It is so Bill Gates can make sure the tracking chips is in it, Just in case people take that seriously, I was only joking. I love jokes. But let's be clear here, Bill Gates want to track your ass. That's a fact. Whether that tracking capability will be in the vaccine itself is just an immaterial distraction to the real thing that should be scaring everybody who loves freedom. And that's the fact that they (Bill Gates and other rich Billionaires) want to start tracking your ass from the cradle to the grave under the premise of protecting the world from a virus that kills "virtually"..."VIRTUALLY" nobody. To say it another way, the case fatality rate is so ridiculously low for this virus that it boggles my mind why it has gotten so much over-hyped, over-exaggerated attention other than because that's what they wanted. Condition the masses to fear a virus for months and months so that they beg you for a vaccine when you release it. https://www.armstrongeconomics...ntum-dots-to-mark-children/ How do I insert hyperlinks? "OMG, he just said COVID-19 doesn't kill anybody. I'm gonna crap my britches from the horror". No, that's not what I said. Go back and read it again. I have never facepalmed this hard before.3 points -
How to backup your files and reinstall Windows 10 with recovery media
RandPC and 2 others reacted to Fleet Command for a topic
I strongly advise against using built-in Windows components to create backup copies. Windows has never been good in that department. As a rule of thumb, don't use any backup solution that saves its backups in ZIP files. There are several free backup solutions I can advise: Macrium Reflect or Veeam Agent Free edition. Of course, Lifewire has listed 34 choices.3 points -

If I'm gonna spend $2,500 on a laptop, it's gotta have dedicated graphics. Hell, even a $2,400 Macbook Pro has dedicated GPU. 2 in 1 form factors though, you can pick up a Lenovo with twice the storage SSD, 4K screen, and dedicated GTX 1650 for about $1000 less. Maybe the appeal here is just lost on me though. I own an x360 too at least, though I liked my Yoga back in the day more despite the minor issues I had with it (was back before Win10 was a thing).2 points -

+Warwagon reacted to adrynalyne for a question
If reinstalling Windows is already on the table, might as well try restoring to a previous time first. If you do an in place upgrade or reinstall, and it’s a registry issue, you just made it a permanent fixture and it likely will not fix the problem. An in place upgrade deletes all restore points.1 point -

Steven P. reacted to Cyber Akuma for a topic
Yeah, but to be fair I kind of HOPE it's the PSU. If the PSU went bad that's not too much trouble to fix. Yeah, I would have to re-apply about a hundred wires, but at least it will just run like normal again (though I am a little worried about my RAID since I reset my CMOS, hopefully it can still work) but if it's not the PSU then replacing the motherboard is going to be a LOT of work and less likely for my RAID to be safe.1 point -

Surface Laptop Go gets its first firmware update, improving Windows Hello
freedonX reacted to Figure 8 Dash for a topic
How so? I'm wondering the long term of it? opposed to a surface laptop (non-go). There is the 'basic' version Surface Laptop. I don't understand the Go Laptop market We got the 128GB model for staff members. The build quality with the price makes for a really nice device despite the screen resolution (which looks better in person than I thought it would). The i5/SSD is fast enough, there's no bloat, and the keyboard is excellent. Thus far they've been a solid choice for just a basic, no frills, laptop for staff to carry out some basic duties. But we also got several of the 64GB models for public use. Same deal, excellent build quality and the specs are more than enough for their intended use.1 point -

Human Rights organizations are fronts for neoliberal fascist imperialism. It's funny how the US is currently bombing seven majority Muslim nations but somehow you care about the ones in China. Weird isn't it. China's minimum wage has tripled in the last thirty years. Meanwhile stateside.... Pretty sure I'm against wars overseas too so no idea what you're talking about. And when does that ever justify what China is doing? You've made no secret your love for China, something that isn't even shared by the territories of China for that matter. You're welcome to take your red flag elsewhere, I'm not buying the nonsense you're selling. Stay willfully ignorant my friend. Yeah buddy, everyone's wrong but you, and I'm the ignorant one. Keep dreaming. The guys seems to be an Anti-westerner. I just figured out that (as must as I tried to) I can't reason with the guy. He's useless and too far gone.1 point -
PC Build Guide: Budget Intel 10th-gen PC for less than $550
+Dick Montage reacted to samw61 for a topic
I'm no gamer so I can't speak for that user case, however integrated graphic in a i5 4th gen U processor surprised me and has kept up with my needs. The surprising part was I was able to use a 4k monitor with this machine, albeit at 30Hz (which for Photoshop work was perfectly fine). They've since got much better, and desktop processors have more grunt than many of the laptop varieties, so it's good to see that they will do in a pinch, with scope to upgrade to a dedicated GPU down the track.1 point -
Intel graphics driver version 27.20.100.9030 improves Fortnite performance

Strange, this version is not listed when you go to Intel: Support: Downloads: Graphics. The current "production" driver is 27.20.100.8935 dated 11/6. There is also a 27.20.100.9077 version listed as BETA dated 12/9/2020. Seems like Intel needs to keep better track of their website..........1 point -

Windows on ARM PCs can now run x64 apps on the Insider Program
SoLiD_MasteR reacted to domboy for a topic
Does Rosseta run well because M1 is so powerfull or because Apple optimised it? Various benchmarks i saw rosseta can have perfomance penalty up to 50%, do Windows on Arm have same perfomance penalty? I’ve read an article that Rosetta 2 isn’t only software emulation, they have some kind of x86 compatibility instructions in the M1 SoC. If it's true they have some sort of x86 compatibility instructions in the M1, then back to bobsled's statement you really can't criticize the performance of Microsoft's software-only translation layer compared to a translation layer dependent on a hardware accelerator for at least some of its performance. Of course, I've heard rumors Microsoft wanted to do something similar but couldn't for x86 licensing restriction reasons, so I would wonder how Apple would be able to. No idea if either are true...1 point -

Don’t assign admin rights to your primary user account. Create a separate admin account and use only as required. Nobody should have admin rights on their every day user account in 2020 IMO. Another good tip for sysadmins is to use a software restriction policy to block the execution of exe, rar, cab among others in the %temp% folder as well as within nested folders in that folder.1 point -

Worse than that, the date that matters is the date the successor, Pixel 3, was released. In other words, people were still buying new Pixel 2s up to at least October 2018 when they were still the latest model. Those devices are barely 2 years old. Yep, if they are doing 3 years it should be 3 years since last sale.1 point -

The Intel UHD 630 can do basic graphics processing, and a GPU does not really make sense in such a budget setting, especially for the use case.
