  1. Apple reverses stance about popular Mac app being named after a drug

That’s ultimately the problem with Apple’s review department. They get a bunch of what I can only assume are interns and let them loose. You can submit an app three times and literally get three different reactions.

  2. A canceled Windows Core OS build has reportedly leaked online

Used to be thrilled about these types of things 20 years ago. Can remember getting my hands on an exclusive build of Windows XP build 5.2.3790 (Windows Server 2003 codebase) for x86 even though this version was being designed for x64 platforms. Maybe I'm not so much of fanboy anymore, maybe its that I'm grown, maybe its that I don't really have time anymore, I dunno.

Every time I read something about Apple's store policies, it reminds me of cruel dictators. They kill, banish, torture, or imprison someone because he or she said something the dictators didn't like.

Hyperbole is your go-to? Well, the boot fits. (This was a metaphor by the way.) What? You learned the word "hyperbole" today and wanted to use it in a comment? Thankfully no; more that your utter lunacy fit the word perfectly, much akin to your metaphorical boot.

  15. A canceled Windows Core OS build has reportedly leaked online

This broken project, not only was messed up by idiots inside Microsoft, it broken Windows NT possibly forever, along with killing other project to support the damage these teams were doing. It damaged Server, IoT, WM/WP, Hub, new App Framework changes, Unifying a UI model, and on and on and on. Everything was put on hold, and upper level important things like WinUI and Win32 integration with UWP were shelved as no longer being important, while watching Windows crumble in the consumer space, with development barely touching bug fixes, let alone fixing the UI inconsistency and problems that were on the road map for 2017 and canned for this BS.

  16. Apart from this being hyperbole(sorry I just learnt this word and wanted to use it), it doesn't quite work I don't think. Corporations like Apple are less like cruel dictatorships and much more like Kafkaesque bureaucracies.

I find saying crazy things an acceptable alternative to hurtful personal attacks that you hurl at other people. Unlike you, I find it highly objectionable to call someone a lunatic. Of the three people in this thread who didn't like my comment, you're the only one who used personal attacks. What Apple did to Gustafson, what infamous dictators do, and what you did here to me, all have a common component: Egregious overreaction.

  19. Microsoft Surface Pro 7 gets a $440 price cut on Amazon

When I clicked through to Amazon, my Rakuten plugin showed that Staples had the same bundle for $899, and then you'd get the 2% cashback. Savings of a whopping $9 but there ya go.

Modular programming, instead of just coding? Will this new OS be more reliable than WIndows-10? Will this new OS be actually designed for desktop and laptop PCs for business oriented users? I guess we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, good old reliable Windows-7 just keeps chugging along--getting the job done reliably.

  21. It seems the only DLC this game really needs is bug fixes, LOTS of bug fixes. Lest we forget, CD Projekt Red are the company that botched the PC port of Saints Row 2, and many of the issues were fixed with 3rd party mods like Gentlemen Of The Row.

  24. Adobe Flash Player is set for discontinuation within hours

Except from the 12th January, you can't., Adobe will stop all installs of Flash Player from displaying any content. So unless you want to start paying for enterprise support, you now have less than 12 days to access Flash Player content before it dies ... forever. Adobe Flash Player is DEAD. You need to let it go. Its not and I bet you I can use it. If you don't like it then don't use it stop giving others grief when they still use it. If you think you can use Flash Player after 12th January without paid enterprise support, you're simply deluded. Fair enough if you want to have an increasingly massive unpatched security hole on your PC by continuing to use Adobe Flash Player, don't complain when your PC gets pwned by hackers exploiting vulnerabilities that will never be patched by Adobe. Protect your PC. Uninstall Adobe Flash Player asap. Or you will get what you deserve.

  25. Tesla manufactured more than half a million cars in 2020

They have no physical windshield wipers? How does that work? It has them, just no physical nob to turn them on. It's either automatic as the car senses it needs them or you have to look over at the computer screen to turn them on. Oh... I missed the word "switch". I am not sure why the OP needs a physical knob. l would like one too. For when the automatics don't kick on and you can't see and so you don't have to turn your head from the road and dick with an LCD screen to turn them on. Telsa doesn't have voice command?

  26. Tesla manufactured more than half a million cars in 2020

Build quality is terrible. And when things break and need replaced they’re back ordered and take weeks/months to resolve. Glad real OEMs are finally entering this segment. The only plus Tesla offers is axing the dealer networks and buying straight from them.

  27. Tesla manufactured more than half a million cars in 2020

They've got the cool stuff down and the performance. Now if they could just take a year and focus on good build quality and actual car "standards" every other auto-maker has. There are some real build-quality issues for the money, and some controls just need to come out of the center console.

  29. Office Lens has been removed from the Microsoft Store

This was also my first thought, but the second thought was different... I think they abadoned it, because nobody is using it. As there aren't Windows Phones anymore, i can't imagine people holding letters in front of their PC Webcam to scan documents, as they do with their phones. The majority of Windows 10 notebooks are either Tablets or 2-in-1 devices. This is the craziest statement I have read today. Oh, except all the Microsoft Surface products and the majority of notebooks that are 2-n-1 - nobody is using it. Really? i.e. I only drive a brown car, thus no other color cars exist and I cannot imagine red cars are ever used. Sorry, but Office Lens on Windows has little to no use since its a niche market for a document scanning with the app. It is far easier and convenient to scan stuff with mobile phones. I'd reckon Windows Phone users still holding on to it use the app more frequently than Windows Laptops/Tablets/2-in-1s user Anyway, using your analogy, just because your car looks good in a rainbow paint scheme doesn't mean the manufacturer should provide that option across their entire lineup.

Can't say I am surprised. Between the number of users, development cost, manpower and expertise required, commitment toll, COVID-19 impact, and overall usefulness, Microsoft decided the app is not worth it. And besides, soon, people are going to be able to use Android apps in Windows. Since there is an Android version of Office Lens, you can say that it isn't really dead on Windows.

No speedometer and having to look to the right to see the screen would drive me nuts. At the moment, in my car, I have "Navdy" a nice little projection hud. Your eyes can just glance down for a fraction of a second to see your speed. After using it, looking down to the center console to see the speed feels like an eternity.

If they try, I will simply download it via torrent and share it with everyone I know. They're done collecting money. As the consumer I have that power. Yes. As the consumer you DO have the power... To be a thief.

  37. Discuss: What would you want to see in a Nintendo Switch Pro?

I work in front of a computer 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week. As much as I love PC gaming, it is liberating to get away from the computer after a full day of working in front of one... Which is why I prefer consoles, unless I'm playing Warzone or WoW online with friends. Sitting down in front of a computer at home for gaming feels like going back to work after sitting in front of a computer for an entire day at the office, or, in these times, at home (work from home). A console gets me away from "the desk" which is exactly why I prefer it, regardless if the game would look far better on my RTX 3080 and LG 38GN950 38" ultrawide monitor.

I’ll believe the UI refresh when I see it. Like before, this will be lipstick on a pig. The top-level UI elements will be updated, but once we’ll start digging in the UI the Windows 95 and Vista bits will still be there.
