  1. Less content, lower quality content and rising prices? No thanks. Guess it's time to cancel Netflix.

  3. Spotify will soon increase its prices in more markets

Are these companies dumb or something? It's mid pandemic, a lot of people stuck at home and they decide, you know what, lets jack up the prices. If any of companies pulls this nonsense here in Europe, I'm dropping the services. I don't need them that much to just pay whatever they demand. Especially when services are pretty mediocre. Netflix in Europe has way less content than in US yet we pay same price. And video quality in browsers is just horrifyingly bad and their apps are slow and clunky so I avoid them coz of that. Jack up the prices and I'm unsubbing.

  4. Netflix increases prices for standard and premium subscriptions in the U.S.

Yup. as soon as it hits $20 I will cut it. All the good content is always 1 season and then stops. There is no value, no closure.

  6. We're so sorry that you're so miserable... I always wonder how people exist that don't realize other people have different things affect them. It is the old 'it works for me' comment section, that doesn't help, misses the point, and shows how sheltered and clueless people can be. I guess empathy is becoming a foreign and strange concept to people. I'm doing ok, and the 'Family separation Policy' doesn't directly affect me, but it breaks my heart that people are ok with it, and can look at children in cages and someone justify they deserve to be there and separated from their family. As a kid I remember reading similar horror stories of Germany and wonder how anyone, let alone a chunk of society could do and allow such things. Now I see it in my country, and see the lack of understanding and empathy that fuels it, and I still do not understand. Cool rant, but you two are whining about politics in a thread about Flight Simulator... If every discussion forces you deviate and complain about politics, please do yourself a favor and get some therapy. It's not healthy to live in such misery and unhappiness. And I mean that in a sincere fashion. In summary, stay on topic and go complain about politics somewhere else...

  8. Finally. This crap drove me insane with NVIDIA drivers. Installed latest one using "Clean install" and Windows just decides it's going to install some ancient driver from summer 2019. And this nonsense also happens on EVERY major Windows update. I just don't get it why they need so long to do things that should be this way from the beginning. Drivers being conveniently served to user are great, but you need clear control over things like drivers coz if things go wrong with these, systems can be entirely unusable.

  11. Sky Broadband announces new FTTP broadband packages

Innovation is the right word! FTTP delivery with FTTC speeds! That’s a new one. I never had a problem with Sky Broadband in the years I had it, but once BT launched their 915/100Mb service in my area for just a few quid more, I had my eye on it. As far as I know, only Zen are reselling that particular FTTP package in my area. I waited for six months for Sky before deciding to jump ship and join BT. Having (almost) gigabit Internet comes in useful on occasion but the 100Mb upload has been fantastic for cloud syncing, nightly NAS cloud backups and working from home with large files.

  13. Trump campaign website briefly defaced by hackers

this whole presidency is a scam lol If this presidency is a scam, then it is a darn good scam because my retirement is skyrocketing! Uh huh, sure. Uh huh, you probably don't even have a retirement package. My retirement was barely moving and lost some during the previous administration. If that's true, and if that's the only thing that matters to you, then yeah! Awesome! Bit of a shame about all those dead people... But woohoo retirement! What a rediculous statement to say. Of course, my retirement matters to me. What other people does is not a concern of mine since I cannot control what they do and think. My decision is solely mine, and it is the same for them. If they don't have a retirement plan, that's not my fault. In addition, I don't force my polical beliefs to anyone. I only stated that with this administration my retirement went up! Trumpers always think they're in store for riches.

  21. They've gone back to how it used to be circa 1999-2015... Now if they'd stop shovelling senseless Modern App driver tie-ins on us automatically too (such as with every printer that gets installed) and then restore the ability to choose/block which updates you want to install. We can have our cake and eat it too...

  25. Apple announces $64.7B revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020

Except none of that is supported by facts... Since when is innovation the only indicator of a strong market? Name an industry that requires constant change and innovation to remain successful. I don't think you realize that most people don't want things to constantly change. Products evolve into what people want, and then they stay that way for a long time. Proof of that is incremental increases in sales, which is exactly what we see with the major players in the phone market.

  27. Apple announces $64.7B revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020

I think it's the right thing to do. Most people have iPhone chargers now, or have bought multi-USB chargers. Why add something that's going to be stuck in a drawer. Also helps with profit margins. Same happened with computers when they stopped supplying keyboards and mice. Just additional landfill. Most people don't have quick chargers laying around... and if it really was the case, why is Apple including a C->Lightning cable, when every iPhone, except for 11Pro, shipped with a USB-A brick? If Apple is so concerned about the environment, they could add "Include charger - 1$" at checkout. Or... you know... not release a phone every year. The "Planet" argument is bollocks. The reason they did it is that it makes the box smaller so they can pack more of them into the same space. A cost-cutting.

  29. I reckon Trump have shares in Samsung and that is why he is banning Huawei and other Chinese companies. That is the only reason Samsung is now growing so much. Their phones are good hardware wise, but the U.I is awful and the phones are full of bloat. I will stay with my Huawei, hopefully by the time I need to change it, things will have got better.

  36. Brydge's laptop-style keyboard for the Surface Pro X ships in December

I would be interested why buy a Surface Pro X of all things in the first place. had an sp7, but 3.5-5 hour battery life is a joke. Not a defect with mine, had 3 of them. liked the form factor, exclusively used for browsing, office, and onenote. Had a spectre x360, hated it, went and bought a spx and love it. Has Microsoft finally port Office to ARM? Yes, and it has been for quite some time. TL;DR: Office is compiled for ARM. Presents itself as a 32-bit program so third party plug-ins still work. https://www.techrepublic.com/a...-we-learned-at-build-2018/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.techrepublic.com/a...t-we-learned-at-build-2018/ "Some applications -- like Microsoft Office -- can mix x86 and Arm code using CHPE (Compiled Hybrid Portable Executable) DLLs with Arm64 code but 32-bit x86 interfaces; as a result, hundreds of third-party Office add-ins that expect Office to be an x86 application will work with Office on Arm too." Hmm... that is an interesting approach to be sure. But WoA will be dead until good, sub 500 Euro devices come to the market... Also how do bootloaders work on these machines? Is it locked down like phones? What if you need to reinstall Windows? I'm not entirely sure how bootloaders work, but if the machine won't boot to the desktop, you'll have to create a recovery drive using another computer. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage So you can't just install any OS you want... one of many reasons why I will never buy an ARM device as a laptop/PC you can install any OS you want that supports the chipset with drivers so good luck lol. surface pros, including the intel models, have never been great for *nix, and that's not about to change.

  40. God, don't make me defend Intel! Argh, I hate everyone. LOL Intel's 14nm is closer to AMD's 7nm than most people realize. AMD's gates on 7nm+ are only 20% smaller than Intel gates on 14nm+. Most of Intel's 10nm is smaller than AMD's 7nm.** This is why the whole node size being used by consumers is just not a good thing. It doesn't tell users anything, and it also has become a marketing trick. AMD seems to be pulling back from this a bit, and they really need to, as a couple of years from now could put them in the position of having a 7nm or 5nm node that has the same size design as an Intel 3nm chip, or NVidia having a 3nm that isn't actually smaller or more performant - which is more likely. Also to note for AMD, in the new CPUs/GPUs - they are punching above their weight, as they are outperforming their die density, which is something they should be bragging about, as it is more impressive than 7nm+ nomenclature that really is meaningless to consumers or tech enthusiasts. **How do we know? We can see this, borrow time on an electron electron microscope at a University and spend a few hours with the latest silicon from AMD and Intel.

  41. Apple announces $64.7B revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020

iPhone revenue fell below expectations, declining year over year. Total revenue grew only 1% compared to this time last year. This is the beginning of the end, in 10 years time Apple will be what Blackberry is now. The only way to turn this around is to bring back the charger and earbuds for next year's iPhone.

  46. damn, this can be a huge reason for IT to push Edge to users, and in turn improve Edge adoption. the Chromium jump was fantastic, the browsing experience feels far improved now, but the Microsoft-additions to bare-bones chromium really make it shine - i dare say even more than Google-ified Chrome. I've actually uninstalled Chrome from my work laptop, and am happy with Edge now. But i'd really wish they brought in some of the original Edge features like much in-depth Cortana and markup integrations.

  49. We have several layers of fail in this case 1) poor execution on the part of commanders. Definitely the primary fault is theirs (AIUI their target was already in custody). 2) the PD's Intelligence Unit was asleep at the wheel, not knowing many facts they should have before any action was taken. 3) no-knock warrants, which are used far too often and without body cams on all participants. Personally, I don't like no-knock warrants at all; too many ways they can go sideways. Hard entries should only be done for anti-terror raids, hot pursuits, and hostage rescues. Period.
