  1. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

I have never seen anyone use Alarms, Timer or Stopwatch on a PC. I've only seen people use it on their phones with touchscreen or Alexa, Google Assistant etc) by voice, which is often the fastest. The World Clock is useful though.

They've even adapted the new icon style which I haven't seen any other 3rd party apps do, even Microsoft are struggling at doing so

  5. Windows 10 Alarms & Clock app gets a major redesign for Insiders

I have a Surface Go which I use around the kitchen to watch Youtube videos or whatever while cooking. I've used the Timer a bunch of times to keep track of how long something has been on the stove. Unlike the Timer program on Android, the one on Windows can run multiple timers at the same time. There's also a very difficult segment of Yakuza 4, the video game, which requires you to survive doing something for 90 seconds, but there is no on-screen timer to give you a sense of how far along you are. I used the Stopwatch to give me a visual cue of how much time has elapsed. There, now you know someone who uses it.

  6. So much animosity towards MS on this. There are a bajillion (technical term!) people using Microsoft technologies, through M365 and Windows. The people and poor choices are the problem, not the technology; there's nothing inherently insecure about Microsoft. Of course there is encryption here, and the Authenticator app requires MFA.

My younger sibling uses it to time himself doing exam papers on his second monitor and uses the alarm feature to plan his day and remind him to switch what he's revising. Now you know a second person who uses it.

  10. Possible Surface Pro 8 storage and RAM configuration details leak

It took apple a decade, huge massive investments, and required apple to have none of the legacy and business app concerns Microsoft has. MS isn't going to be making their own CPU anytime soon.

No better yet , put Google making A1, microsoft G1, intel just release a S1, Snapdragon I1 and AMD R1 (as in ARM) got it ? 🤣🤣🤣 All in all I don't give a $### as long as they lower prices and offer more better machines at lower prices with biggest improvements . Otherwise let just the the M1 for thatv pricey brand. Microsoft shoud start thinking in lowering prices for their surfaces as they are designed outdated , ok memory bump and ssd , but at what cost? We will see , but without redesign and better frameless screens I don't see this generation as an improvement.

Sun Valley is the project that implements Fluent UI. It's not a new design language, although guidelines have been changed. Then why does the article say this is our first look at the UI? Either it's a new UI or it's not. Because it is our first look at what Sun Valley means for Windows' UI.

Just so I'm clear. I buy this, install an SSD inside it, load multiple bootable ISO's on it, plug it into a usb port on whatever computer, use the buttons on the side to scroll and pick ISO, the computer will boot to chosen ISO? Also for everyone wondering, I created a video tonight showing how it works https://www.youtube.com/watch?...hixF6A&feature=youtu.be

Cool story. Wouldn't it be nice, if say you were somehow broke, to keep whatever phone you have and expect it to work and not be malware filled? Just saying. There are a ton of people that can't afford the phone they have, let alone buying a new one every couple of years.

  26. The purple units are their allies, some other nation broke through the wall and the purple guys rushed there to help defend the city. They were victorious and now they are preparing a victory celebration and maybe a parade. Hopefully I'm not missing sarcasm here, but the purple and teal units are clearly fighting, and purple has trebs set up in teal's base; not usual for an ally . Yes. Quite so. Also, the trebuchets aren't just set up; one of them has just landed a hit on the teal Paladin fighting in front of the Town Center. You can see the smoke trail in the air. Teal ships are also firing arrows. You can see them in flight.

Microsoft shouldnt Limit themselves to Intel and AMD. just like Apple they need to invest in making their own Processor they can sell to other OEMs. Like if they can use ARM just like apple and make it very efficient with better performance then they will rule the console space and overhaul their Desktop space.

Eye contact does nothing, tried it on zoom, skype, google meet, etc. and not a single time has it worked. windows hello is also noticeably worse than on the sp7 and my X only recognizes me about 20% of the time, usually it says it cannot and i enter my pin. still the best computer i've ever owned.

What's concerning is that multi-billion dollar companies like Twitter buy up any company that might offer competition, often to quietly shutter them years later having put no effort in to maintain them.

Exactly the same here, use Lastpass i can't imagine anyone wanting to use a browser password manager when there are better options available, in fact just using Chrome as a browser when there are other options, but that is just my opinion.

Cue the Google Photos bait and switch. Lure users to platform, change terms and/or increase cost of service. If somehow that doesn't happen they'll cancel or rebrand the service into something else entirely with a completely new pricing structure. No thanks, Google.

  45. MTU size on router... change?

And what article/proof was this that changing your mtu would change your speed from 150 to 450? Seems really unlikely unless your mtu was set way to low to begin with.. For example if you were using a mtu of 576 (very lowest normally) and you went to 1500 (normal standard mtu) Do the math to what your MTU could do.. (MSS/RTT)*(C/sqrt(Loss)) [ C=1 ] So with the standard MTU and a 80ms RTT without any loss your max would be 1460.00 Mbit/sec. With even a very low mtu say 576, and same 80ms RTT your max would be 536.00 Mbit/sec. So while sure MTU could and can affect your speed. I find it highly unlikely that a change would give you any such speed boost.. There are many factors that could effect your overall speed.. The mtu should normally be set at standard 1500 and Path discovery would adjust this down to prevent fragmentation for any given conversation between source IP and dest IP across the internet. Now if your using some other form of connection.. PPPoe for example, or your over a vpn of some sort then the correct mtu would be less than the standard 1500 ethernet size.. But I really do not see adjusting accounting for such a boost in performance.

  46. What’s wrong with hex editors? I use it often at work, super useful for analyzing and modifying FPGA bitstreams. Nothing, if you actually need them for something else. For one game that will inevitably be patched? Not going there. HAHAHA, eventually get patched... Have you read some of the reviews on this game? I don't think half of the issues will ever be patched officially, seems cdpr is another bethesda Loads of small visual glitches. Cars levtitating, people having legs missing, weird colors. None of these bother me, its was a huge project in wich they aimed to make everyone happy. And they surely made me happy! Not that I'm critiquing it or saying their attitude is good or bad, I don't know, but all I read is "they will fix the bugs", yeah? No deus ex game launched with huge issues like this, no final fantasy game launched with huge issues like this, no GTA launched with huge issues like this, yet a game in development for 9 years is filled to the brim with huge bugs after a very delayed release... That doesn't really add up. Pretty sure GTA IV was buggy at launch on PC, coupled with performance issues that plagued it. There was also the ultimate sin that was GFWL that caused issues for both that game and Fallout 3 (which was a mess at launch too). GTA Online is also a crapfest that I don't particularly understand how so many people play it, given the load times, desync, and so on. Personally, I'm more inclined to give them a chance simply because I've had zero expectations for this game and it's come out way ahead for someone who wasn't even keeping up what this series was about. (literally didn't realize it was an RPG until I created a character if I'm being perfectly honest) I'd give them time, but only because of their past reputation. Besides, given the nature of Twitter, I'm sure there are already people foaming at the mouth sending them death threats about an issue already... We're on our way to our own dystopian hellscape all the same! GTA IV is still buggy lol
