But how long can x86 keep you happy if/when apples arm performance continues to increase its lead? You willing to use a pc half as fast? How long will that survive in hpc environments? Apple would become the defacto standard in many markets and uses pushing windows to the margins. If I was after a new laptop (I'm not and would not buy a laptop as I'm heavily in favor of the surface pro form, but I'm a minority) the ideal for me would be an Air running windows. Most people don't care what os they run. They want reliability and performance. Apple offers both.1 point -

Things take time. 8cx is a custom version. It's more aligned with the "Plus" variants. After all, it performs better than vanilla 800 series. Expect it in 6 months or so. Time is something that always harms Microsoft. It did so with the Windows Phone platform, the Surface RT, and now the Surface Pro X. If they really want to push ARM, Microsoft needs a different strategy. When it comes to ARM I've given up on MS... I got burned with WP - as much as I loved the OS, it was NEVER stable (random reboots of both my Lumias were the reason I removed my SIM-PIN!) - and Windows RT - both the Surface RT and the Surface 2 were nice devices, but were dropped almost immediately after release as MS wanted to establish an Apple-esque golden cage instead of leveraging their extensive software library... Looking at WoA: It's underwhelming at best and whilst the Pro X would be a nice secondary device (theoretically doing everything I'd consider essential when on the go [conferences, etc.]), it's simply overpriced for that task... At this point I'm hoping Intel finally fixes its 10nm process/jumps to its 7nm process immediately OR AMD gets to 5nm TSMC soon with MS switching to AMD for their Surface devices...1 point -

Same with Facebook. Where's the dislike button? The positive reinforcement only approach allows hateful comments to breed and validate, and ironically reach the top of the lists based off a hateful minority liking them and the rest of us not being able to down vote.1 point -

So what happens if you're whole family is Hispanic? Like mine... who were all raised Catholic? Like... I feel saying crap like this just comes off toxic and would be the kinda stuff I'd post back in my early college years after watching Zeitgeist lol. Like I don't get how people can be for anti-racism, but also ignore how many minorities/cultures they deliberately smear making comments against religion. It's like "Hey man, I respect all races!" then firing off some anti-muslim or anti-semitic jokes and being like, "Nah bro, it's cool, I'm not a nazi." (legit question, no insinuation; just shower thoughts out loud so to speak) This is a serious question, so I will give it a serious answer: Nothing I said is untrue. While you think you are making a valid equivalency here, you are not. Racism of all kinds is based on lies about "the minority" in a given region. Misogyny is based on lies about the inferiority of women. Homophobia is based on lies about gay men and women. And all religions are based on lies about the imaginary supernatural. What they all have in common is that con-men, liars, and demagogues use fearmongering to extract money, power, and sexual favors from the ignorant, gullible, and vulnerable. The first amendment to the US Constitution ensures everyone's right to believe even in things that are obviously not true, for whatever reason, and even to extoll those things in songs, books, etc. But it also protects everyone's right to criticize, satirize, ridicule, and demonstrate the falsity of those beliefs. The first amendment does not, under any circumstance protect anyone from being offended by what someone else thinks or says. In short, you have no right not to be offended. But we must also make the effort to distinguish culture from beliefs. For example, the Jewish Exodus is now known for a fact to have never happened. That means Moses didn't even exist, proving all of the Abrahamic "holy" books are fictional. As a result, over the past 50 years or so, most Jews have moved on to a more rational understanding of the world when it comes to "spiritual matters", yet they still hold strongly to the stories and traditions of their culture, because that's actually how they define their culture. Like people who dress up as Star Wars characters or in Halloween costumes, that's a matter of culture and tradition that, as we've seen recently in the West, is fortunately becoming less and less entwined with actual belief in ignorant superstitious nonsense. The truth is that I can prove that all races are equally human, men and women are equal as human beings, gay men and women are just people too, and all religions are ignorant superstitious nonsense...whether you like it or not. And you are free to believe otherwise and tell me to ###### off. I'm a huge fan of the first amendment.1 point -

What far left wing terrorists find "offensive" may not be offensive to others or even anyone else at all. No one gets to decide this except the individual. If they see something that makes them cry. Block it and don't read it anymore. People will not accept being punished because someone didn't like their "mean words" in whatever regard they may come. People will say what they want. Obviously, being respectful is the first inclination, but there are people that simply do not deserve it, haven't earned it, won't ever get it. This is probably more about the faux racism, which the worst comes from White Liberals towards other races. Also where it's ok to be racist against white people but not against other races. Free Speech will never be stopped. Big Tech will be splintered into 1000 pieces before that happens.1 point -

Not since the civil war, has any leader in our country (Proud Boys, be ready) riled up the masses in an attempt to point guns at each other. It's still happening now. GOP supporters/leaders in some states wanting to actually kill Americans for not voting for their racist/rapist/pedophile golden lamb. Maybe those that have an IQ shouldn't want to get all caught up in that.. because it's extremely difficult to separate those that don't support racism, and yet vote for someone that has made it clear since his early days of being sued for being a racist landlord. Somebody clearly lets the media do their thinking... The sad part is that it's not the GOP supporters that are rioting and killing each other in the streets... Clearly you don't understand that making blanket statements and insinuations about a group of people is incredibly racist in itself... Use facts next time unless you want to be called out... There's a point where calling a racist, a racist, isn't being racist, it's a fact. Yes, if it's supported by facts. On the contrary, pulling the race card for no reason and making a blanket statement, causes arguably more damage. Those wrongful accusations have diminished the seriousness of the term, and it artificially inflates the problem. That's absolutely not okay... There's a huge difference between actions that are truly racist, and being called a racist just because the other person has no capacity for a discussion. This thread is a prime example of the latter... uh huh. How about this: Most racists are Trump voters. Almost every racist/racist org supports him. Fact. Prove it... In my experience, I see the exact opposite, but I'm not petty enough to make a rash generalization about it. Do you consider BLM and Antifa racist orgs? lol. MS needs to work with ARM to get DX12 support natively in Mali - currently that's the only thing holding back Mediatek, Exynos, Rockchip, etc. from supporting Windows 10, and MS is making a big mistake depending only on Qualcomm and high-end devices for their ARM success. If they can work with OEMs to ship affordable $200-400 devices (mini PCs, netbooks, tablets), maybe offer a 180 days free Office, and make Windows ARM freely installable image- this could help gain a lot of momentum, from both customers & developers. But knowing MS, it's obvious they're too blind to do this, and too enthusiastic about delivering too little at too high prices and disappointing the public, and then abandoning the project 3 years down the line crying 'we did everything right, we don't know what went wrong'.1 point -

What victim complex, it's reality. Some of the stuff the blue check marks say about people is vile and disgusting, sometimes racist. An example, some of the things the Iranian government figures say about Israel, no consequences, but if Trump says something, then it's orange man bad. I'm not an engineer so I'm regurgitating what others have said, but the AWS engineer didn't actually get Windows 10 on the M1. He got it to boot in a VM and was able to run some specific benchmarks that run native on ARM. He did not get any Windows drivers to load, was unable to take advantage of the GPU, and could not get any Windows programs to run outside of the benchmarks. From what I can tell he definitely got something to run but wasn't able to take full advantage of the hardware. But again, I'm merely repeating what smarter people have said. That said, the SQ1/2 basically launched outdated. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the M1 is significantly faster.1 point -

For the people that care about ARM on the desktop (and Windows) Qualcomm really does need to step up. They need their next gen ARM SoC out ASAP if they are going to compete with Apple on the desktop. Microsoft must be concerned since the Mac M1 laptops came out unless they don't really see ARM as the future on the desktop but more a niche platform.1 point -
