  1. YouTube starts removing videos claiming Trump won the election

Does this just apply to claiming Trump won? I am about to post a video claiming I won the 2020 Presidential Election and to ask for money for my "legal battles" to see how many suckers I can get.

Such a ######ing ignorant opinion. If you only realized how intertwined the US government and the tech sector really are and how the private company takes marching orders from the Fed to keep lucrative contracts, your position may change, but I doubt that. Doesn't really change the fact that it's still a private company that can do as they please.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom of the consequences of the said speech. That will be sued into oblivion pretty quick. That's why you have to move it out the country. That's not how things like these work, because they need ads to survive, they need local server agreements and a shitload of other stuff. Else you get stuck with a site full of porn ads and/or that takes more to load a page than a dial-up connection.

Actually, YT may allow the unicorn urine video before the Trump has won the election video given the unicorn being real has more credibility than the Trump election victory. 😂

  17. It already looks way better from the above screenshots IMO. I'm not short on things to play, so let them take their time. Anyone complaining about the delay needs to calm down and find something else to do/play. It's not like there's a shortage of games out, or coming out. Cyberpunk was in the works for 9 years, iirc, if Halo Infinite is good in the end, I don't care if it takes an extra year.

This is funny. We have already seen this play just recently. Parlor for example, along with a couple of other projects. They were all 'free speech' do anything you want BS, and then found they were having to censor child porn, groups inciting violence, and straight up Nazi era BS, that even freaked out their 'right wing' BS. I say everyone should do this, fund raise, people will give money, and then maybe everyone that pulls this crap will realize things are not as simple as just 'free market of ideas' and 'free speech' and 'markets rule' - Which is ironic, as they SELDOM actually do. "A progressive is a right wing libertarian that got a chance to test some of their ideas and watch things go horribly wrong." - ME

The trick to getting unfettered support, make the GOP the same deal Trump made and give them a chunk of your donations. In the first week, the GOP were not supportive of Trump's claim's, then Trump's people changed the donation structure to give the GOP 30=40% of donations for fighting the results. Bingo, nearly all GOP members then questioned the results and supported Trump's crazy efforts. Never say the GOP don't have principles, they can still be bought.

  29. "Starting next year, extensions will only be granted permission to access data on a per-domain basis. There will still be the option to grant access to all website data, but that won't be the default." So if I'm understanding that right, ad-blockers will have to prompt you once per domain to function? Haha, yes, clearly this is all about making the browser more secure... said no one ever. And I'll bet the 'allow on all domains' option is made very hard to enable

  30. Bit of an odd thing to bring up? Anyone can walk into a PC shop and buy a PC, or GPU or CPU, no clearance needed, no description needed. Likewise anyone can setup a company and buy those parts. Not really the kind of thing a manufacturer of PC components who sells wholesale to distributors and shops has any idea about.

BHUAHUAHUAHUAHAUHA thanks for the joke of the week... when you'll buy them don't forget to show off the fashion shiny bitten apple logo From the pictures, it doesn't look like there's an Apple logo on them. 33. Anyone can now contribute to Google's Fuchsia OS

This project is very different than those, first the main focus is less of a new run-time and more of new kernel. The current android kernel is very inefficient for concurrent connections and real-time communications on mobile device (as you can see by heavy memory usage, it was designed for desktop and not mobiles). With this they have build new kernel from pretty much scratch(if memory serves correctly 'zircon kernel' which is designed from ground up for less memory usage and faster concurrent connections). It does run android apps (ART runtime), so i don't see how this can be a bad thing to happen.

  40. Windows 10X; where are we now?

It sounds like MS isn't going to make big news out of this first release of 10X since it's missing the Win32 support that's coming later. You're also only going to get it with new systems from what I've read, doubt there's going to be a 10 to 10X upgrade option, for now anyways. I think they're putting more work into the UI updates and probably looking to match 10 and 10X more where it makes sense to so the shells aren't too drastically different between the two.

  41. Facebook designates $150 million to build low-income housing

150 million in silicone valley? so like 30 total houses? Have you seen property prices there?! $75k per house down there is like a shack in a 1000 sq ft lot (if your lucky to find a cheap lot)... I know it covers 2k houses but there is no way with the property prices there unless they are building in areas no one wants unless that's $1b for 2,000 houses which is more realistic there at 500k per house When you pay 1 million+ for a 1000 sq ft house the property is overvalued.....

Agree - not sure why Windows is one of the last platforms getting this. It should've been the first, as it is widely accessible to the most amount of people. Anyways, can't wait to have both iOS and Windows!

  43. I don't think they said 5 won't come to PC at all, have they? 4 hasn't been out for too long, I think we could get 5 early next year so that they have something for us in the first half of 2021. Then infinite lands in the second half of the year. Every article I've looked up states "we have no plans to bring Halo 5 to PC at this time" so it's not looking good for the near future at least. They're probably still managing to make money off of 5 as is I guess? I think it makes sense to release it next year though, to keep Halo in the news before they can get the infinite hype train going.

  44. Google's Pixel 2 series is officially no longer supported

The three year updates were a game changer when Google first announced that all those years ago. Anything was from the previously unreliable updates from basically any manufacture, and even Google's Nexus line of devices. We now have many devices receiving at least a few years worth of updates which is great. But it's time Google stepped it up a notch, and have 5 years worth of updates to compete with Apple (especially in the corporate space). It's needed as consumers are now looking for a more future proof device, rather than constantly looking to upgrade with high end features. With a battery that may actually last more than 3 years in those phones now, it's worth a shot. They'll be forced to up their support cycle in time, like you said, people are looking to hold on to their phones longer. I bet many people will just get the last update and keep using it for some time after that without much thought. The smartphone market has peaked IMO, OEMs are scrambling to find the next thing to draw new sales (more cameras, folding screens), it's like the PC market before it. People are keeping these things for more than what the support cycle lasts for. Back in the start, 2 years was fine because everyone had more of a reason to upgrade, the hardware improvements were worth it more then. Not anymore.

  46. Anyone can now contribute to Google's Fuchsia OS

They are talking about sharing core technologies like the kernel, common software components, drivers, display system etc (which is essentially what Fuchsia is). That is not where Microsoft and Apple got it wrong. For Microsoft, the NT kernel along with many common Windows components power a multitude of different devices (Xbox, hololens, PC, servers). Similarly, Apple's Darwin (which includes the kernel and aspect of FreeBSD's user land) are at the core of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, AudioOS, and WatchOS (and iOS and iPadOS despite the different brand are very much still connected to one another; you write programs for both through UIKit or SwiftUI). Even Android's underpinnings and core technologies are shared between Android phones, Android/Google TV, Google's cast platform, various Nest devices, etc. There is no sense in not reusing general purpose kernel and components. Imagine having to create and maintain a separate kernel, driver foundations and software stacks for every different hardware product that comes out. It would be a massive waste of resources. Also, as far as having common higher level APIs that allow for the creation of a single app that runs across multiple platforms (Fuschsia describes a low level system, with few higher level components), yes it is true that Microsoft has not done well delivering that with UWP (though that has more to do with their execution of UWP and getting devs to migrate to it). Apple is currently seeing somewhat more success with Mac Catalyst and to a lesser degree allowing iOS/iPadOS apps to directly run on macOS (although Catalyst still needs more work it is a decent solution, but directly running iOS and iPadOS apps on Macs is a far worse proposition from first hand experience) and they have their own declarative API called SwiftUI which runs on iOS/iPadOS/macOS/WatchOS but is too young to really judge it at this point. But certainly it is possible that a company could go beyond what Microsoft has done and build UI APIs that allow for a single app codebase to target and adapt to different form factors; they just have to put enough care to ensure the APIs are powerful and mature (which takes time) and that developers are actually adopting them.

  48. Apple introduces AirPods Max, its first over-ear headphones, for $549

Apple or no Apple... $500 bucks for an accesory?? I'm a tech guy sure...but come on, I think so many (expensive) devices is as addictive as crack. You have to start thinking what you can do with those $500. I'm not talking about feeding the hunger Africa (oh how I hate that comparission). But for $500 you can start your own business, you can start saving for something bigger (obviouslly in the long run). Can't blame the companies, it's the buyer who ironically follows the game. In the end anyone can buy whatever they want, it's a free world! Just some thought on the consequence of actually paying so much "for just an accesory". Might as well pay $500 for a surround system that will last you 10+ years, not just accesory.

  49. I am guessing you are assuming removing legacy components in Windows 10 would make it perform better? And it has. Especially when looking at battery life. See: RT/Mobile. How do components doing nothing use any significant battery? That is Windows running on ARM... How are we comparing that to Windows 10 x86?

No, installing an SDD would be an actual upgrade to your current system and cost less. The only reason to go for a new system is you want to upgrade to an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU.
