Can't you see how insane that view is?! Are you saying that anyone who is not a christian has no morals? Are you saying japanese, indians, arabs, korean, etc. all have no morals? That view of yours is no better than racism. Basically you think that christians have a moral high ground and all the others are lesser people. Having morals has zero to do with religion and everything to do with upbringing. You don't have to be taught about fantastical beings to be a good person.4 points -

"This is why religion should never be allowed to have a place in governments. It is inherently biased." But the problem with that is... it's not really possible to completely separate 'church and state' like some try to do since people in general have a moral foundation formed around something and for many, at least here in the USA, it's based around Christianity so that will be at the core of basic morals which will have have a effect on laws made. personally the way I see it... the further laws get away from Christian standards the worse things will tend to get. but as society gets more secularized and Christianity declines, society as a whole gets worse. it's just a natural consequence of humanity moving away from God as when someone moves away from God, sin tends to fill that void since when people tend to make up morality as they go along(like is more typical to those on the left), morality tends to decline little-by-little as the years/decades etc pass as morality is subjective to these kinds of people instead of being based around God's objective truth and natural law etc. The last paragraph in your answer makes my point I wrote earlier. Talking about moving away from 'christian standards' (others don't matter?), 'morality & sin' (whose definition of this?) etc. is why religion shouldn't mixed with day to day life.2 points -

This is a straight rebranding of a cable service (in fact, one that has been mentioned here on Neowin before - by me). Like all streaming services, you still need an Internet provider to use it; the bandwidth problem will therefore still be there (as it is with all streaming services). Fire and Prime Video are service-agnostic, as is Apple - and Google is headed in that direction (however, it isn't completely there yet)1 point -

I haven't played the games (I've only done the start of W3 so far) so I'm obviously not a true game fan, but I thought the first series was decent enough. My question is, what did the readers of the books think about the games and the series? Did either do the books justice? The series is closer to the books than the games, the games are sequels to the books, timeline wise, and the games made their own share of changes from the books to begin with so game fans complaining about the show making changes to the source material need to sit down. The only issue book fans, sensible ones, have with the series is the choice of doing the 3 converging timelines, and the way Garelt and Ciri meet was changed and made less impactful, though I think that was all down to time and episode constraints. It's not like netflix gave them 24 eps, you work with what you're given. that's a fair point too. And to be fair the bulk of the complaints I've heard are aesthetics like Geralt's amulet being changed to a simple medallion instead of a actual wolf head shape and such. Yeah, that's pretty much most of it, looks. They harped on the fact Triss wasn't a redhead in the show, but seem to have overlooked the fact that she only looks that way in the games. The books, from what I remember, have her closer to what she looks like in the tv series. Oh well, I don't care for these arguments. Books are books, tv shows are tv shows, and movies are movies. They don't match 1:1, that's just the nature of them. I'm fine with minor changes to better match the medium in question. And time is always the key factor. Books match better to tv series, as long as you have the time/episode counts to.1 point -

Neowin trackers and 3rd party cookies
Xilo reacted to jnelsoninjax for a topic
I think that everyone is overlooking one simple thing: anywhere you go, you are tracked by something, a cookie, a script, etc. If you don't like it, don't visit the site, I think that it is fairly simple. Neowin has been a site I have used for years, and I do not worry about being tracked, why should I? I'm not doing anything illicit or illegal, so why do I care if a site can tell what I was looking at, what are they going to do with the data, besides the fact that the amount of data that a website would receive in 24 hours would be allot! I really doubt that the website owners/operators have the time to sift through all the collected data!1 point -

They've lost the plot this year. They are getting more and more like Samsung everyday. Soon, they'll have 10 phones all at different price points. It's getting silly. If they carry on like this, they'll lose customers. Maybe they should just release three phones a year. Nord, 8 and 8Pro.....although I'd be happy at just two. The nord and the pro. Discuss: Which abandoned video game franchise do you wish would make a comeback?
Max Norris reacted to Ideas Man for a topic
Tex Murphy. I love all of the Tex Murphy games and wish they'd finish the story how they planned to. Probably would've years ago if not for Microsoft buying and killing Access. I'd be happy with remasters of UAKM, Pandora Directive and Overseer too, at least with modern controls. The stories in these games are still really good and while the FMV is clearly dated (UAKM was released on four CDs for MS-DOS), it's still got replay value, though I don't know how you could fix the FMV quality.1 point -

Yeah, they aren't being sued for success. They've entered into agreements with other companies to only use Google products. That locks out the competition. YouTube will remove videos containing misinformation around COVID-19 vaccines
astropheed reacted to Brony for a topic
Such as when the WHO said that the Coronavirus was harmless, or when a medic that was obviously censored, claimed that it wasn't simple flu (and later he died), or the other medic (that also was censored and tagged as a conspiracy theorist) that claimed that the Chinese State hid vital information and now she is a refugee in the USA. People claim that they are pro-science but they are unable to understand the core basics of science, the scientific method: hypothesis -> test -> thesis. Practically every new hypothesis is crazy until it is proved. If you deny the right to question, then you are denying the science. For example, graphene could be the source of limitless energy. It breaks many axioms. Now, if we ban it, and the whole society is as dumb as to deny a new hypothesis without testing, then we could lose a huge advance in society. Maybe it is a fake or maybe not but in case of doubt, TEST IT NOT JUST BAN IT. There are some wacko hypotheses around here but without testing, we couldn't simply deny it. ALSO Youtube is managed by hypocrites. They censor some videos because they (and most of the time, without proof of it) consider as "fake news". However, Youtube promotes and earns money from companies selling snake-oil and shady companies.1 point -
