Another point to consider would be the current popularity of the game. While this doesn't apply to a singleplayer game, if the game is primarily multiplayer then you should look around and see if there are still people playing the game. Servers can be taken offline, or the playerbase can move on to the sequel, potentially crippling the game that you want to buy.4 points -

I'm not usually a Debbie Downer but I'm not expecting much from "Project Latte." There's always a new project every few years. There's been Project Centennial, Project Astoria, Project Islandwood, and probably a few I'm forgetting. Fans get their hopes up assuming that eventually one of these projects will allow UWP/Store apps to gain some traction. Yet here we are years later still waiting for one of these projects to bear fruit. My guess is that Latte will yield an insignificant number of apps and will eventually be forgotten. It's a shame that something like the Pro X is being held back by a lack of native support and instead has to rely on emulation. It would be nice if Microsoft made another push to get native apps in the store instead of emulation or hoping devs adopt their latest project. But that's just wishful thinking on my part.2 points -

Count me in for perhaps being gullible, but not non-technical as such. Un(der)-informed when I feel like it. Actually. The hell with it. I suck from the tit of Apple very hard. However, I am often tired of their "clever" designs on their(Apple's) peripherals such as keyboards, trackpads and mice and even their computers. Both my iMac and my Apple Keyboard with numeric pad has edges so sharp that I've more than once cut open the tip of my index-finger or near sliced open my wrist when reaching for a USB port on the back on my iMac. macOS as such is really what I'm after here as a user. My claim to fame is that I often say that if macOS could run on a piece of used tissue, I would take it. I have more where those came from. Reading about all this for the first time - yes - you've read that right. I of course have second thoughts about using macOS and iOS too. The alternative is no less than awful. What Apple does, I can agree with to a point, I haven't read the Terms of Service on any of the OS X or macOS installations I've done lately. It's not as transparent a text that they would have us all believe. I don't know about Windows 10 and the TOS for that(since I also haven't read that, but have used Windows 10 on occasion), but I would imagine that Windows-users accept a whole lot of things that you or I wouldn't accept going grocery shopping for instance. Same with macOS' TOS. The software that floods the Windows 10 software-market with instructions on how to turn off Windows' telemetry and this and that is evidence on that there's probably something in the Windows 10 operating system that isn't all that good for the end-user. I'm already on the train - so why get off? The next station that can have passengers leaving the train all consists of broken Windows (glass), but of course I'm talking about the operating system by Microsoft. I'll continue to suck off the tit of Apple for a little while longer. I felt triggered by your comment and I perhaps replied in a tone confirming your idea of Apple users as a whole. But if you can, please read my comment as a fun/non-interesting one. I'm only here replying when I feel butt-hurt and I acknowledge that my butt-hole has been expanded so much that it's impossible for me to keep my poop within the comfort of my colon. That's how butt-hurt I am. A sense of humor doesn't hurt. But, being butt-stomped is.. If you know what I mean?! In fact all this friendly banter is all just fun and games. Accept my apology, if you can, for being one of the few resident Mac-users on this forum that is both gullible, un(der)-informed, ill-informed and non-technical and on top of that self-destructive by nature 🤩 I'd love to be a part of this community since I've only been here since 2006 - pleeeeeaaaaseeeeeeeee1 point -

5GHz Wireless Worth It?
Jose_49 reacted to +BudMan for a topic
Yeah iot devices like lightbulbs and smart plugs, and even other stuff that isn't going to be streaming media is most likely going to be 2.4 only.. Here is mine, notice only 9 devices on 5ghz.. And 19 on 2.4.. But if you look at what is on what - my devices that you would need bandwidth are on 5ghz, or devices that are a bit more expensive.. and support 5.. Are on 5.. Phones, ipads, laptops, etc.. alexa's are all on 5.. My thermostat, lightbulbs, harmony hub, etc. Pretty much all on 2.4 because that is all they support. They don't need high bandwidth. But they quite often need range because most home networks have crappy wifi to be honest.. They have 1 wifi router in the corner of their house somewhere.. And well the makers of such devices also save a penny or 2 only having 2.4 support. All of my ssids are both 2.4 and 5.. And have had no issues with cheap iot devices connecting. I have a couple of low end smart plugs.. Control the xmas lights sort of thing.. I had picked up a 2 pack for $30 - like 3 years ago.. Show them on amazon right now for $15 for 2.. That is a good price for sure.. But yeah they only support 2.4, but have had no issues with them.. 3 years and still working If you have devices that have trouble with connecting to a single ssid that is both 2.4 and 5.. Then split that up, say put a _2g and _5g on the end of the ssid. Even if you do not need high bandwidth, if your not using 5, and you have devices that support 5.. Your lowering the 2.4 available bandwidth. Keep in mind wifi is shared.. By not putting your devices that support 5 on 5.. Now if your internet is just utter in the dirt for speed.. 25mbps or something.. And you don't do any local transfers of stuff.. Then guess it doesn't matter all that much. If you have 5ghz capable devices, and they are in range of connecting.. I would not suggest you disable 5ghz just because you have devices that have trouble with the ssid being a combined 1.. Just create a 2.4 ssid, and a 5ghz ssid.. So that you can connect what you want to 2.4 and other devices like your phone and media streamers, etc. can use the 5.. @adrynalyne those are the AP in the area, I thought that was your devices at first - I was going to say wow 109 devices.. I just added 8 new lightbulbs so have gone over the 30 mark when everything connected. But 109 was going to say damn I'm in a single family home with decent amount of distance between homes. But yeah you can pick up a few other wifi networks. So sure interference can be an issue.. But keep in mind many of these could be direct connection... Many a device puts out a direct wifi signal these days. For setup for use - roku wifi remotes for example.. What the concern is signal strength of the stuff that is near by.. So for example here are the strongest signals - that top 1 is my directv box that puts out wifi for its little mini devices. The stb you connect to other tvs in the house.. Its running on odd channel (60) so shouldn't be too much problem for interference on what Im running.. 60 is a DFS channel.. So that is outside the normal 5ghz band used by normal wifi devices.. But those 2nd two are house next to mine.. Running on channel 10 (wtf!) he has wifi router in auto mode be my take. And he is pumping out some power for sure.. But that AP in my guestroom closest to him I run on channel 1, so shouldn't be an issue.. I run all my 2.4 in low power mode, and 5 only at medium.. In general yes should look to see what is around you and plan your channels and power for least amount of interference and overlap.. But I would not suggest turning of 5, if you have devices that support it for sure..1 point -

Huawei is far from the victim figure as he is picturing it to be. they do have a long list of law violations and intellectual property theft from American companies. His own daughter which by the way used to be CFO of the company is arrested in Canada laundering money for terrorist regime in Iran and the language he is speaking doesn’t help his case either. Besides, it’s not that they are the most innovative company on the planet. Show me one product they have that is truly innovative and not a carbon copy of something else1 point -

Tommy Angelo from Mafia (2002). that's my #1 video game experience to date and definitely my favorite leading character in a video game. I replayed it here and there over the years to and it never fails to deliver (most recent replay was Aug 2018). the remake (i.e. Mafia: Definitive Edition (2020)) does not quite capture the full magic of the first game overall (even though it has it's moments etc) as the main characters just ain't as interesting in the remake (even general gameplay is not as enjoyable etc) as they are in the original which I think mostly comes back to the voice acting as Micheal Sorvino's (son of Paul Sorvino as Paul is probably known for Goodfellas (1990) etc)) voice IS Tommy Angelo and even Sam/Paulie are clearly more interesting in the original 2002 game on PC. I would also say Agent 47 from the Hitman video game series is solid. on a side note... what they really needed to do is make a proper movie with this character but have it more in style/tone as The American (2010), which is more of a character study, than just a standard straight forward action movie which is not what this character is about. but for video games in recent memory... Arthur Morgan etc (Sadie Adler (probably my favorite female video game character)) from Red Dead Redemption 2 which I just finished not long ago for the first time. the game is solid at times but I do think things are a bit dragged out which damages the game a bit.1 point -

Except its not. When i moved i flew from ontario to BC and didn't bring anything but clothes with me. Would have cost too much to ship all my stuff. I bought an xbox when i arrived, logged into my account and all 385 of my games were there and ready to play. If i got all my games physical i would have had nothing. The issues with digital only affect people that break the TOS. Don't sell your account and you will be fine. That's all fine and good... as long as you're a model citizen and don't ruffle the Crowns feathers. A company is as good as its reputation... which is why I'm okay playing on Steam... 10+ years and no issues. Sony? Doesn't have a sterling reputation... from root kits on CDs to this - and many stops in between. I'd personally not trust them with my content collection.1 point -

This is definitely how I feel about Elder Scrolls and the Fallout series, which is why some of the cringe main storylines of FO3 and FO4 of "muh dad!" and "muh son!" kinda sucked. Sometimes the best stories are where you get to decide your own priorities of what you care about, along with the priority of others' requests. Boone in New Vegas comes to mind, mostly in the way he's not begging anyone to help him. If you do, so be it... he gets some resolve and will opt to follow you til the end. Really adds replay value when you get to remake some of these decisions too... or when you discover maybe you messed up in how you decided those factors as well.1 point -

what nonsense. especially the laughable "you should feel bad" part. i have used it for a lot of legitimate transactions, you can even pay property taxes with it near to where i live - government is taking it, because they are not stuck in the past. If Bitcoin is the future, then the future is f*cked. Sure, you can use it for a gimmick purchase here and there, but it will never ever EVER be used as a serious payment method because of the awful, and quite frankly, unusable user experience. It's been years since it's been out, and mainstream adoption is basically non-existant. You ever wondered why? It's not because the ominous "they" have something against it, it's because using it sucks balls. Mainly speaking about network congestion, it's literally impossible to use it in market solutions because of this, but chargebacks are also a gigantic issue. What happens when regular Joe adds an extra zero when they're sending a payment, and realizes there is no bank or customer support to call to cancel the transaction? Bitcoin is just a get rich quick scheme. Any positives that it might have, are offset by the carboon footprint it creates. This sh*t is literally destroying the planet because of a bunch of idiots jumping into speculative trading game and thinking they'll make an easy dollar.1 point -

I still don't see Bitcoin being a real currency except outside of maybe failed economies. It's not stable and it's simply really not accepted anywhere especially at physical locations (US). Add it has a higher barrier of entry and requires significant technical knowledge to use. Hell, to really securely store it one has to do it themselves. Bitcoin is being driven mostly by people looking to make money speculating on it. What happens when that dies up? Good luck... We may be using a crypto/digital based money in the future but it will probably be government backed. BTC is only used for drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering and speculative trading. Big number gets clicks, but it's likely less volatile in actual use. As crime organizations self regulate. In the market I watch seemingly stolen CC have always traded around 1btc/20k in CC transactions. The value in use was determined long ago, the value in retail is obviosuly much more volatile so people can play with it to turn a profit. In use it's rarely cashed out.
