"They said the government should give people the right to repair electronic products in law which would require producers to supply repair manuals, affordable spare parts for products, and for products to be designed so that repair is not prevented through limited access to physical or software tools; " Really interested to see how this plays out around the world with apple. Would be great if they're no longer allowed to sell their devices in half of the world. Not like they make any tax contributions so of no loss to the economy.2 points -

The make some of the best games I've ever played. What are you talking about? Nier Automata is a masterpiece. provided you think a "masterpiece" means mediocre game play boring plot but a sexy robot for some reason then you're right. I imagine you've played it for a significant amount of time? Because its gameplay is anything but boring. It's quite dynamic and stays interesting for many hours. Tell me, what is a good game? No. i played it for like 5 minutes, realized they wanted me to connect with the plot and care what happens and never touched it again. boring. What is a good game? witcher 3 did everything better. Well, there you have it I guess. I didn't like The Witcher 3. I played it for a lot more than 5 minutes, probably closer to 10 hours. I don't go around saying CDP-R don't make good games, because I know people think W3 is good. You should give Nier a chance, having opinions on how boring and bland the story is after only 5 minutes of playing is disingenuous.2 points -
Sony promises more PlayStation 5 units are coming to retailers before end of year
fusi0n and one other reacted to Nexus1974 for a topic
Will take that with a pinch of salt. But I also implore people not to buy a PS5 from an scalpers. Leave them with all their unsold overpriced units. Only way this practice will stop. And Sony (and every company) needs to only sell 1 item to 1 address using 1 credit card unless they work with recognised retailers, for at least the 1st round of purchases.2 points -

Salesforce is reportedly in talks to acquire Slack
exotoxic reacted to Crow- for a topic
they're a bit different, slack is ok if you don't have many people/projects/teams/channels but when you start to have lot of them + integration with files, boards and repos (if you're a dev), teams start to be much better and organized (if used properly) In my company, we use both. IMHO Slack is much better than Teams for chatting, while Teams is much better than Slack for Video calls/conferences. I don't like much the teams concept in Teams, I prefer the simplicity of the channels list in Slack. The other thing is the chat UI, which is more simple and streamlined in Slack. It's easier to follow a conversation, and you have threads, full emoji support, etc. I like the calendar though. Nowadays I mostly manage my calendar from Teams instead of Outlook. Slack calls are very poor in quality and sometimes not stable at all. In that matter Teams it's so much better, and we basically chat in Slack and then launch a call in Teams, because it's a big difference.1 point -
Square Enix will let most employees work from home permanently
astropheed reacted to Atoqir for a topic
I personally think the bigger issue will start showing itself in about a year or so. Depression. Most people working from home can't separate work from, well, home. Having to go to a different building helps with that. Depends on the person probably. For me me and my partner, our live quality has quadrupled. No more 12 hours wasted for each person on commute. Going later to bed so we can have more fun in the evening. Sleep a bit longer so we aren't dead tired at the end of the week anymore. We cook fresh every day now and eat way earlier so we have a longer evening and don't feel blown up when going to bed. I have a bigger and better screen at home and way better keyboard so my eyes and wrists tire less... The list goes on. And since we both work in IT our work and meetings are way more efficient without people constant annoying me when I try to walk to the toilet or trying to have a work free lunch. Luckily our whole management now is on board and when things get normal again we will probably only have to go to the offices 2 days a week.1 point -

Having to go to a different building helps with that. For sure, it hasn't got that bad yet, but a few people that I work with live in smaller places so don't have the clear separation between work and home. I'm fairly lucky, because I have a room where I work and importantly, can close the door at the end of the day. Not as good as leaving the office but definitely helps.1 point -

Sony promises more PlayStation 5 units are coming to retailers before end of year
acetken reacted to RichardK for a topic
They should have skipped retailers entirely. You can't buy one in person anyway, so the only way to buy one is online. They should be selling these at playstation.com exclusively. And there should not be a normal buying process. You just login to your account and indicate you want to buy one, when one becomes available, they charge your credit card and ship it to you. And, the only person that can activate it online is the account owner. That is the way this should have been handled.1 point -

Lol. Delivery estimates have been in December since basically an hour after the pre-orders opened. And none of the apple stores around here have any in stock. The only places you can find them by me are at carrier stores, and they have limited selection (color, size, space). When I was getting my 5G SIM setup, they had plenty of people looking for the blue pro maxes but only had the smaller pro in gold.1 point -
Here's why FIFA 21 on PC will be inferior to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
Geezy reacted to Paul1979UK for a topic
So it's a free update on the new consoles and they are saying they can't do the same for PC gamers that want the extra bells and whistles? The PC by it's very nature scales over weak and powerful hardware, if they wanted too, there is no reason why they couldn't give the upgrade for PC gamers. In any case, I'm sure EA this did last gen and also I think that PES game did the same, I ended up banning those two games for 2 years at the time because of that, looks like I'll be doing the same again lol. My advice, don't buy it, that's the only way they will change. Also, I'm wondering, do players on the PS4, Xbox One get to play with PS5 and Xbox Series X? if so that that makes it even worse for EA lol.1 point -

What? I'm a Californian and domestic violence against men absolutely happens. That does not diminish this particular day's importance as most domestic violence is against women. You may soon be able to get new emojis on Android without waiting for system updates
suni08 reacted to Unplugged for a topic
Other apps instead rely on system emojis. All in all I think it's a good move. Thanks god we will have gigabytes of emoji junk in the base OS, that fortunately cannot be skipped or uninstalled, and loads into RAM without asking. So even more gigabytes of flash storage and RAM can be soldered onto the smartphone and tablet motherboards! Given there's only about 3000 odd and each one probably uses only around 1kb (tops) i'm sure mobile phone manufacturers aren't worried about the 3mb of storage just quite yet maybe next year when they add the 4 billion or so gender icons.1 point -
