iPhones of multiple Al Jazeera journalists hit by a zero-click hack
dead.cell and 7 others reacted to Fleet Command for a topic
This article is the poorest rehash of The Guardian's article. From what I read there: 1. An Israeli company called "NSO" has developed a malware called "Pegasus" that takes advantage of a vulnerability called "KISMET". This vulnerability has been plugged in iOS 14. 2. NSO sells this malware to governments only; its clients swear on the grave of their own mothers that they don't use it for any purpose other than anti-terrorism. If they break this oath, some magic spell causes them to become barren for seven generations! 😉 3. Despite the magic-bound oath, Pegasus has been deployed against journalists in Morocco, political dissidents from Rwanda, politicians in Spain, pro-democracy clergy in Togo, a certain journalist in London, Al Jazeera journalists, and a lot of others who think human rights violations are bad. 4. NSO does not name its clients. NSO is sure that they are good people. After all, they've sworn on the grave of their own mothers.8 points -

This is a major problem, and they have not adequately provided a means to check if your system has received this new update that resolves it, this is only made worse that their 'fix' instructions, include performing the very action that can result in a non-bootable drive in the first place!2 points -

Of course there will be a degradation in quality. And all because all the Android phone makers couldn't keep a tiny bezel and gave too much importance to how the phone looks. Now it will start affecting how your front camera photos look if all others pick up the trend. So in short, how you look in the photo is less important than how the phone looks.2 points -

Rdr2 is a snooze fest. No idea why reviewers gave it so much praise. Plot is boring. Gun play is tiresome. Runs like a dog on pc. I haven't finished it. I forced myself to get 3/4 of the way through the campaign and just can't get any further because it's so boring One of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I ever had........That game's campaign is second to none. sure, if repetitive missions with wayyyyyyy too much dialogue and sitting around waiting for stuff is your thing. but don't just let me stop the unpopular views here, BOTW is a 70% game at best, and if it didn't have the name zelda would have been largely ignored. It's boring, slow, graphics suck, gameplay is lame, and it has essentially zero redeeming feature. nostalgia is a powerful drug for most nerds and without nostalgia BOTW would have gotten the reviews it deserved. You sound bitter. I hope you're okay. not bitter at all. I'm ok, i just don't like boring games. plus i like making nerds mad.2 points -

I half feel like this makes sense but half feel like there's something super wasteful about just blanket throwing away all tech from some particular brand. This reminds me of when you sometimes find rambling text when viewing HTML source. So the thing about getting a point across is maybe a little less of the "check out this acronym here I'll tell you what it means nobody ever uses it" and the "see it's like this reference which adds weight to my argument because it's a reference" and the "here's a question for you and here's the answer you should have to it" stuff. Leave that to people who talk politics in an MMO's general chat.1 point -

Still don't know how I feel about ZTE and Huawei, as the metric of the claims against them are met by a lot of other China funded companies. The low income subsidy is a really good thing, even if you are a die hard libertarian or conservative. It goes back to the adage, give someone a fish vs teaching someone how to fish. In the conservative context this subsidy lifts up people to contribute to the market. Although I support it in other contexts, everyone should support it for various reasons and economic theory, let alone being compassionate/kind to people that life has screwed over.1 point -

It works with current basic and Elite Xbox controllers, but there's also 3rd party solutions like Razer Junglecat that provide a more Switch-like controller experience. i say this everytime someone mention cloud gaming it'll be a thing when i have solid 5G everytime, everywhere when i'm outside - train - metro (underground) - plane - indoor(bedroom) - places with lot of people and therefore ###### internet Until then, portable console like the Switch, the Switch 2, the Switch 3, the Switch 4, will be perfect1 point -

I am beginning to think that for most AAA titles these days, devs are (being forced into) skipping the beta phase altogether, and jumping from "alpha" straight on to "release". Bugs and glitches are always inevitable, but some of these issues I am reading about seem "difficult" to miss during any regular testing stages. Allow me to take advantage of the situation to repeat my usual "blurb" that, contrary to popular corporate belief, the much-lauded Agile and Scrum frameworks for software project management are simply not working to specifications. :-P1 point -

The PC version had issues, but the patches are getting better. I feel bad for CD Projekt Red, but they brought this on themselves, and I think it's for one reason only - they tried to release Cyberpunk on too many platforms at once. Most of the dramas stem from base model PS4/XB1 consoles. Since the dev agreements specify a game must run on base model consoles, CDPR had to make the game run on ~2013 hardware. The PS5/XBX specific version won't appear until next year, so those players are running the same version as PS4/XB1 owners at this time, but they have the hardware to handle it. Trying to release such an ambitious game on PC, XB1, XB1S, XB1X, PS4, PS4pro, Stadia, XBX, XBS all at once was a massive mistake (when you have to make it run on the lowest hardware), and it will cost CDPR.1 point -
