The US calling out the Chinese government for things it also does is just too funny. Kettle calling the pot black. And this has nothing to even do with partisanship, at least for a few decades now. The US is a one-party surveillance and police state in that area. And in foreign policy. "it's about hUmAn RiGhTs AbUsEs primarily against Muslims" they say, to make their imperialistic agenda look good, while they also fund the Israeli apartheid state to commit war crimes against Palestinians.6 points -
Got the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

Hi All, Just a PSA, As a front line health care worker, I received the 1st of two COVID vaccines last Wednesday. I wanted to get it due to my age and exposure to COVID-19 patients on a daily basis. I must say that despite a sore arm and one day of some malaise, I feel fine. Going back for #2 dose during the first week of January. I am extremely grateful for the many scientists, researchers, and volunteers who did the research on this vaccine. I am blessed to be one of the first to get it and encourage others to do the same. Yes, there were two (so far) who had reactions, but this is expected in a huge population getting the vaccine. There will be a few who don't tolerate it. Please consider getting whatever vaccine is offered to you. COVID-19 is no joke and the residual effects are horrid. Best always to all of my fellow Neowinians this holiday season!4 points -

This is so wrong, it's a headache to go through... It might not kill you. You might just have to live with brain, lung and heart damage for the rest of your life. Coolio, dodged a bullet there(!) I laugh at how wearing a mask is being controlled. Good point. It's like a fire, it's only bad for you if you're flammable... While there is no avoiding the fact that in the US they are extorting people, you just need to look at reasonable health industries in other countries to realise that this vaccine is for the good of the population, not a money-grabbing scheme. You can blame the US industry for high prices, but not for offering a life-saving drug. If you have a chance, get vaccinated. There's just no two ways about it.3 points -

I wish CDPR would keep all the weird bizarre bugs under "Corrupted" game mode. I want to play the game in its polished form one day, but I'd also like to experience all the weird, bizarre and hilarious bugs after it's fixed. Coz while people are enraged over the bugs, it's also hilarious to experience them and just laugh at it like mad. It would also be the first time in history that game developer is mocking itself for the bugs along with the polished game that we all actually want if they were to include such mode.2 points -

No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to use Twitter. The only thing that's missing from this opinion is 230 protections. If Twitter/Facebook/Google are going to become publishers... then remove the protections for being a platform. Once that's done... then let the lawsuits land where they land. Microsoft reportedly working on its own custom ARM chips for servers and Surface [Update]
greensabath reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
Are you trying to refer to an article from a month ago to invalidate a completely different report? Rich didn't make that up, there's a source linked that says the exact same thing. The Bloomberg source headline says: "Microsoft Designing Its Own Chips for Servers, Surface PCs" This is a clear statement that Microsoft are designing their own chips for Surface. Yet in the article itself: "Microsoft’s efforts are more likely to result in a server chip than one for its Surface devices, though the latter is possible, said one of the people" Again, I'm calling out that Microsoft is making a chip for Servers only as a near certainty, and Surface is a maybe, unlike the many headlines and which imply it's more concrete. Rich also provided a quote from Frank Shaw in an update, which again is more in line with what I'm talking about. I wouldn't be too critical of any of the reporting, as you note, there are layers on layers, with different development and research efforts in Microsoft. Microsoft does work on chips and hardware designs, and it comes down to what they would put their name on, and/or the benefits of doing that compared to feeding the technology to partners to produce the silicon and supply the market. Microsoft making a Surface specific ARM processor like Apple, doesn't make a lot of sense, as Microsoft benefits just as much when a custom chip would be available to other OEMs. This is where the tech 'journalists' in the original article and several articles are looking to Microsoft through Apple lenses and expecting Microsoft to do as Apple does and respond with a custom M1-like processor for only their products. Which is something Ballmer might have done, but the current Microsoft would be foolish to be like Apple. There Microsoft technology in current Qualcomm and Samsung and Apple silicon. There is Microsoft CPU/GPU technology in both AMD and Intel latest processors as well, both are still using SoC integration technologies created by Microsoft as one tiny example. The 'difference' I am noticing, is that Microsoft is leveraging AMD's success to not cater to Intel as much as they have had to do for the last decade, and invest in non-Intel technologies. Even in their FPGA technology, they ended up giving the tech to Intel to produce, as Intel really didn't like Microsoft's focusing toward ARM. Even with WM/WP/WOA - Intel was as much of a problem as was Google and Apple's bank and carrier manipulation. Even though the phone side seems outside of Intels' concern, they didn't like how well NT ran on the ARM hardware. (Hell 2015 devices with 810 SoCs still run really well in comparison to devices in 2020, let alone to devices in 2015.) I would also be shocked if Microsoft produces exclusive silicon for any product that they don't give to partners to implements, it just would be crazy in the consumer space products. In server, even then it would be weird, but more plausible, as Microsoft Azure is a competitive platform in the space and could use Microsoft's hardware and R&D teams brilliance in direct products, but again, they would still benefit to provide this through server hardware partners in addition to their own deployment. It is an interesting thing to watch, with Microsoft actually showing their work a bit more in products over the past couple years, where nobody thought they did CPU/GPU design technologies - which they did - to at least most people knowing that Microsoft builds the SoC in the Xbox Series and has contributed to AMD's current successful products, etc.1 point -

Yeah it should be part of the "Ready for Windows 10" sticker certification. Part of the problem is hardware cost; in fact, it has BEEN the problem since the early days of TPM - right or not? (Fingerprint tech isn't the issue - both Samsung and Google included it with their midrange phones [Galaxy S and Pixel 3a, respectively]; it's the rest of it.) I used it with the S7 - and with the 3a that replaced it; in fact, the 3a has not gone anywhere - it's my daily driver. The only two phones in line to replace the 3a have the same fingerprint tech - the 4a 5G and Pixel 5 - and the fingerprint tech is why. It isn't anything else - the technology itself goes back to the 1980s They should add this fingerprint tech on every keyboard available, I don't mind to pay 10 euros more for this single key added on my keyboards. For the common person... simply use a password manager (I suggest using 20+ characters in length where possible and use at least one upper case/lower case letter, a number and a symbol as this forces someone trying to crack your password to try all possible combinations that way pretty much). this way all you have to do is remember a decent password, called the master password, and once you enter that, the password manager remembers all of your usernames/passwords to your accounts online that are very secure as no one will guess that and even if one account became compromised, through say a hacker hacking a website, the rest of your accounts will still be secure since your using a different password on every single account you use. NOTE: to state the obvious... make damn sure to backup your password managers database file because if your computer crashes and you lose that file, getting access to your accounts online is going to be a big problem. so make at least one or two backup copies as this way if your computer crashes, it will be nice and easy to restore that database file to another computer. I suggest Diceware (which is guaranteed secure), or at least use a decent password paired with a padding scheme. I suspect most will opt for the decent password with a padding scheme, since it's easier to remember. so instead of say 'MyDecentPassword' one can do something like '-----MyDecent?Password..........'. this takes a 16 character password and makes it into 32 characters in length. because as a general rule when it comes to passwords, the longer the better. you could even use whatever letters you want instead... "aaaaaMyDecentaPasswordaaaaaaaaaa" etc. but since people are lazy, they usually avoid setting up the password manager but it's well worth it (since initial setup takes a while but after that it's easy) since it's a secure way to help ensure your doing your part so no one will hack into your account and even if some site is hacked, the damage will be limited to just that one account. but many have to learn the hard way where they use the same crappy password on multiple sites and when one gets hacked, the hacker and potentially take over the rest of your accounts and wreaks havok on ones online life and at that point it's usually too late. you don't want someone getting a hold of your email which is often tied to many other of your accounts as they could potentially use that to reset password for other accounts you have. as they say those hacker types usually go after the low-hanging-fruit. so you want to be above that standard at the very least otherwise your asking for trouble. side note... a YubiKey is nice for further securing ones Google account. with that, even if someone were to get a hold of your username/password, they still can't log into your account. NOTE: those with a computer with a USB port I suggest just the two cheapest keys. you need two of these because one you use for general use and another for a backup in case you lose your primary key you can still sign into your Google account and remove the lost/stolen key, then just simply buy another and register that to the account and you now have two keys again. p.s. Diceware basically generates a passphrase using words from... https://www.eff.org/files/2016/07/18/eff_large_wordlist.txt ; you basically take five dice and with each roll of those five dice (reading from left to right or right to left as they fall on the table in front of you) it gives you a 5-digit number which you then convert to a word on that txt file I linked to. it's suggested to use a minimum of six words which is about equivalent to a 12 character random password using all 94 keys on a standard keyboard short of the space bar. a 10 word Diceware passphrase is similar in security to a 20 character randomly generated password using all 94 keys on the keyboard. basically a 10 character passphrase with Diceware won't be cracked for the foreseeable future since it's 129.2bits of entropy. a six word Diceware passphrase is 77.5bits of entropy. with that said... I suggest adding a little padding in there to to further harden it. on a side note... one can use dice to generate random passwords of any length you want (I won't get into this for now) but unless one is really paranoid and don't trust the password managers password generation, it's likely overkill. so just use the password managers password generation instead since it's much easier and takes quite a bit less time since, in short, one would have to roll three dice at least twenty times in order to generate a 20 character password using all keys on a standard keyboard short of the space bar. but for those interested in this see the "How do I use dice to create random character strings?" section over at this link... https://theworld.com/~reinhold/dicewarefaq.html ; for example here is one 20 character password I rolled using real dice... ^r3_ATt[C+ _^F864`z)I ; I try to make it so that at least one lower case letter, upper case letter, a number and a symbol is included which usually seems to do that when rolling 20+ characters from what I have noticed even though there might be times it does not since this is random after all. either way, that will still be much more secure than some so-so password many are using.1 point -

The trade in of my Mac mini 2018 for 550 was basically a no brainer for me. Runs well. Even Rosetta 2 apps run well. I do have to use HDMI for one of my monitors. The other one is on USB C, which is fine, because I also have a USB C peripheral. Basically all ports are in use. Luckily my monitor (the USB-C one) has plenty of additional USB C ports on it. Runs much cooler, quieter and my battery backup is almost double than what it was. Seems to be way more efficient and just as fast as my old i7 one, faster on native apps. Microsoft Office is a breeze on larger files now. Kind of an impulse buy, but with the trade in and good reviews, I decided to just go for it.1 point -

And why exactly should he be banned? Ignoring absolutely everything else he's done on Twitter; I'll just go with trolling. Has he done something illegal? Has he called for someone's death?1 point -

Human Rights organizations are fronts for neoliberal fascist imperialism. It's funny how the US is currently bombing seven majority Muslim nations but somehow you care about the ones in China. Weird isn't it. China's minimum wage has tripled in the last thirty years. Meanwhile stateside.... Pretty sure I'm against wars overseas too so no idea what you're talking about. And when does that ever justify what China is doing? You've made no secret your love for China, something that isn't even shared by the territories of China for that matter. You're welcome to take your red flag elsewhere, I'm not buying the nonsense you're selling. Stay willfully ignorant my friend. Yeah buddy, everyone's wrong but you, and I'm the ignorant one. Keep dreaming. The guys seems to be an Anti-westerner. I just figured out that (as must as I tried to) I can't reason with the guy. He's useless and too far gone. Listen to Lawrence Wilkerson say it. "Lawrence B. Wilkerson is a retired United States Army Colonel and former chief of staff to United States Secretary of State Colin Powell. " It's not me saying it.1 point -
