The usual authoritarian BS from big tech where they censor pretty much anything they simply disagree with, which is typically the truth... "To anger a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell him the truth" - Teddy Roosevelt ; this is funny because it's true it's obvious Trump won to anyone who's not blinded by the leftist lies as there is simply no way Trump actually lost as he's obviously far more popular with the common person than Biden is. just look at the rallies etc and Trump got something like 10 million more votes than he did in 2016 and Trump's lead 'somehow' disappeared through the night when the corrupt leftists cheated. also, there is simply no way Biden is more popular than Obama was in 2008.6 points -

It's too bad Biden can't even remember who he is half the time, so feeling empathy will be quite a stretch. In all seriousness, being the cool nice guy doesn't automatically make you a good leader. We found that out with 8 years of #44. But hey, if the middle and lower class enjoy being screwed while the president gives you a calmly worded FU, then you got exactly what you voted for.4 points -

We found that out with 8 years of #44. But hey, if the middle and lower class enjoy being screwed while the president gives you a calmly worded FU, then you got exactly what you voted for. It was thanks to President Obama that I was able to get Medicaid coverage and see a doctor for the first time in 10 years. Not a single Republican did ANYTHING to help the uninsured. They don't care about them and never will. I am lower class and directly benefitted from Obama's policies. In fact, I may not even be alive today if not for ObamaCare expanding the Medicaid expansion and allowing me to get regular checkups without having to sell off furniture to afford each doctor visit. I take an FDA orphan drug called Korlym that costs $300 per pill if you are uninsured, and must take 3 a day. Under Republicans I'd be told to 'get rekt' when I explain I can't afford to pay $900 per day on a monthly basis for the rest of my life. Under a Democrat I'm told "Here, we will help you with that." That is the stark difference between the party of greed and the party of sharing and caring. EDIT: To be fair I should also give credit to Governor Steve Beshear, a Democrat governor in my state who back in 2014 signed an executive order expanding Medicaid. And also members of Congress who fought hard to get the bill passed.3 points -

That's the trouble with tech firms, socially they're liberal but that doesn't extend to their economic beliefs; then they turn into libertarians lol. (Neo)Liberal means that they could sell and we could buy. Libertarian means that we don't want more laws. Tech firms are highly (neo) liberals because consumerism moves their business. They're libertarian in that they don't want to pay taxes. Nobody wants to pay taxes. :-3 I do. They're the cost of civilization.3 points -

Good. I'm looking forward to Twitter banning that sociopathic human garbage at some point after Jan 20 at noon. I give it until Feb 1 before he violates the Twitter TOS enough to get a permban. It will be nice after Jan 20 to have a president who is capable of feeling empathy and isn't the most selfish, self-absorbed, narcissistic person in living existence. I always saw him as the narcissist and sociopath he was way before he entered politics. When he had that 'Apprentice' show. Which is when he was still a Democrat. A fact that his cult seems to conveniently overlook. Whenever I rewatch 'Boardwalk Empire' where Nucky is planning ... his own birthday party for himself ... as a fully grown adult .... it reminds me of Trump. Oh, and I couldn't possibly care less if President-Elect Joseph Biden does in fact have dementia. Which there's no medical proof of, by the way. Situations like that are why we have Vice Presidents. If he does in fact have dementia then he'd resign and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris would be sworn in. In other words, it is wholly irrelevant. Republicans seemed fine with a confirmed dementia case being president: Reagan. It didn't bother them then. Double standards.2 points -

Trump's lead didn't "somehow" disappear. It's called counting mail-in and absentee ballots, which many states don't even allow, until AFTER the Election Day votes have been counted. Are you in favor of disenfranchising anyone who doesn't vote on Election Day? That would exclude every person serving in the military from voting, as well as people like Trump (who voted with an absentee ballot this year). "censor pretty much anything they simply disagree with", you mean like Trump has been doing for 4 years now? Everything he disagrees with, no matter how truthful it's been, has always been viewed as "Fake News", written by "terrible reporters" from the "Enemy of the People". That's Authoritarian BS right there... To your point about "the usual authoritarian BS", is kinda rich considering Trump's been acting as an authoritarian his entire presidency. Furthermore, Twitter owns the service on which people Tweet. They decide the rules, and it's users are bound to abide by those rules. Sadly, people like Trump skirt those rules simply by being a "world leader" on their service. If he had been a citizen these past 4 years, his account would've been banned long ago. Biden might not be more popular than Obama (though it's cute that you admit that Obama was indeed popular), but the vast majority of Americans are simply fed up with Trump's abuse of the office. So much so, that millions more decided to vote this year, who didn't vote 4 years ago.2 points -

Office 2016 is an awful mess. Office has been progressively getting worse since 2010. I use 2010 at home and 2016 (365) at work. Since I work from home now, I recently did an experiment where I did 30 mins of work in Word 2016 on my work PC and then went back to see how long it would take me in Word 2010. Took less than half the time, and my window didn't randomly turn invisible (and need to be minimized/maximized a few times to get it to show back up from the taskbar) like it did in Word 2016. My #1 complaint about the new office (specifically Word) is that copy/pasting anything from anywhere is a total crapshoot. The only thing that is consistent is regardless what copy/paste settings you choose in options, it gets it wrong. Every. Single. Time. You'd think "keep text only" would at least do what you expect, but no, they didn't even get that right. If I perform the exact same operation in Word 2010, everything works as expected, but in 2016 pasting "keep text only" changes the existing formatting for no reason. In fact, doing the identical steps twice in a row doesn't even always produce consistent results. It's just nuts! Office 365 isn't Office 2016 anymore. Office 2019 is a snapshot of an older build of Office 365. Not sure I follow (which makes sense, MS has even managed to confuse everyone with their Office branding lol... seriously who is calling these shots?!). So there is Office 2019 now, but isn't it pretty much identical to 2016? But it's not actually called that, it's called 365? But if I go into my office products right now, it says that it's 2002!!! Can't make this up lol! Office 365 is a rolling release. It is regularly updated and upgraded. It started off life from Office 2016. Office 2019 was merely a snapshot in time of Office 365. Also, your build number is not the same as a version name. For example, the product is named Office 365 (actually its all Microsoft 365 now). The version (for me anyway) is 2008 (Build 13127.20760). It doesn't mean its Office 2008.1 point -
Teams personal features are now rolling out on desktop and the web
darkpuma reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
I will concede that it has a lot of issues, but how are you going to guarantee it will fail when it already has succeeded in its main market? I guarantee it will fail because: (1) it sucks to start with and the users hate it. Everyone that I personally know in my company (so lets say ~100 engineers) hate it. (2) if people in the main market don't like it (they only use it because it was forced down their throats), nobody else is going to willingly pick it up if it isn't even branded appropriately. To give an example: let's say you use Adobe Reader for your PDF viewing needs. There are lots of alternatives and one day you decide to look at the alternatives. Would you be more likely to try "PDF Expert" or "Deli Sandwiches"? It's an extreme/goofy argument, but that's how I see this. Nobody is going to thing "Teams" when it comes to "calling my mom", when they already think facetime, facebook messenger, skype, whatsapp, etc. Usage numbers do not agree with you. Teams for sure has its faults, but it also is far more than a video or chat client. Maybe you meant in the consumer space? You might be right, since its far more than any consumer needs (and probably wants).1 point -

To do what? What are you trying to do exactly? Are you wanting to run it on your PC, what OS is that running? Any specific anything your trying to do, usb, passthru for nics? What OSes do you plan on running as VMs? There are a lot of choices out there for virtualization.. Without some idea of what your wanting to do exactly, and what your trying to do it on.. It is not possible to suggest what might best for you... What might be best for me and my use case, could be 180 out from what your looking to do. Its like asking whats the best car.. How do you want to use this car, what are your wants for the car? Good mpg? How many people does it need to hold? What budget? Will you be towing anything with it? Where will you be driving it? Do you want it to be flex fuel, or should it be a diesel? There is a huge difference between say a little 2 seat convertible sports car, and Escalade.. We have no idea what hardware your using, we have no idea what you want to run as vm. We have no idea what you want to do with VMs, etc.. There is no possible way to suggest anything. What if I said the best VM software since sliced bread is X.. But X only is type 1, and you want to run this VM software under your OS, etc. etc. Maybe VM isn't even the best option for what your wanting to do.. Maybe docker setup would be better? Maybe better option would be to get a raspberry pi do it on that vs leaving your PC up running VM 24/7?? You might as well have just asked people what their fav color is.. Because all your going to get in response to such a question is what they use for VM software, for their specific use case, and what hardware they have and what they are doing..1 point -

Why would you even buy an SPX 2 over the M1 MacBook Air? The Air is cheaper ($1200 for the 256GB/16GB config), has longer battery life, and runs faster. Also, Craig Federighi said the M1 has the capability to run WoA, and it was up to Microsoft to add support, so it's probably coming soon.1 point -

iPhone 12 Pro Max review: Do not buy this phone
mip reacted to BigDingus for a topic
This review is a joke and should really be taken down or updated to be less contradictory. It's completely incoherent as it stands. The defining characteristic of a phone is not the unlock method for anyone but you. To say do not buy as a result of a worst case scenario of falling back to a PIN entry when you state elsewhere the device is near perfect... come on man. Who are you writing this review for, yourself or everyone else?? I think we all know the answer, so you might as well put it in appropriate words. "For me, it's a big enough deal to not buy the phone." Here, let's do a test one: Instead of saying "I don't like this article, do not read it." I could say, "For me, this article is an incoherent piece of trash. I won't be reading others by Rich Woods."1 point -

iPhone 12 Pro Max review: Do not buy this phone
matthiew reacted to Rich Woods for a topic
Well, if it's as short a term of a problem as you say, I'll update this review. However, assuming Apple goes back to its usual September schedule for iPhones next year, we're only about four months away from "just wait until the next iPhone" season. Except it's not a problem of the device. You don't buy a phone that clearly doesn't have X, then shave off 3 points of a review for not having something they never advertised. Out of all the reviews I've seen, I'm sad that this was the reason to not buy the Max... not the fact that maybe the cameras aren't leaps and bounds better than the other iPhone models, or the screen size being fairly large and maybe hard to navigate with one hand... nope, THIS was the reason. A problem that would by your standards exists going back as far as the iPhone X from 3 years ago and has nothing to do with this one being the "Pro Max" of today. Yea but we weren’t in a pandemic when the X came out. And we criticize devices all the time for not having features that the OEM never promises, because their competitors do have these features. Face ID worked a year ago. Now you have to type a PIN while you’re in public. Google didn’t have this problem this year because it had the sense to add a fingerprint sensor. And by all means, for anyone that’s ok with the compromise, go ahead and buy it. It’s fantastic. People seem more mad at the rating than anything else, but it’s a big deal if you’ve actually used the competition. The thing is, if you waited until we don’t have to wear masks anymore to buy this phone, my advice would probably be to wait until the iPhone 131 point -
