  4. The Surface Duo is already $200 off at the Microsoft Store

i doubt it - but if it is 200 - i will seriously consider getting one or not, the reviews are not promising at all: The Good It's pretty. The flat glass and ultra-thin profile makes for a compelling ultra-premium looking design. The Bad The lack of a split keyboard means you're stuck with one-finger typing in the standard "book" configuration. You have to swap to single-screen mode to get two fingers on the keyboard. The phone is extraordinarily wide for no reason. Android apps don't do well on wide screens, so you either get a huge UI or giant margins. The width means the phone doesn't fit well in a pocket and is hard to hold. The whole notification experience is terrible, with a skinny notification panel and no way to see notifications when the phone is closed. There's no NFC. There's no wireless charging. There's no water resistance. There's no high refresh rate display. Microsoft is shipping last year's SoC. You will probably break the USB port. The software is very buggy, and you should expect to regularly fight with wonky gestures, a wonky touchscreen, and lots of problems that will need a reboot or at least closing and opening the phone again. The $1400 price tag. The Ugly Microsoft's "We would really like to ship this existing hardware" mentality ruined all the hype around its entrance into the Android ecosystem.

  6. No, it goes to show how incompetent he is. You really think the POTUS should be so cavalier about security? To be fair, he's... What? Seventy-something? I wouldn't necessarily expect someone that old to be super familiar with things like 2FA and password managers. Of course, you could make the argument that means you're not really qualified for the position. And I'd probably agree. But no matter what we're gonna have at least 4 more years of that... Someone who has access to the football and claims to be tech savvy doesn't get to use age as an excuse unless he is to be declared incompetent for the position.

If they’re changing the service pipeline it’s best to test now in the Dev channel. Deal with it. Sounds like you should go to a slower channel. Or should they make a dev, dev channel. Or ultra dev?

  16. The Surface Duo is already $200 off at the Microsoft Store

Arstechnica has a very in-depth and scathing review of the Surface Duo that puts the entire development of this device to perspective. Few points: There were lots of unnecessary compromises to make this device feel like a moleskin. This device was supposed to run Windows (Andromeda) The move to Android was outsourced to a different company Android delayed the launch of this device They just wanted this device out to recoup the cost of development The device is still unusably buggy

  19. It's sad that this once great project is now almost "dead". No innovation, no amazing stuff, just a bunch of boring package updates every time. The good thing is that there are good Ubuntu distros out there developing good and new stuff.

  22. lol. you sound a little upset there. ❄️ That's a very amateur and sad deflection... I know you are, but what am I? Good one... Deflection? I'm not the one tossing out a silly TDS term over legit incompetence. He can't even use a secure password, let alone be trusted with mission critical information. It's beyond pathetic. It's also beyond pathetic that you can't see why this is completely amateur.

  28. Fairphone 3+ review: I love what it stands for, even if it's not a great phone

Unlike in the US, there are many countries where people actually prefer to fix their devices and extend their useful life and avoid waste whenever possible! What has the US got to do with this conversation? But seeing as you bring it up, I'm sure there are a lot of people there who also prefer to fix their devices - the country where old fashioned design still holds value (eg: Kirby vacuum cleaners). But sufficient for this to be a valid consumer device? I doubt that... And extend their useful device. I have an iPhone 5 that I use for a side-business phone. That's an 8 year old phone, and it still does everything I want - I have replaced the screen and battery and it took me literally less than 20 minutes using tools I already had available. Are the batteries and screen for this niche phone going to be easily available 5 years down the line? Again, I strongly doubt that...

  29. Xbox Live issue preventing Xbox One and Windows 10 users from launching their games [Update]

Actually, not in this case. You can just go offline and the games should launch fine. The license is stored on your PC or physical console and don’t require online authentication. This problem probably has to be due to technical reasons.

Would love a way to send a silent message that wouldn't trigger an audio notification, that way you could send a non urgent message without disturbing someone.

  39. Mozilla is worried about being collateral damage in Google's antitrust case

I have no problem with Mozilla taking money from Google to make their search the default. Anyone who cares will execute a couple of "clicks" to change it to DuckDuckGo or whatever. the problem is 90% people don't care and stick to the default, which puts smaller providers at a disadvantage. OK? Mozilla can't make people care... I am sure at least 90% of people who install Firefox know how to change a search default.

He is just doing it his way because he is the President and he thinks is the smartest person he knows like with everything. BTW We just have a little more than two months left of his nonsense.

  42. What Twitter is supposed to do if he doesn't have two step enabled? Technically speaking maga2020! is a strong enough password. You got letters, a symbol, numbers and 9 digits. Twitter could require an upper case but that would not have made this password stronger. What makes it weak is the meaning behind it which makes the password easy to guess. It's not Twitter problem in my book it's a clear case of pebcak and lack of good government policy regarding security of social media accounts. If true I guess it's more important to block Tiktok for the average Joe than asking the president to have two step enabled and hard to guess password. Strong password of you were to use it, not the Pres since that is a common phrase he and his administration uses. Like i said easy to guess. But i don't think it's Twitter responsibility to check if someone use a password easy to guess because of context. Two step would prevent access even with the password anyway. Again if true i think it's a user problem more than Twitter's problem. If the password would have been 1234 or password1 then yeah that's Twitter's problem.

  43. No, it goes to show how incompetent he is. You really think the POTUS should be so cavalier about security? It's Twitter... who cares? The person could have deleted the account and Twitter probably would have refused to help get it back. Failed opportunity there. Plus if you consider the actual strength rating of that password, it's not that bad. It's probably better than 95% of the passwords out there that have no numbers or characters in them. But I guess he's incompetent because his Twitter password isn't 70 characters long and would take a million years to brute force hack, right? I fail to see why people are so triggered by this. Oh wait, I do know why... Who cares? His 87 million followers care, and there are followers out there that act on his whim. Now lets have someone get access to his account and incite riots. But hey, who cares? There isn't a big enough facepalm for this. Strength rating means f all when it comes to predictability. When it can be guessed, who needs brute force methods?

I don't usually give LG praise as they've been flopping pretty hard in the smartphone market, but I gotta say this is the most innovative dual screen device I've seen ANY OEM/ODM come up with yet that actually makes since more that just adding an extra screen for the sake of it.
