  1. How the heck did they come up with that pricing? The best over-ears on the market (Sony and Bose) are $300 or less.

  3. Apple introduces AirPods Max, its first over-ear headphones, for $549

Apple or no Apple... $500 bucks for an accesory?? I'm a tech guy sure...but come on, I think so many (expensive) devices is as addictive as crack. You have to start thinking what you can do with those $500. I'm not talking about feeding the hunger Africa (oh how I hate that comparission). But for $500 you can start your own business, you can start saving for something bigger (obviouslly in the long run). Can't blame the companies, it's the buyer who ironically follows the game. In the end anyone can buy whatever they want, it's a free world! Just some thought on the consequence of actually paying so much "for just an accesory". Might as well pay $500 for a surround system that will last you 10+ years, not just accesory.

  6. WinRAR 6.00

Yeah they should re-write the UI in Electron so the UI can looks like a web app, have tons of jarring transition animations and increase the install size from 3mb to 80mb. That'd be way better.

  7. Anyone can now contribute to Google's Fuchsia OS

This project is very different than those, first the main focus is less of a new run-time and more of new kernel. The current android kernel is very inefficient for concurrent connections and real-time communications on mobile device (as you can see by heavy memory usage, it was designed for desktop and not mobiles). With this they have build new kernel from pretty much scratch(if memory serves correctly 'zircon kernel' which is designed from ground up for less memory usage and faster concurrent connections). It does run android apps (ART runtime), so i don't see how this can be a bad thing to happen.

companies/developers have far more confidence in Apple's ventures than Microsoft's. Still waiting to MS to themselves show proper enthusiasm for their own platforms.

Yeah it does feel a bit strange compared to what I'm used to but I imagine it's like the cursor speed, eventually you get used to it. FWIW I'd probably use Vivaldi as my main browser if Firefox didn't exist.

  22. WhatsApp is adding a shopping cart to its mobile apps

Except this is only with businesses that are also on Whatsapp. And I mean, why the hell not? I have no desire to shop via my IM app nor use Facebook products. I hear lot of 'I' in that sentence, tbh it's better to use whatsapp over imessage so people are not just stuck with iPhones like in USA. I personally like telegram better though : ) That would be because I am talking about myself... It's not nice to speak for others. i am in the USA and don't have an iPhone LOL (but a better option than Facebook anything). I do use Telegram with some contacts.

  26. PC Build Guide: Budget Intel 10th-gen PC for less than $550

The Intel UHD 630 can do basic graphics processing, and a GPU does not really make sense in such a budget setting, especially for the use case. Of course, you can beef up your system with a GPU suggestion from our other gaming build guide, if you're interested. https://www.neowin.net/news/pc...dget-gaming-for-around-1000

  27. Adobe Lightroom is now available for ARM-based PCs

Just curious, what would you consider "proper enthusiasm"? But I can understand from a developer's perspective there is a sizable difference between Apple transitioning their entire product line to ARM vs Microsoft releasing a version of Windows that runs on ARM. It's not like they're going to drop x86/x64 support like Apple eventually will. But if Apple's venture has the side effect of developers also being more willing to support ARM on windows as the article suggests, I'll take it. Yeah, there's a clear difference here, Apple is going all in on ARM so they can max their margins even more and not have to pay Intel for x86 chips and parts anymore. This really is going to have the added benefit of bringing more apps to ARM and they'll be supported on Windows to. So MS gains from Apples shift in the end. Only thing is that the PC ARM chips need to step up, these overclocked mobile parts aren't cutting it going forward.

  30. Oh dears, another Apple CPU that runs Windows 10 faster than the Surface Pro X. How embarrassing! Yeah, it really just shows how behind Qualcomm is with it's chips compared to the M1 at this point. I was actually being somewhat sarcastic; should have put a /s. Though it is true, I agree with your original comment that Microsoft is doing the best they can with what's available. The Pro X is actually a nice machine for what it is designed to be, even if the M1 SoC is faster/better etc.

  41. Apple's entry-level M1 is outperforming most laptop chips and even many desktop chips out there right now. This has more to do with Apple's architecture design than the ARM instruction set. However, it (along with some other custom ARM-based chips used in super computers, such as Fujitsu's A64FX) does show that there is nothing inherent to the ARM instructions set that prevents them from using in high-performance settings. The issue is that the reference designs provided by ARM (and built upon by Qualcomm and Samsung) have thus far only targeted mobile solutions with less emphasis on performance (their Cortex X1 is changing that to a certain degree though, but it still pales in comparison to what Apple has put out) so those that do want performance ARM-based chips have to go and design it themselves.

why Chinese / no name brand? do you have a budget you're working with? as others have said FitBit would probably meet your needs perfectly and isn't too pricy IMO. As an owner of a FitBit Versa 3 myself I can attest it is a great simple smart watch for its price range. I get all the tracking that you listed as well as notifications from my phone and music control and a few other nice features.
