic
Wow a favorite console poll with no NES, SNES, SMS, Genesis/Mega Drive, N64, GameCube, Saturn, Dreamcast, Wii, Wii U, Switch, what is this? It seems very focused around Sony vs MS (and a couple of handhelds to throw off the scent?)... I would have to pick the Genesis/Mega Drive, or the Wii if Virtual Console is included and then I can enjoy all the classics! The original PlayStation was special as well, there was so many wild ideas for games and it seemed like the hits kept coming. FF7 and Symphony of the Night were huge, Megaman 8, X3 & X4, Mega Man Legends, Xenogears, Dragon Quest 7, Bushido Blade, Soul Edge, Tekken, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Dead or Alive, R-Type Delta, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Wipeout, Ridge Racer, Test Drive, Driver, Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, Resident Evil... It was insane that all these were on one console!1 point -

Consoles are much like anything that catches our attention for the first time, under 30. The first one we encounter or invest time in, we will always love more. If you know anybody that likes Star Trek, there is a good chance their favorite series will be the one they started paying attention and got them interested in Star Trek. Personal Reference: I worked so much in the 90s that I never took time to watch Star Trek, but finally set down to binge Voyager in the early 00s. It is my favorite Trek, even knowing its flaws, and that DS9 or TNG are much stronger shows.1 point -

Poll: What is your favorite gaming console of all time?
+InsaneNutter reacted to ThaCrip for a topic
Of those in the poll... XBox/XBox360 hands down especially due to their moding capability etc (Wii has nice moding capability but I never got into those until fairly recently (in the last year or two) as back-in-the-day when they where new I just never cared about it). but in terms of moding capability, original XBox takes the title due to XBMC etc. in fact, after the XBox360 generation I pretty much dumped console gaming as I simply don't play enough games there to justify the cost as very few games are worth playing and even a smaller amount have any real staying power to where I want to replay here and there as the years pass. but looking at stuff not listed in the poll, so more of the earlier days... Nintendo 64 would probably be my choice as back in those 1995-1996 times, N64 was definitely my console over the Playstation 1 (I did have some Playstation consoles a little (I think I had PS2 etc semi-briefly) but the Playstation stuff I never really got into much as other brands). I think when it comes to Nintendo consoles... N64 was the all around peak for me (but prior to N64, while I am sure I liked SNES(and even Genesis) at one point more than NES, to this day I am sure I like original NES more since games like Mike Tyson's Punch-Out just have more staying power for me and the games I used to like a lot on SNES/Gensis like MK3/UMK3 etc just ain't cutting it today when we got access to proper arcade quality versions). which was pretty much the last console I used back around when it was new that was prior to modern gaming consoles which I think modern gaming consoles pretty much started with PS2/XBox in the 2000-2001 time frame as that was pretty much when consoles are more like today overall. I think the general Nintendo stuff peaked with me on N64 in the late 1990's as after that Nintendo went downhill and I shifted to XBox basically in terms of consoles (even though at that time I started to get a lot more into PC's especially because once you get used to shooters on a PC you can't go back to a console). I originally got a Gamecube just for the Wave Race sequel (i.e. Wave Race: Blue Storm) which was not nearly as good as the original Wave Race game on N64 as Wave Race on N64 is still one of my top racing games to this very day as when I think of racing games, especially prior to modern standards(so say prior to 2000-2001), that's the clear stand out for me. even counting ALL time frames it would be one of my very top choices along with maybe a handful of others (say Forza series/NFS: Most Wanted and maybe a little beyond that). NOTE: I am old enough to remember the transition from 2D to 3D in the 1995-1996 time frame (mainly PS1/N64 and a little Sega Saturn to even though PS1/N64 was the clear major players of that generation) as at that time I would have been 15-17 years old. hell, I still got my first GPU I ever bought which is a Diamond Monster 3D (3DFX Voodoo 4MB) which made Quake look top notch at the time as it was clearly ahead of consoles at that time frame which the leaders there were PS1/N64. but basically to quickly list all of the console stuff I had at some point or another(it's possible I might be forgetting a bit)... Atari 2600 Jr/NES/Gameboy(original)/Gameboy Advance SP(this was not in the old days though)/Sega Nomad/Sega Gamegear/Sega Saturn/N64/Sega Dreamcast/XBox/XBox360 and I want to say PS1/PS2 fairly briefly (maybe a little beyond these). but as far as NES I think we had one of those fairly briefly around 1990-1991 or so as I remember my mom ended up selling it on me as I clearly did not want to get rid of it. but in general back around that time frame, original Gameboy was what I was primarily using. but about the only Gameboy game I still like to this day is original Tetris which I am playing through Gameboy Advance SP. but it would have been nice if there was two polls... one pre-modern era (i.e. pre-2000) and modern-era(i.e. 2000-2001 to date). or something like that. because I think from 2000 to date I would probably go with original XBox due to it having the best moding capability as I probably got the most all around use on that one. but for consoles prior to the 2000's... I would likely back N64, maybe original NES (especially if we are looking at my opinion to this day because I am sure at one point 'newer is better' sort of thing but after time passed you can really see how things stack up more long term). p.s. for the record... PC is definitely my all around favorite especially because shooter games are what I typically play and a mouse is flat out superior to a analog stick to track stuff on screen quickly as a console handicaps me to where I am playing lower than my potential where as with a mouse I am as good as I can be.1 point -

How to control Google Assistant in Windows 10 using Snap Core First
sini reacted to indospot for a topic
Read headline, this is great I must read. Your comment echoes my thoughts shortly after. Hey guys, this is the author. Like I said at the end, I know the process to get started is a bit convoluted, but there's a few things I want to note: I made the guide to try to take into account people who might not have any idea of what to do and I tried to go through steps that are really easy to click through. I think if you know how to use a computer, most things here will be done much faster than it takes to read them. This is a guide written by someone who learned how to do things in about two days. I had never even heard of Snap Core First before Google's announcement on Tuesday, and I wrote the guide on Thursday night, so I learned things relatively quickly. Finally, while the setup process is a bit complicated, things work really great once you've set it up. I wrote the guide exactly because I found the capability super useful to me personally, and my feelings haven't changed. I control my lights all the time with this. If you're unsure if it's worth it, I think you should really give it a shot.1 point -
