Polish government eyeing free speech social media law
wingliston and 5 others reacted to willgill for a topic
I never thought I'd see the day that Poland protects freedoms better than the US. While some are pointing out social media companies are private, so are newspapers and broadcasters. They must adhere to laws that social media seems immune to. There also seems to be a double standard with small businesses and to who they may or may not serve. There are haunting similarities to the Nazi rise of power: Nazi party was officially "National Socialist German Workers' Party" and promoted as a government for the people to give them back what they deserve. They started with a meager 2% popularity. They then took advantage of media and current tumultuous environment to spread propaganda. After gaining power, they bought a newspaper (Völkischer Beobachter) and controlled the message of other papers. Opposing views were squelched and those opposing leaders ostracized or executed. Poland obviously remembers the horror Nazis inflicted on them, while the US has forgotten.6 points -

Eww. Why are we moving back towards boxy laptops?? That's not going to bode well for watching movies designed for widescreen viewing (which... They pretty much all are, soooo...) Dislike. Wouldn't go with a boxy laptop unless there was literally nothing else on the market. PS- they better not phase out 16:9 completely... The Rev will not be happy... >:-(4 points -

WTF is even "native" software anymore. The browser might as well just be another runtime now. If anything, electron apps are less gross than Java apps ever were. electron apps are heavy and slow, I ditched postman that used 500mb of ram and started in several seconds for a native app do the same, use 50mb of ram and start in a second3 points -

Well, yet again, Teams development team is focusing more on design (I am familiar with Windows and MS apps overall inconsistency) than on fundametal features like configuring Teams via GPOs (cruial thing for VDI environemnts). What about disabling auto-start of the app? Another example is auto-start of MSI installation where "OPTIONS="noAutoStart=true" simply doesn't work and start (install the app) it for any new logged in user...and many many other things which are pointed out via uservoice for very long time already, with many votes.3 points -

Awesome! Ever since HD started becoming popular I've always disliked the wide aspect ratios. It might be good for movies (and that's debatable in my opinion) but for computing more vertical space really helps. I hope we start seeing more taller monitors for desktops also. And are there any Ryzen-based laptops with a taller display? At the very least, 16:10.2 points -

I use a Macbook regularly and I find the touch bar to be completely useless. Most apps only use it for one or two functions so 90% of it is wasted space. You lose 12 keys with tactile feedback to gain 2 keys with LCD display. It's just bad.2 points -
