And at the end... tools like the Windows Vista and Windows 8 scanning apps will remain, unchanged. Windows 2000-era dialog boxes will still be present. Old icons will appear throughout.

  6. Smaller footprint in storage, but being a hybrid web app and having to run a browser engine they'll be much heavier in memory usage. Mail currently using ~35MB RAM, open a pretty empty outlook.com in Edge, ~250MB RAM.

  9. A canceled Windows Core OS build has reportedly leaked online

What is broken on my Win10 machine? Why is Win10 no good for business? My questions are serious, not antagonistic. Every release of Windows has a generation banging the drum for the previous version to live on for ever and ever... why?

  10. A canceled Windows Core OS build has reportedly leaked online

Used to be thrilled about these types of things 20 years ago. Can remember getting my hands on an exclusive build of Windows XP build 5.2.3790 (Windows Server 2003 codebase) for x86 even though this version was being designed for x64 platforms. Maybe I'm not so much of fanboy anymore, maybe its that I'm grown, maybe its that I don't really have time anymore, I dunno.

  11. Probably just a web app, going to rebuild all the garbage to use the heavier chromium versions. Mail app is okay, calendar app is bad [one spammer can take over your calendar] But ya I just use outlook.com

  12. I agree, but it's probably for the best. Anything that gets "updated" usually ends up half as functional as before and looks half as good. Examples include, Settings, Cortana, Search, Tablet usability (various things), Start menu, Jumplists, (File) Explorer, etc.

It runs like a dream. The only minor complaint is that UI elements are quite small on a 1440p 25" display and were tiny on a 4K 32" display. Windows' Aero Glass was stunning.

  14. I use the Windows 10 mail app to select all my inbox emails at once. Outlook.com can't do this basic function. We will lose this functionality in the app once they replace it with this new webview2 garbage. Good job Microsoft!

Apparently someone fully invested in Corporate America Kool Aid (tm). Literally all of what you wrote is wrong, except for the fact that occasionally unions protect ###### workers, just like corporate America frequently protects ###### managers. 16. Outlook Express was not a bad app, I used it myself Until I could afford it (the Office '97 suite) I used and quite liked Outlook Express. Even after going with Outlook '98 (since '97 was a disaster they released '98 as a free disc) I used it as my Usenet newsreader for years.

  17. Alphabet workers announce the formation of a union

Union work is quite a bit larger in scope than just striking and pay. I'm self employed and belong to a union because they offer legal advice which I otherwise couldn't afford. On top of that they give me lots of discounts at cinemas and on products if I ever want to take advantage of them. On balance, I think you're better off being in a union than not. It's like the UK's NHS, you pay a certain amount each year in tax to maintain the health system even if you never use it that year but when you do end up using it you aren't lumped with an enormous bill; safety in numbers.

  20. Same issue as people using a swastika? WTF? It was, is, and continues to be a Hindu symbol long before the Nazi usage. A Hindu prayer app is likely to be filled with usages of that symbol. Swastikas are very common in India and most people to use them don't even know the Nazi association. Sure, but in Western countries we all know what a swastika means. Go to Germany and tell them about the Hindu symbol. Why would someone do that? That's like selling this app on an online drugstore. People in Germany know the swastika as a Nazi symbol. People in India and other countries in the east use it as a symbol of good luck and prosperity. People in their respective domains know what it is and how it is used. People using the Mac app store know what this app does. The situation mentioned in this article is similar to a guy from Germany triggered that the swastika is displayed in a car/house in India.

Modular programming, instead of just coding? Will this new OS be more reliable than WIndows-10? Will this new OS be actually designed for desktop and laptop PCs for business oriented users? I guess we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, good old reliable Windows-7 just keeps chugging along--getting the job done reliably.

That’s ultimately the problem with Apple’s review department. They get a bunch of what I can only assume are interns and let them loose. You can submit an app three times and literally get three different reactions.

This was also my first thought, but the second thought was different... I think they abadoned it, because nobody is using it. As there aren't Windows Phones anymore, i can't imagine people holding letters in front of their PC Webcam to scan documents, as they do with their phones. Windows tablets are still a thing.

  34. Alphabet workers announce the formation of a union

Apparently someone fully invested in Corporate America Kool Aid (tm). Literally all of what you wrote is wrong, except for the fact that occasionally unions protect ###### workers, just like corporate America frequently protects ###### managers. But the US manufacturing industry was not crushed by unions, it was crushed by free trade. Actually it's not wrong... I worked several years for a well-known Fortune 500 manufacturing company, and I saw first-hand how the union financially ruins the company. Demanded wages ran rampant (else strike), leading the company to close plants, fire a huge chunk of the workforce, and massively cut benefits. This company is still struggling the stay afloat. People can sleep on the job and the union will protect them, work can't be done unless the correct person handles the tools, people get "promoted" since they can't be fired, etc. The health and culture difference of a union vs non-union shop is dramatic. It's all fun and games for the employees that tend to get higher wages and union protection.... until the company finds loopholes to cut heads and level the playing field. This isn't some big secret. The US auto industry was corrupted by the same games... Replace union workers with 'lazy slaves', and notice everything you say doesn't change. These are BS myths told by business majors that are clueless to economics, labor forces, manufacturing, etc. This is crap they tell themselves to make their predatory mentality seem less ruthless. These are freaking people's lives you are playing with, all to test or push an agenda that is designed to increase wealth for a worthless few. This is no longer a philosophical debate, there are actual facts and numbers that dismiss every subjective example you use. We have the numbers of supply side and top down economics for the past 40 years, we no longer need to pretend it is 'theory'. It is crap and works like crap and harms the work forces around the world. and benefits a small few. When people look at Apple's cash or worth and wonder how mass stockpiling like this can happen, and allowed to happen in a way that is demonstrably a harm to the economy and society it exists - the answer is simple, supply side/trickle down BS of 40 years, with corporates only adhering to profit motives instead of operating in the interest of the community they exist, as corporations existed just 30-40 years ago.

Just because there is a social approved association with something, doesn't mean it's always that Just like the color rainbow didn't start with LGBT,....you get the idea I am not sure why you thought I wasn't aware of the history of the Swastika? The fact it is meant only one way 99.9% of the time today especially in the west. Ya, but the world doesn't just consist of the 'West', does it? In fact, there are far more people using the Swastika on a daily basis unaware and unconcerned about what you and people of the 'West' think. So by popular usage, shall I say your opinion on the swastika is invalid? See where this is going? Context is everything. And to agree yet also disagree - context is more than just a popularity tally. Look at the level of evil that was commited under that usage in "the West" (why are we quoting this?). That also adds to the contextual stance. I'm not disagreeing with you, just enjoying the fact that people can at least acknowledge context Some people think their perspective is the absolute truth. Quoted it in a sarcastic way to say that the Western world isn't the entire world.

  48. No one expects "PAID" anything from CDPR. If they think anyone is buying anything from again they're delusional. If they try, I will simply download it via torrent and share it with everyone I know. They're done collecting money. As the consumer I have that power. I have no issues giving them more money. It's a fantastic game, I've been pretty much trouble free on PC and they're committed to fixing problems.
