Talk about 'clickbait' A whole 6fps and we don't even know whether the same brand of graphics card was used, with which drivers etc etc. Perhaps the word 'demolishes' is a bit OTT. Equally, the CPU isn't even available yet. No mention of cost comparison either (because it's all clickbait). This is 5 mins of my life I'll never get back.10 points -

Unpopular opinion but I don't know what people with 6-7 years old consoles really were expecting, for CD Project to dumb down the game so they could run it? No. That way we are never going anywhere if constantly catering for everyone... It's not much different like wanting the latest exiting car or phone, either you are willing the shell out the money or not, if not, then you have the right to shut up and move on... I mean with my own mediocre PC and RTX2060 gpu the game runs 45-50 FPS with Raytracing but you cannot realistically expect performance on 6-7 years old hardware, fact.5 points -

MTU size on router... change?
The Dark Knight and 2 others reacted to +BudMan for a topic
And what article/proof was this that changing your mtu would change your speed from 150 to 450? Seems really unlikely unless your mtu was set way to low to begin with.. For example if you were using a mtu of 576 (very lowest normally) and you went to 1500 (normal standard mtu) Do the math to what your MTU could do.. (MSS/RTT)*(C/sqrt(Loss)) [ C=1 ] So with the standard MTU and a 80ms RTT without any loss your max would be 1460.00 Mbit/sec. With even a very low mtu say 576, and same 80ms RTT your max would be 536.00 Mbit/sec. So while sure MTU could and can affect your speed. I find it highly unlikely that a change would give you any such speed boost.. There are many factors that could effect your overall speed.. The mtu should normally be set at standard 1500 and Path discovery would adjust this down to prevent fragmentation for any given conversation between source IP and dest IP across the internet. Now if your using some other form of connection.. PPPoe for example, or your over a vpn of some sort then the correct mtu would be less than the standard 1500 ethernet size.. But I really do not see adjusting accounting for such a boost in performance.3 points -

While I agree with your sentiment the fault lies 100 percent with the developers and management. If the hardware cannot run it, you should not release it on that platform. The end. And you certainly don't cover it up with weird embargos and takedowns until the second it launches to secure pre-orders. Even though the vocabulary is undoubtedly exaggerated, you're not proving that by pointing to "a whole 6fps". If the other system was scoring 6 fps, then an additional 6 fps would double the score and justify the title. Just speak in percentage, it makes more sense. You don't even have to calculate it, the article gives it: 10.5%2 points -

I am thinking you might not understand what a hex editor is, or have some illusion of what machine code is and is not. How about we call it a binary editor? or a Decimal editor? Low level editors are essential to any power users toolbox, even if you don't trust a simple edit provided by other users. How does any of that imply they don't know what a hex editor is?2 points -

Discuss: Who is your favorite video game villain?
hellowalkman and one other reacted to Fleet Command for a topic
1. Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII: Smart and powerful make a frightening combination. He was the first Jenova didn't control; seeing his potential and ambition, Jenova willfully relinquished her power to him. Despite his massive combat skills, he was never in a hurry to go toe-to-toe with Cloud Strife. (That was the right decision too, seeing how Cloud Strife has consistently defeated him in all direct encounters.) 2. Ultimecia from Final Fantasy VIII: Maybe this is the only likable thing in that game. "Time shall be compressed, all existence denied!" In comparison to this dark sorceress, Lord Voldemort looks like a muggle. 3. Vergil from Devil May Cry series: He was bland and run of the mill, but he had style. Remember, style is the one thing that makes Homeworld stand out. Anyway, I think in combat with Sephiroth, he wins. 4. Killian Qatar from Command & Conquer 3: She has the mindset and making of a supervillain. Unlike Kane, she was actually believable. Joseph D. Kucan stole her show. 5. Akula from Ace Combat: Assault Horizon: He was a nobody with no agenda. He could never win. But he was a dangerous nobody; vengeance was his mean of sustenance. The only question was: Will he meets his end at the hands of Colonel Bishop, or will he lose by slamming his plane into the White House. He was a manifestation of the fact that in war, we cannot choose our allies. 6. Meredith from Dragon Age 2: She was a good person at the beginning. Sure, she was not an easy taskmaster but hers was not an easy task. She made the biggest mistake of her life when she became complacent: She fashioned a sword from a Lyrium idol. That became her undoing. 7. Mona Sax from Max Payne series: She could compartmentalize her feelings and that's what made her the perfect hitwoman. She hoodwinked Max Payne and Vladimir Lem several times. She had feelings though. And to be fair, Max is a complete idiot. 8. Rainmaker from Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.2 (Wii version): A farcically overdone version of all supervillains in American TV, he was fun, and an over-exaggeration of all supervillains who have unlimited time, power, and money, but don't know what to do with them. 9. Sadista from Torchlight III: She has funny quips. That's all. Fun is one reason we play video games. EDIT: I've never player Portal, but GlaDOS may have been on my list. CDPR went in my book from one of the most respected devs out there to most shady developer in gaming. Seems a bit harsh. Not sure what you think of other things in life, including other games developers, that have let people down in way worse manners and many more times. For me this is on the same level of lootbox fiasco with Battlefront 2 that was the start what changed the whole industry away from lootboxes. I think this games has pushed the limit in how far you can go with deceitful marketing + launch a broken product on the biggest install base. Sony / Microsoft usually don’t offer refunds easily. For most of my gamer friends this game turned about to be the biggest disappointment they ever had in a game after 8 years of hype train. Luckily a lot of people are refunding and their stock price is crashing by 30 - 35 percent since release. That is the best lesson for such bad management1 point -

Questions about shifting Windows 10 to a New SSD without reinstalling OS.
Ve7878 reacted to +Warwagon for a topic
If you install windows to an SSD and clone it to an HDD, it will run like total crap (even worse than just clean installing to an HDD) and if you open "defragment and optimize drives " will still say you are running an SSD. If you do a winsat formal from the command prompt, it re-benchmarks the system and configures itself properly now for an HDD instead of an SSD. if you reopen "defragment and optimize drives " it will now say HDD instead of SSD. After a few reboots, it runs just like HDD clean install. (Probably after it gets the prefetch reconfigured) Same works both ways I think. Personally I like True Image, not because Macromedia Reflect is bad but because Macromedia Reflects source and destination menu freaks me out. I find True Image to be MUCH simpler. With Macromedia Reflect I'm always terrified I'm going to nuke the wrong drive. True Image Macromedia Reflect1 point -

Alleged Intel Rocket Lake Core i9-11900K outperforms Ryzen 9 5950X in leaked Ashes benchmark
Wam7 reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
6fps in this benchmark could have been significant... However, this score can be bested by the 5950X, 5900X, and 5800X - the only 5xxx AMD this scores ahead of consistently is the 5600X and it isn't even a 6fps lead. This is possibly an engineering sample and may perform better at release, as it common with samples; but even if it can hit 6fps over the 5950X consistently, it will barely keep Intel competitive and is not enough of a lead for an 8 core CPU, even in gaming, unless Intel prices it in the $300 range, and I don't expect to see that happen. I like that Intel is trying hard to dethrone AMD, but I would like to see more than just barely topping AMD. Unless Intel comes in much lower than AMD in price, Intel still has big problems.1 point -

A thought experiment: imagine an Extinction Level Event asteroid falling towards the Earth. Case 1: humans are only on earth => humanity disappears Case 2: humans are on Earth AND Mars => humanity survives We are sitting ducks when we are on 1 planet only. I guess much depends on why you're thinking of getting a new computer. Is it just because a certain amount of time has transpired and so you feel you need to 'upgrade', you have money that you have nothing else to spend on, or you genuinely need an upgrade for whatever it is your working on because you've noticed a laginess recently in your current system. Frankly, your system is in a higher speed bracket than mine, and I'm not thinking of upgrading. I recently got an extra 16 GB of RAM (total of 32 now), and recently upgraded my video card. The CPU is the least thing you need to upgrade frankly; it spends most of its time doing literally nothing in your computer. So I would say no, it's not worth forking out $1,000 for something that will literally have no effect on your performance. I would upgrade the smaller SSD boot drive, or get a larger HDD for storage. The i7-6700 is a multi-core processor. Frankly, your video card is better than the one I upgraded to as well.1 point -
