How to install and use Neofetch on desktop and mobile

I'm afraid not; Windows 10 does not have "Aero". Aero was the codename for Microsoft's design language for Windows 7; it was replaced by Metro in Windows 8, and with Fluent in Windows 10. Someone on Wikipedia, by mistake, has listed Aero, Metro, and Fluent as Windows desktop environments. (Like most wrong info on Wikipedia, this wrong assertion does not cite a source.) The desktop environment on Windows has always been Windows Shell. You can look it up on Microsoft Docs. Edit: The entry point of Windows Shell is explorer.exe.3 points -

Why are you upping the CPU and downgrading the GPU and RAM? (I know, you can change it, but still) I'd stay with what you have. I mean, your current computer can run everything, right? Unless there is a need/reason to upgrade. If it is in your possession, it isn't new. Think the term is actually like-new. Is it worth $1000? I'd say no. I think the 10 series use a new chipset/socket, and new RAM. (IIRC) I'd pass until you "really" need it.2 points -

If YouTube allowed the downvote button to actually be used, and comment aggregation based off of that, this problem would correct itself for the most part, anything left over could then be moderated by YouTube. Same with Facebook. Where's the dislike button? The positive reinforcement only approach allows hateful comments to breed and validate, and ironically reach the top of the lists based off a hateful minority liking them and the rest of us not being able to down vote.2 points -

I guess much depends on why you're thinking of getting a new computer. Is it just because a certain amount of time has transpired and so you feel you need to 'upgrade', you have money that you have nothing else to spend on, or you genuinely need an upgrade for whatever it is your working on because you've noticed a laginess recently in your current system. Frankly, your system is in a higher speed bracket than mine, and I'm not thinking of upgrading. I recently got an extra 16 GB of RAM (total of 32 now), and recently upgraded my video card. The CPU is the least thing you need to upgrade frankly; it spends most of its time doing literally nothing in your computer. So I would say no, it's not worth forking out $1,000 for something that will literally have no effect on your performance. I would upgrade the smaller SSD boot drive, or get a larger HDD for storage. The i7-6700 is a multi-core processor. Frankly, your video card is better than the one I upgraded to as well.1 point -

Edit: The entry point of Windows Shell is explorer.exe. You are absolutely correct. I just want to add to what you said. We have the Windows shell, as you mentioned, but we also have DWM (Desktop Window Manager), which to make the matter more confusing was ALSO branded as part of the Windows Aero experience. So BOTH the transparent “Glass” UI was a “Part” of Aero, called “Aero Glass”. DWM was the other big part of Aero, which included features such as taskbar preview thumbnails, alt tab live preview, Aero Peek, Aero Snap, Flip 3D. So because of broad range of things the Aero branding covered, it can create quite a bit of misunderstanding for the general public when we Say Aero had been removed with Windows 8 and later. We should clarify that AERO GLASS, only a small portion of Windows Aero was gone. EVERY other Windows Aero UI components not only remain, but have greatly improved: Such as Aero snap/peek, Live preview, Flip 3D has evolved into Task View with Virtual desktop support, making the feature ACTUALLY USEFUL and not just a gimmick. So, Aero Glass and the Aero name is gone, but Windows Aero never went anywhere. And with the return of blur transparency in UI elements like taskbar and start menu, Aero Glass’s spiritual successor still lives on. P.S. I miss the Aero glass title bars, and tragically their BEST rendition of Aero Glass was THIS CLOSE to becoming publicly available. It was in Windows 8 release preview and my was it GORGEOUS. It found the PERFECT balance between flat and Aero glass design. A part of me will always weep for that not seeing the light of day. 🙁 If you check line 1733 it looks like he has tried to get it to detect Windows 10, 8, and 7 and report the correct DE but it doesn't seem to be working properly. https://github.com/dylanaraps/.../blob/master/neofetch#L17331 point -

Looking back at the 3DS: Nintendo's pillar in the early 2010s
astropheed reacted to +InsaneNutter for a topic
I do agree the homebrew community did a lot for the 3DS which made it in to a must own console for me. In regards to Pokemon, Nintendo did actually fix the original GameBoy games up pretty well. You can trade over wireless on the 3DS with the games, for the Gen 2 games they even emulated the IR functionality so you could mystery gift. That's something I don't think any emulators on the PC actually support. In addition they added Poke Transporter support allowing for you to trade Pokemon up to Gen 7 and beyond. The Celebi event was also unlocked after beating the Elite Four on Crystal so theirs a legitimate way to shiny hunt Celebi, I didn't mind paying £6-7 for these as it was the definitive way to play them in my opinion and I more than got my moneys worth with the amount of time I spent re-playing them. I do however agree Ultra Sun / Moon was a total cash grab, that shouldn't have happened and simply been a DLC for the little content that actually got added. The intro was also far too long, certainly the Sun and Moon games we're my least favourite in the franchise. I didn't feel the second screen really did much compared to the Gen 6 games either. In comparison X / Y & Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire are the games which got me back in to the Pokémon franchise enough for me to go back and play Black & White which I also really enjoyed. I do think the Pokemon games peaked with Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire, however I have enjoyed Sword and Shield on the Switch, minus not all of the Pokemon been available. In some ways it's kind of ironic the main feature of the 3DS, the 3D, is probably the feature most people used the least. All in all for a console I initially had little interest in the 3DS turned out to be one of my favourite hand held consoles of all time.1 point -

The Shroud of Turin was proved to be a medieval fake painted on cloth by science decades ago. Additionally, it was even reported by the pope's own bishop in 1390 as a scam forgery sold to a rich sucker in the middle ages when it was painted. Science has confirmed this assessment by dating the pigments, etc. There is no doubt about this. Even today's POPE doesn't make any such claims about ANY relics anymore...not since the invention of carbon dating...ahem. http://www.independent.co.uk/n...ting-debunked-a8450101.html Nothing you listed has been verified with testable evidence under repeatable scientific scrutiny. Things take time. 8cx is a custom version. It's more aligned with the "Plus" variants. After all, it performs better than vanilla 800 series. Expect it in 6 months or so. Time is something that always harms Microsoft. It did so with the Windows Phone platform, the Surface RT, and now the Surface Pro X. If they really want to push ARM, Microsoft needs a different strategy. When it comes to ARM I've given up on MS... I got burned with WP - as much as I loved the OS, it was NEVER stable (random reboots of both my Lumias were the reason I removed my SIM-PIN!) - and Windows RT - both the Surface RT and the Surface 2 were nice devices, but were dropped almost immediately after release as MS wanted to establish an Apple-esque golden cage instead of leveraging their extensive software library... Looking at WoA: It's underwhelming at best and whilst the Pro X would be a nice secondary device (theoretically doing everything I'd consider essential when on the go [conferences, etc.]), it's simply overpriced for that task... At this point I'm hoping Intel finally fixes its 10nm process/jumps to its 7nm process immediately OR AMD gets to 5nm TSMC soon with MS switching to AMD for their Surface devices...1 point -

Google now lets anyone capture and share Street View imagery
darkpuma reacted to indospot for a topic
Well, the app seems to record as you move and tie images to your location, so you'd likely have to be creating obscene imagery in public to be able to submit. I also assume that if Google can automatically adjust the position and location of images, they can detect inappropriate images and block them. I was thinking less extreme, and harder to detect automatically. Like posting signs with inappropriate messages, ads, etc. When you give that kind of power to people you can pretty much guarantee they'll find a way to abuse it. A random / stupid example. Lets say you have a crazy ex. What's to stop them from doing a streetview shot holding a big sign in front of your house with a bunch of personal info about you? Well, now that you mention it, I do hope there's some review process in place. I also hope no one is crazy enough to do what you exemplified lol1 point -

Microsoft has had unbelievable success with Windows on x86 - something that no other company has had. Microsoft doesn't have to do everything Apple does (even though they themselves try to).🤦🏻♂️ I am very happy with Windows on x86 - it is AMAZING and it's given me decades of delightful computing experience. I never bought a Mac or iPhone, iPad (even though I've tried and used them) because I loathe Apple products for what they really are - very restrictive and limited, proprietary, vertically integrated ecosystem. Windows stands for everything they aren't. It always does a lot more - more customization, more options for everything, more versatile, more open. With compatibility being the core advantage of Windows, moving to Arm for battery life will remain a niche market for quite some time. They will have parallel codebases and see what platform offers the best advantages. Right now, it's not Arm for Windows.1 point -

MS needs to work with ARM to get DX12 support natively in Mali - currently that's the only thing holding back Mediatek, Exynos, Rockchip, etc. from supporting Windows 10, and MS is making a big mistake depending only on Qualcomm and high-end devices for their ARM success. If they can work with OEMs to ship affordable $200-400 devices (mini PCs, netbooks, tablets), maybe offer a 180 days free Office, and make Windows ARM freely installable image- this could help gain a lot of momentum, from both customers & developers. But knowing MS, it's obvious they're too blind to do this, and too enthusiastic about delivering too little at too high prices and disappointing the public, and then abandoning the project 3 years down the line crying 'we did everything right, we don't know what went wrong'.1 point -

I just cataloged my entire system32 folder in 1 blink of my eye. No seriously, it was that fast. I was going to count it, but I hit go, and it was done. This is of course on a nvme drive but still. So then I thought well how about my entire C drive. It cataloged the entire C drive in 9.25 seconds. Searching the database is instant. Microsoft needs to hire this person. You can have an unlimited amount of catalogs. It can be run without installation or over a VPN without issue. Try it. It's very neat here is me searching the data base for sys files.1 point -
