Thanks god we will have gigabytes of emoji junk in the base OS, that fortunately cannot be skipped or uninstalled, and loads into RAM without asking. So even more gigabytes of flash storage and RAM can be soldered onto the smartphone and tablet motherboards! Given there's only about 3000 odd and each one probably uses only around 1kb (tops) i'm sure mobile phone manufacturers aren't worried about the 3mb of storage just quite yet maybe next year when they add the 4 billion or so gender icons.

  12. Amazon Sidewalk is coming to turn your network into Amazon's

I fail to see how this will be helpful to anyone but law enforcement. To me, this "helps devices work better" is a BS statement, all it seems to be doing is making it easier for certain agencies to obtain easier access to the devices...

  13. The specs are too low end to run Windows using Parallels. First, the 32-GB eMMC storage is too tiny. It's enough to let Chrome OS run well with Android apps, even with 4-GB of RAM. To run Windows, you'd need a fast SSD that's at least 128-GB is size. The Celeron processor will be a snail running Windows virtually on Chrome OS. A Core i5, or i7, would work much better. 16-GB RAM will provide enough headroom to avoid swapping too often. Don't expect to see a Chromebook that can simultaneously run Chrome OS, Android apps, Linux, and Windows for under $1000 for quite some time.

  15. Yep, here it is. I clicked on this article, just to read all the snowflake responses of the hurt little boys. I truly hope some of the men here take a minute to notice how silly they sound. It also wouldn't hurt to revisit the groups and sources of conservative goofs that promote the male victim viewpoint, and that it might not be as credible or logical as it might have seemed when they were angsty teens.

Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing? Probably a bad thing seeing as how that's not enough to cover what's left of the books from what I hear. I guess amazon will wrap it up after this new conflict and drop some mostly open ended series finale with a bunch of unknowns left in the air.

What is the difference between this and predatory VPN services that use your device as a node? Amazon has to be the shadiest company right now, competing with Google.

  31. It's too bad Biden can't even remember who he is half the time, so feeling empathy will be quite a stretch. In all seriousness, being the cool nice guy doesn't automatically make you a good leader. We found that out with 8 years of #44. But hey, if the middle and lower class enjoy being screwed while the president gives you a calmly worded FU, then you got exactly what you voted for. It was thanks to President Obama that I was able to get Medicaid coverage and see a doctor for the first time in 10 years. Not a single Republican did ANYTHING to help the uninsured. They don't care about them and never will. I am lower class and directly benefitted from Obama's policies. In fact, I may not even be alive today if not for ObamaCare expanding the Medicaid expansion and allowing me to get regular checkups without having to sell off furniture to afford each doctor visit. I take an FDA orphan drug called Korlym that costs $300 per pill if you are uninsured, and must take 3 a day. Under Republicans I'd be told to 'get rekt' when I explain I can't afford to pay $900 per day on a monthly basis for the rest of my life. Under a Democrat I'm told "Here, we will help you with that." That is the stark difference between the party of greed and the party of sharing and caring. EDIT: To be fair I should also give credit to Governor Steve Beshear, a Democrat governor in my state who back in 2014 signed an executive order expanding Medicaid. And also members of Congress who fought hard to get the bill passed. So getting a decent job was out of the question? Democrats did nothing, their fault. Republicans did nothing, your fault. Oh, ok.

  32. Rockstar will offer Red Dead Online as a standalone game priced at $4.99

Chopping it down to just online content might not be much of a space difference, as the assets outside of specific mission content are still needed. Cutting out even 10GB of audio or specialized graphic assets would be a drop in a bucket in comparison. A lot of work, and if users will be migrated to have access to local story, a lot of work that won't help the users or Rockstar much. (I get the thoughts and appeal. I'm just offering a 'the data is already huge and won't make much difference' perspective.)

  36. Twitter will now warn users if they try to 'like' disputed tweets

Trump's lead didn't "somehow" disappear. It's called counting mail-in and absentee ballots, which many states don't even allow, until AFTER the Election Day votes have been counted. Are you in favor of disenfranchising anyone who doesn't vote on Election Day? That would exclude every person serving in the military from voting, as well as people like Trump (who voted with an absentee ballot this year). "censor pretty much anything they simply disagree with", you mean like Trump has been doing for 4 years now? Everything he disagrees with, no matter how truthful it's been, has always been viewed as "Fake News", written by "terrible reporters" from the "Enemy of the People". That's Authoritarian BS right there... To your point about "the usual authoritarian BS", is kinda rich considering Trump's been acting as an authoritarian his entire presidency. Furthermore, Twitter owns the service on which people Tweet. They decide the rules, and it's users are bound to abide by those rules. Sadly, people like Trump skirt those rules simply by being a "world leader" on their service. If he had been a citizen these past 4 years, his account would've been banned long ago. Biden might not be more popular than Obama (though it's cute that you admit that Obama was indeed popular), but the vast majority of Americans are simply fed up with Trump's abuse of the office. So much so, that millions more decided to vote this year, who didn't vote 4 years ago.

Windows 2K Pro is my all-time favorite. The stability and performance of it was incredible at the time; I left 98SE in the dust with 2K. I stuck around with 2K for the first year of XP because there were so many drastic changes and bugs, I wanted those ironed out before I moved on. Server 2k3 with the "normal user" mods comes in a close second for me. Modern day, Windows 7 would be my choice.

Well, if it's as short a term of a problem as you say, I'll update this review. However, assuming Apple goes back to its usual September schedule for iPhones next year, we're only about four months away from "just wait until the next iPhone" season.

Fair play Rich, you`re going to get some grief about giving it a 7 and "do not buy" tag though! Also how on earth does a weather app chew up 45GB of data in a couple of days? This is a problem I can forsee with 5G, people may have a data cap of a couple of gig, then get charged for going over at extortionate rates because some daft process gulps a shed load of data...

But credit as in CCP Social Credit system. For a moment, after seeing the title, I felt very guilty for recommending the phone to a vision-impaired friend. I then had a deep sigh of relief after reading Rich’s ridiculous reason for his outrageous no-recommendation. I am never going to waste any more time reading such half-a**ed reviews.

  48. iPhone 12 Pro Max review: Do not buy this phone

I wrote that iPhone 11 Pro review. The difference was that we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic. Face ID was fine at the time but the circumstances have changed. And so has IOS. If you head into Settings, Face ID and Passcode, click Set Up An Alternate Appearance, and do it with your mask. This is what I'm talking about. IOS requires some attention to the OS, not just doing selfies. Have you actually tried doing this? If you try to set up an alternate appearance with a mask on iOS says that your face is obstructed. If you've had any other results, let me know.

  49. Favorite Windows OS version

All Windows versions have pluses and minus and just went with the current Windows 10 because that is what I use now. Windows 7 and XP (at SP2) were good. Bad versions I skipped,,, Windows Me was just crap. It came on a new PC I purchased and had to "downgrade" to Windows 98 SE. Windows Vista was not ready for prime time. Windows 8 was just a bad mistake with that Start Screen.

  50. iPhone 12 Pro Max review: Do not buy this phone

Just some candid feedback: The "7" verdict really doesn't seem to line up with your pro's and con's. It does seem a bit more personal and less objective on that one point and you started into that pretty early on. iPhone 11 Pro review: An actual, meaningful upgrade - Neowin Last year's model was fairly given a 9.0. And I think the 12 improves over what was liked them. However, an 8 or a continued 9 would have been fairer with the title - "iPhone 12 Pro review: An slightly less, meaningful upgrade". A DO NOT BUY is too far, and will leave many before they even read the rest of the review to think there is actually something wrong/defective with the phone. Something to keep in mind when issuing a topic title like that.
