  1. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

I have never seen anyone use Alarms, Timer or Stopwatch on a PC. I've only seen people use it on their phones with touchscreen or Alexa, Google Assistant etc) by voice, which is often the fastest. The World Clock is useful though.

  2. myTube reaches version 4.0 with a new UI, GIF maker, and more

They've even adapted the new icon style which I haven't seen any other 3rd party apps do, even Microsoft are struggling at doing so

  5. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

I have a Surface Go which I use around the kitchen to watch Youtube videos or whatever while cooking. I've used the Timer a bunch of times to keep track of how long something has been on the stove. Unlike the Timer program on Android, the one on Windows can run multiple timers at the same time. There's also a very difficult segment of Yakuza 4, the video game, which requires you to survive doing something for 90 seconds, but there is no on-screen timer to give you a sense of how far along you are. I used the Stopwatch to give me a visual cue of how much time has elapsed. There, now you know someone who uses it.

  6. So much animosity towards MS on this. There are a bajillion (technical term!) people using Microsoft technologies, through M365 and Windows. The people and poor choices are the problem, not the technology; there's nothing inherently insecure about Microsoft. Of course there is encryption here, and the Authenticator app requires MFA.

  9. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

My younger sibling uses it to time himself doing exam papers on his second monitor and uses the alarm feature to plan his day and remind him to switch what he's revising. Now you know a second person who uses it.

  10. Possible Surface Pro 8 storage and RAM configuration details leak

It took apple a decade, huge massive investments, and required apple to have none of the legacy and business app concerns Microsoft has. MS isn't going to be making their own CPU anytime soon.

  11. Possible Surface Pro 8 storage and RAM configuration details leak

No better yet , put Google making A1, microsoft G1, intel just release a S1, Snapdragon I1 and AMD R1 (as in ARM) got it ? 🤣🤣🤣 All in all I don't give a $### as long as they lower prices and offer more better machines at lower prices with biggest improvements . Otherwise let just the the M1 for thatv pricey brand. Microsoft shoud start thinking in lowering prices for their surfaces as they are designed outdated , ok memory bump and ssd , but at what cost? We will see , but without redesign and better frameless screens I don't see this generation as an improvement.

  12. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

Sun Valley is the project that implements Fluent UI. It's not a new design language, although guidelines have been changed. Then why does the article say this is our first look at the UI? Either it's a new UI or it's not. Because it is our first look at what Sun Valley means for Windows' UI.

Just so I'm clear. I buy this, install an SSD inside it, load multiple bootable ISO's on it, plug it into a usb port on whatever computer, use the buttons on the side to scroll and pick ISO, the computer will boot to chosen ISO? Also for everyone wondering, I created a video tonight showing how it works https://www.youtube.com/watch?...hixF6A&feature=youtu.be

  24. Google and Qualcomm work to bring up to four Android OS updates to new devices

Cool story. Wouldn't it be nice, if say you were somehow broke, to keep whatever phone you have and expect it to work and not be malware filled? Just saying. There are a ton of people that can't afford the phone they have, let alone buying a new one every couple of years.

For the love of evil, Nvidia.. get your act together already! New drivers this month alone, Dec 2nd, 9th and now the 15th. I haven't rebooted my machine this many times since bad driver issues in the old XP days. /s

  28. hoping the sleep improvement fixes the wifi connection after sleep. often doesn't connect. Eye contact does nothing, tried it on zoom, skype, google meet, etc. and not a single time has it worked. windows hello is also noticeably worse than on the sp7 and my X only recognizes me about 20% of the time, usually it says it cannot and i enter my pin. still the best computer i've ever owned.

  30. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

I'd like to note that, while there are some icons in there that I've personally never seen used before, like the "reset"-button, the icons themselves aren't new (as noted in my Medium blogpost), they're still the old MDL2 icons.

  33. Firefox 84 launches with support for Apple Silicon CPUs

Firefox stats are dropping which is a bit sad but I'm glad you've gone with Edge over Chrome. The best thing for the internet is if people are using different browsers. I use Linux and FIrefox comes installed by default so I tend to stick to it, love Firefox Monitor too so there's that. Your argument is out dated and made more sense years ago when every browser used a different rendering engine. Picking one Chromium browser over another is doing little for the "Internet". The problem is web developers are just targeting a rendering engine (aka Chromium) now and not the web standards themselves.

  47. MTU size on router... change?

And who's ethernet interface would ever be at 576 to start with? Yeah if your setup was that messed up, correcting it would be a good thing yes. $ netsh int ipv4 show int Idx Met MTU State Name --- ---------- ---------- ------------ --------------------------- 1 75 4294967295 connected Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 14 5 1500 connected Ethernet 13 25 1500 connected Ethernet 2 17 20 1500 connected Ethernet 3 As you can see mine is 1500.. Lets change that to see if drops my speedtest into the dirt. So before test Now changed it to 576, which Yeah if your ethernet is set to 576 then its borked anyway C:\Windows\system32>netsh int ipv4 show int Idx Met MTU State Name --- ---------- ---------- ------------ --------------------------- 1 75 4294967295 connected Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 14 5 576 connected Ethernet 13 25 1500 connected Ethernet 2 17 20 1500 connected Ethernet 3 Yeah my speed drops... But it sure not as drastic as down to 150ish.. If I would take anything out of that video - is yeah to make sure your mtu is not borked.. There should never have been a reason for windows to alter the mtu of an ethernet connection or your wifi connection.. Unless you ran some sort of tweaking nonsense software, etc. etc..

  48. The reddit post explains it with links to documented code snippets. The code belongs to the OpenGPU library, and has everything to do with the way they had to check for AMD "Bulldozer" CPU usage on treads for logical units vs core counts.
