I'm just waiting for a day they enforce their rules evenly Gonna comment on this nonsense before anyone reads it and thinks this is true. Their rules are being enforced against right wingers more because right wingers are the ones that spread violents/nonsense alot more. That's just fact. The left does not contain a significant anti vax, gun nut, racism, homophobia, bigotry, pro russia election interfering, anti masker, and white supremacist movements. You're just going to have to face the fact that the worst people on earth is drawn to the right for a reason. Social media platforms have rules to try and keep things civilized which will naturally clash with the right.5 points -

Which is why we've learned to test these things over years, through all sorts of stages and trials. When we have tried to rush things, as President Ford did in the 1970s, we end up with unintended side effects, like Guillain-Barre syndrome. https://www.history.com/news/s...ne-election-year-1976" rel="external nofollow">https://www.history.com/news/s...vaccine-election-year-1976" rel="external nofollow">https://www.history.com/news/s...-vaccine-election-year-1976 If we try to do the same thing with a Covid vaccine for purely cynical and selfish political purposes, bad things are much more likely to happen. Trust the science. Trust the scientists. Don't trust a pathological liar... What about when the scientists are on the payroll of a pathological liar? What happens if a vaccine comes out that has scientifically proven positive effects, and also scientifically proven negative effects? No one is allowed to make an ad stating the negative effects? You must by law list the negative effects of all medicine. I mean you're living in la la land man nobody ever said there's no negative effects for vaccine and there's absolutely no problem whatsoever and has never been any to talk or discuss the proven negative effects of vaccine or any other medicine. There's a big difference between talking about real negative effects and QAnon ridiculous conspiracies like vaccine cause autism which has never been proven scientifically and doesn't make any sense anyway.4 points -

In this case, they are allowed to remove something that promotes the spread of misinformation if they want to. Then they should not be protected under Section 230. What you described here is a publisher, not a platform Wrong. Again. No. Facebook is not a publisher. Simple as that. Get back to me when Facebook itself writes original content and publishes it as such. Until then, it's a glorified RSS reader, at best a blogger service that it's members use to share content. Still not a publisher.3 points -

Netflix drops free trials in the U.S. for new subscribers
wrack and 2 others reacted to Setnom for a topic
Sorry out of news loop lately. What is this about? Never seen it, but I think the gist is that a film was made about a cursed topic that is simultaneously immoral to ignore and immoral to portray. The mistake was probably making it a film instead of a book or something about the issues the writer is constantly pointing to when defending it. Something something art. Netflix is distributing a movie which sexualizes, FOR REAL, 11-year old girls. The film didn't use "movie magic" to pretend that (like using fake blood, fake body parts, stunts, in violent movies, etc.), it filmed, and zoomed for a long time, on the girls most intimate body parts while they were "dancing". The director says the movie criticizes children hypersexualization, but it doesn't. It just adds to this problem. It's analogous to filming a person doing drugs (let's go with cocaine), drugs for real, to criticize that doing cocaine is bad. And failing to criticize that doing drugs is bad. The solution would be to film that person snorting cornstarch with a bit of baby powder, for instance. And actually criticizing it. In "Cuties", the solution would be to zoom in on other parts of the girls bodies (faces, hands, feet), or just show the public's reaction to the choreography, or hire older actresses to play younger characters.3 points -

The trick is to only have one service at a time. Once you get bored one one, just rotate to another. This keeps your bill down. Don't fall into the trap of paying for multiple services at once. The actual trick is to have friends and family. LOL I have Apple TV, Disney+, ESPN+, HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix (Premium), Prime Video, Spotify (Family Premium), and YouTube TV all full time for $60 a month.3 points -

This can be genuinely useful even if it looks weird. A landscape fullscreen and 1 half screen which apps can utilize without ruining the fullscreen immersive experience. Since LaP answered the rest of your question, I'll deal with this part. Because of what Trump has now done to corrupt and muzzle the HHS and CDC, we have to parse/distrust what comes out of them. Fortunately, the rest of the scientific and medical communities are not so muzzled and you can see them reporting the actual findings every day...on networks that aren't Fox News or OANN in the USA, of course.2 points -

Not being sketchy at all. I have to email sensitive stuff from time to time back and forth from work plus when I go out and stay somewhere, I use the public WIFI wherever I am at so a VPN is necessary. Not everyone that has a VPN is sketchy you know. I also like the fact that I can install this service on my iPad and iPhone. It’s more about convenience than anything. The service is super fast. I have no idea how to configure my own VPN and honestly don’t have time to sit down and figure it out so ExpressVPN works for me.2 points -

Apple showed that was not the case yesterday. The magnetic wallet pouch was pretty cool. Wow, a magnetic CC holder. So much innovation. Incredible! A magnetically aligning charging solution that resolves a known issue with the overall technology, but can also be repurposed to accomplish other usability and connectivity tasks when not fulfilling it's primary purpose. It's easy to be facetious but you've made a bit of a fool of yourself there...2 points -

Wireless charger. Problem solved. Is Apple sending those out to customers for free? When you buy an electric oven do you get the power cable for free? How about a washer and dryer? Or do you just use the same cable as your old appliance? I don't change my oven or the washer/dryer every 1.5 years. I have like 4 iphone chargers at home. Sigh. Same principal applies to basically most electronics. When I build a new rig, I'll probably use the same power supply and cord from the one I'm retiring, unless the video card I'm using is off the charts on power use, and if it is, I'll probably skip that card for something more efficient. There's been more than one power supply I've purchased that also didn't come with a power cord.1 point
