  1. I'm loving how all these companies are starting to grow a pair. Get rid of the mentally unstable people who think things like microchips are in vaccines. Well done Google and Facebook for the last couple of days.

  2. Yeah, let's make the World Health Organization be the arbiter of truth. Oh wait, weren't they the ones that were outright lying to the public when the pandemic was first starting, saying that face masks were not effective? And that interview where the WHO official was afraid to utter the word "Tiawan" was a complete disgrace. The problem is, there is no person or organization that can be trusted to be the arbiter of truth. Scientists are not infallible. Like any person they are influenced by money and the need to make a living. Organizations will fund research that aligns with their views and deny funding to research that challenges their views. As for YouTube, the way that it runs these days is just sad. I don't know how many times I have seen videos where the creator is afraid to say "coronavirus" or "covid". Voice recognition has been a major curse for creators on the site. It's not just covid-related things that creators are afraid to say.

  8. This wont help to stop spread any information. It is censorship, same as in China. It fits to help sell product - vaccine. Simple marketing of fear. And slow destruction of democracy. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about as a citizen of post-communist country. Censorship is not above freedom of speech in democracy.

  9. who cares. anyone that takes it is stupid in my opinion. Those people need to start thinking about all the people they've killed by not wearing a mask when they had the flu. Pure evil!

  10. "Pretty damn low straight up"?? The death rate of Covid is ridiculously high. It's almost stupid high. And you say BS like that? Then, of course, you go political and even call out "the left". I'd like to call out "The right" then (whatever that means) for downplaying it. One causes death, the other is "fearmongering". HMMMMMMM!!!! If you're a healthy young person than your chance of dying from Covid (assuming post complications are attributed correctly) are pretty low, but it's not about you is it? It's about playing Russian roulette with your grandma and not being a selfish piece of ######.

  11. Microsoft is improving the favorites menu in Edge

Sure, and then let's lobby to change 'favicon' used by other browsers, as 'bookmark' is the proper term. /s Favorites are consistent with Windows and the concept, bookmark is not accurate in the original or literal meaning. Chrome specifically uses 'bookmarks' to not use the Windows terminology. Maybe we should ask Google to conform, instead of creating a difference on purpose. Especially considering almost all users have used IE or Edge or Windows at some point. To be a bit more serious, is it really that confusing to use the original terminology going back 25 years? Bookmarks as a term predates Google in its entirety. In fact, Bookmarks as a term predates INTERNET EXPLORER. Nice try though. https://adrianroselli.com/2014...-netscape-navigator-10.html See the bookmarks menu? Netscape Navigator 1.0 released in December, 1994. Internet Explorer 1.0 released in August, 1995, which for the sake of being different, renamed Bookmarks to Favorites. You uh, you got a little bit of revisionist history going on there. Bookmarks has been a term for at least 26 years.

  12. I am, of course, very happy about this. But we should all realize that they are doing this in order to pre-empt congress from passing new regulations next year to do it for them. And, of course, the only reason they never did this kind of moderation in the past was because it would have...GASP!!!..affected their quarterly profits. But, any forward progress on stemming the seemingly never-ending steams of this ignorant fearmongering brain diarrhea is a good thing.

  19. There is a fundamental difference between what is known to be false and what is the unknown. There is also a fundamental difference between what is false, and what is debatable. What causes autism? No one knows. Does vaccine cause autism? No. Is waiting for the vaccine the best strategy against Covid? Maybe. No one said anything about WHO being the arbiter of truth. But there are some things that are fundamentally false, and those should be removed. Scientists are not infalliable, but you hardly ever listen to the opinion of one, you are listening to the opinion of many. This is how science works, it is the opinion of many who are specialized in the field and understand. Scientists disclose their funders as part of proper etiquette, and I doubt many funders would advocate for lockdowns seeing how that affects revenue of all businesses. Unless you mean to say Zoom is buying out thousands of scientists. I mean just think for a second, what company or organisation with enough clout really wants Covid to be a thing? Use your brain. This whole challenging funding thing is such a myth. It took years and years of scientists trying to convince the world that tobacco is dangerous, and they did it because despite the best efforts of the tobacco company to deny it through coercion, bribery and legal actions, the science was crystal clear early on. And most scientists are smart people, they could have had a successful career doing something else. Funding is important, but pay check is not the end all, be all for them.

  20. So you authing to your email is encrypted, you sending the email is encrypted. And the email itself is encrypted. What is the point of the VPN? I get it your cell service sucks.. So you use the local wifi.. My point is pretty much all traffic is encrypted these days, and your encrypting the email itself.. And your vpn sucks - but sure lets pay X $ a month so my connection can suck more than it already does.. I don't get it... Other than you sending dns in the clear - what part of your internet traffic do you actually think is in the clear? That this local wifi could see? This is no longer everything in http, and open wifi.

  24. the original source doesn't say this in fact Yeah it's weird how Neowin added this. I've been doing it since the 9x days, I had a monitor in the 90s which would frequently default to 60hz at higher resolutions, being a CRT it was unusable so I'd regularly change it to a higher refresh.

  31. Proof in point of why social media needs regulation, right in this quote. Your touting the same bull you've been spoon-feed from fringe "news" sources. Continuing to spread disinformation on the social site you got mind warped from. COVID was a new, rapidly evolving situation. They didn't lie. They didn't know. There's a difference. As information continued to be received, researched, discovered, validated, they adjusted their recommendations accordingly. It wasn't until March that the whole microdroplet vector was discovered, air transmission routes. To this day there are still discoveries/new things being validated with the virus. It's really that simple. Not everything is a mass conspiracy.

  37. Microsoft is improving the favorites menu in Edge

agreed, I get they want it to be touch friendly but there really should be some kind of detection and/or toggle for that. There is in Chrome already, Edgium always runs in the "touch" version of Chromium. So which is it that Chrome has? Detection or toggle? Automatic detection would be great, but if it's a manual toggle I'd rather Edge stay in the "touch" version for the sake of my Surface...

  41. Assassin's Creed Valhalla receives detailed PC system requirements

That's impressive, I don't think I've ever seen a dev break down system requirements to such a extent. I should be able to do 1080p@60 even though in the above they list a 1080 and I have a 1070. I might just have to tweak something like shadow detail down from High, nothing you tend to notice unless you're looking for it.

  46. I wouldn't go so far to say Facebook and a lot of social media is "evil," but if a lot of it "went away," the world would be better off. Whatever happened to common sense, as in don't use Facebook? Whatever happened to person-to-person contact and other means of communication? They are still around and very "alive and well."

  47. Apple announces the iPhone 12 Pro series with new design and more

...and as a big hug to mother nature, Apple no longer includes earphones or charges in the box right; I really don't understand why people are making such a big deal about it. The headphones and charger included in previous models were garbage anyway and most people either put them in a drawer and forgot about them or trashed them anyway. They were a waste of money and resources that could be put elsewhere. I don't need a new set of crappy headphones and a cheap/slow 5w charger with every new phone I purchase and most others don't either .... What are you taking about? I use them. They get the job done. and that's great for you but statistically speaking, you're in the minority there and that's what they're looking at for the decision. If this is really about saving the environment, as apposed to shameless cost cutting, Apple would have put up a page where customers who want earphones and chargers can get them for free.

  48. Electric vehicles are perfect for delivery vans. Much more efficient on "fuel" use as stopping and starting does use a lot of petrol at high revs on normal vehicles. And you get extra benefit of faster acceleration with electric vehicles and their quieter. And in the UK you dont have to way the congestion charges in London etc.

  49. How is that different from any other console? I thought it was common to have an additional storage slot for the consumer to upgrade, but the primary storage isn't accessible to the consumer. In the PS2 (when applicable), PS3, and PS4, the storage was always user replaceable and the consoles came with instructions on how to do so. It didn’t require special Sony-authorized hardware or anything. In the PS5, the flash storage is no longer user serviceable, but it comes with an empty standard PCIe Gen 4 M.2 for the user to expand the system storage with. So you can use standard computer parts that meet the min performance spec. On the Xbox, internal storage has never been user serviceable and requires proprietary ports/hardware to expand system storage.

I learnt my lesson after being shafted repeatedly by Windows Phone/Mobile and the Lumias. I'm sure I'm not alone. Nobody at our work has any interest in this garbage and that's after we standardised on Lumias for all of our employees.
