Google to limit Chrome sync API following audit
Skyfrog and one other reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
There is a lot wrong with what Google is doing here and what they did. The API itself is worthy of many discussions, and then there is how Google allowed the data to be stored from the API, then there is how Google allowed unmonitored data to be stored in the visible portion of their user data block, and finally why Google will only allow their own product to touch Google authentication in this context and the profile/sync data the API provides, which was originally for being used similar to how it is being used - except by non-Google companies, even with the user giving them permission. So there is security, monopolistic behavior, poor API design, Chrome leveraging, and Google walking back access to data even if the user wants to be able to use it with another product. Google is still just as anti-competitive and ###### as ever. Consumers can't sway them, and even government threat can't sway them. It is going to come down to privacy and digitally specific laws to get them to stop doing questionable, evil crap that harms consumer, governments, and global markets they meddle in.2 points -

You do you... I will, I prefer to use local taxi companies, where the drivers are vetted. You have no idea who the Uber drivers are, they are not vetted and could be an axe murderer for all I know. Uber will put local taxi companies out of business, thankfully they are not here, and I don't think they will come here or any other taxi company like them. It is bad enough we get cabs here for another city not so far away. You have no idea who the taxi driver is either. Guess what? The Uber driver doesn't know who I am either. LOL BTW Uber drivers go thru a background check. I am pretty sure drivers are more likely to be assaulted than the rider.1 point -

Ha ha! My grandma received a notice that she was able to get her vaccination but it was in Birmingham (she's just outside). She said it would be too far by public transport and I suggested that she could take an Uber. If she hadn't been told in another letter that she could get the vaccine closer to home she would now have another reason to try them! That's great of Uber to make such an offer, although 4,000 codes could disappear really quickly. But I guess you are talking about £60,000 of lost income with that gesture.1 point -

You might think cheap equipment is the only thing that will happen, but look at Africa, how they're pretty much colonies of China now with no way out. Do you ever post anything factual? Actually, the part about China's activities in Africa is correct. China has heavily invested in African countries buying mines, farming land and natural resources and they have been doing so for more than a decade. Several of these countries have become reliant on Chinese investment to prop up what is often a struggling economy. They are not anything like Chinese colonies though. Only if "colony" in your mind is strictly about a bunch of Englishmen and Frenchmen sticking a flag in the desert and forcing the natives to go to Europe and fight Germans in WW1, sure. But China lending money to an increasing and ultimately impossible interest, claiming all valuable resources in the ground and leaving them bare, and building towns and shopping malls with only Chinese people in them, is pretty much a colony by 21st century standards.1 point -

Abortion is intrinsically evil, so naturally one should oppose it if the person has any semblance of basic right vs wrong. because those who don't respect life at it's most innocent stage, which is in a mothers womb, tend to go off the rails in other moral areas to. that's why the left is so messed up nowadays as once life becomes disposable in a mothers womb, they tend to support a lot of other immoral things to. it's like they get their way with one immoral thing and move onto the next, where does it end? (but it's not surprising as the left see's morality as subjective, where as those on the right typically see morality as objective which is based around Jesus Christ and He's clearly against abortion. those who disagree here have a distorted view of morality) what the left essentially does is put a persons "choice" higher than a persons right-to-life when, when obviously, it should be the other way around. hell, look at how each political party labels the abortion issue... pro-life vs pro-choice. one tells the issue like it truly is (i.e. pro-life (everyone should have a basic right-to-life)), while the other (i.e. pro-choice) sugar-coats a immoral/evil act under the guise of a "choice". the left basically makes it easier for people to kill their own child, how can that possibly be a good thing? the left always tries to claim those on the right are denying their "rights" when it's just them pushing for more and more moral decline. those against abortion are not communists. the left is definitely more inline with communism than the right is as they want more and more control over the common person unlike those on the right. but many are very blind in today's world where what's generally been good for ages is now bad and what's generally been bad for ages is now good. 'Isaiah 5 : 20' sums up many in today's world. Out of interest, do you have any reference to Jesus saying he is against abortion? If you're gonna claim someone is clearly against something, you better have some reference point to back that up. What is your basis for saying they tend to go off the rails in other moral areas too, because someone supports the right of abortion? What makes this more than just an assumption on your end? Do you even know why people take abortions? Or have you just made assumptions about that too? Do you realize the kid would not have got a good life in the vast majority of cases where abortions happen – it could be killed after birth, along with its mother; or it would have parents that couldn't care for them; or they would lose their mother at birth and the kid and their siblings would grow up orphans? No one wants to have an abortion, most people who go through it doesn't do it easily. People who see things in black and white like you do, those are the ones that generally cannot make morally good choices. Because the world isn't black and white, choices you make are not black and white – if you had to sacrifice your life to save one of your kids, but that would leave your other children starving, what would you do? How do you make the right choice in such a situation? You, who want children to suffer and call that good, you are the one who fits the description of that verse.1 point -

Ah I think Sennheiser has spoiled me because after the CX 400BT earbuds everything else pales in comparison. I really do appreciate the bass of the Enacfire earbuds, but as I said it tends to get grainy as you turn the volume higher. It's good but not excellent, at least not for me. To each his/her own mate, I'm glad you're satisfied with your product that's what matters at the end of the day 😁 I'm going to be reviewing the Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro pretty soon so stay tuned 😉 Ahh, the Sennheiser. I've heard a lot of good things about those and from the people that reviewed them, I suspect they are right. I could see how you might find anything in MY price range as inadequate. The Liberty Air2 is the most expensive phones I own. They sound good but the ear fatigue is tremendous. If you feel like slumming a bit longer, I also love the EarFun Free Pro. Now it has controls for ANC for what its worth but the sound is outstanding to my virgin Sennheiser ears. I am still interested in your opinion just the same.1 point -

Why are you including MS? They are a software company. MS has it's own hardware unit (Surface, Xbox, accessories, a.s.o) and they are rumored that will design their own custom AMR SOC. Is the last statement is true or not, we will see. Yeah but there is a big difference here. Apple is a hardware company that also does software. They build hardware in house. Microsoft is a software company that also does hardware. They source it. It is one of the reasons I'm saying they won't catch up with Apple anytime soon. I expect they will release perhaps a decent competitor to the chromebook in a year or so, but not the M1 or anything that follows it anytime soon. Its really not on MS to catch up though, its not an area they have ever taken on themselves. MS doesn't need to catch up, CPU manufacturers do.1 point -

You must be like Flossy Carter with this Max Volume test. He's always testing at Max Volume. I don't ever get distortion. I own a pair and they are the some of the best earbuds you could get. I like these more than my Soundcore Liberty Air 2's which cost me twice the price. The thing about these is they are loud. And if you are a bass head as I am, you are in luck with these. My question is, how in the world can you even listen to them at high volume and why do it? My ONLY bugaboo with these is the way you have to flip them backward to put them in the charging case. It is damn near impossible to do in the dark. I would give these 8.5 Easy.1 point -

In the UK, the UK government did all the spying. Having worked for T-Mobile in the past (now EE), the amount of government servers in our server rooms was an eye opener. The government had a direct live feed of every phone call, SMS, email & data sent over the network. The data was only supposed to be viewable with the approval of a magistrate, but the Government & police only make token applications to make it look like they were following the law. I could tell you far more about what the UK Government does by proxy for the US Government with users data, but that's a story for another day. But everything you've ever done online or over a telephone is logged & archived. It's also surprising that government data collection goes as far back as the late 1940's. And UK & US intelligence agencies have been taking advantage of memory/firmware vulnerabilities to syphon data off for decades. Even your printer isn't safe. Yet people have been brainwashed to believe that China & Russia are the problem. The US & UK have surveillance operations running out of Russia & China by the way. Looks good for finger pointing when traces are uncovered. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-55634388 I love how all the companies mentioned in the article essentially state they regret the language ended up in their patent documents, however they really do not deny or condemn the actual act of identifying a specific race or ethnicity for any purpose whatsoever. Wonder who was benefitting from this data collection?? Any tech companies have all kinds of patents, it doesn't mean they are actively using them all. Again, nothing to do with 5g though. Anyone working in telecomms will be updating the firmware on their infrastructure regularly to patch vulnerabilities. And if data was being leaked back to China or any other location, it would be extremely obvious to see where network traffic is heading to! I've yet to see a single report from a telecom company accusing Huawei of stealing data or facilitating an actual leak.1 point -
