Another reason to use Kaspersky. I don't think Russia will hack their own software.

That cant be real surely. They have done Touch ID on the power button on the iPad Air and it works well. If real then that is a terrible design

I'd rather have the touch id on the power button or an additional button on the side rather than a cutout in the display

  12. Netflix plans to launch a 'shuffle play' feature this year

I've never used it, also because if I decide I don't like the recommendation it is not easy to clear "continue watching" suggestions. Netflix should maybe make its user happy with being able to clear media that has been already watched from "My List" to start and remove media it thinks I want to continue watching.

Looks like just another boring generic computer desk, what's so special? Then again I've never had much interest in "gaming desks" anyway. I'm still using one of these old O'Sullivan computer hutches I bought in the mid 90s. https://i.imgur.com/ZLqAc78.png

  17. Vodafone says it can't offer free access to BBC Bitesize

Their stance is logical and right. All website are equal. Any preferential treatment to any website, no matter how noble it may be, is against net neutrality. "Instead of zero-rating Bitesize, Vodafone has offered 350,000 free SIM cards to disadvantaged children to get them online." This is similar to what the government in my home state has done. 2GB/day to access the Internet for students. While how much data and how effectively will it be used is another debate, this is a viable alternative. https://www.republicworld.com/...ay-for-969047-students.html

  18. I am surprised how unpopular this policy change has become. We've watched Instagram and Oculus become Facebook-ified right before our eyes despite the outcry. Guess, it takes a WhatsApp to actually make an impact. All major companies, not just Facebook, have been encroaching on our privacy for many years and consumers at large have been indifferent. People are now at least aware of that. I am happy.

  19. Motherboard help, hanging at startup splash screen

Just to bring you all up to date... While brainstorming the problem with some tech savvy friends it was suggested to remove the graphics card and just try running on internal graphics only. I thought my daughter had tried it already, but suggested it to her anyway. Lo and behold it worked! Windows had a little freak out and wouldn't start properly, be a quick auto-reinstall had that fixed and she could boot into Windows with everything intact. Then she reinstalled the graphics card, and it's all working again. Very odd. I'll talk her through doing a reflash of the BIOS just to make sure there are no hidden surprises waiting for the future, but otherwise it all seems to be good. Thanks for all who provided ideas and input.

  20. EU fines Valve and publishers €7.8 million over geo-blocking

THE EU IS THE DEVIL signed, the UK and conservatives globally Here, let me fix this for you: the UK conservatives and conservatives globally and other con artists and grifters. From the "EU is evil campaign" - Sponsored by Putin and Nuts in Russia - the biggest benefactors of EU mistrust and dissolution. Anyone else actually follow Farage and other idiots? One of the biggest Brexit backers recently moved their entire production and company to France from the UK. Because... Brexit was beyond ######ing stupid. The "EU is evil BS" is crap from countries that want the EU gone, just as they also want Nato gone and the US to stop supporting EU countries. Putin got a lot of this BS with that fool Trump. Even with its flaws, the EU has done a lot of good. Just as the 'united states' is better off than Kentucky fending for itself. It worked really well for the USA. Since the EU is essentially an informed emulation of the USA - 'conservatives' in the US that say the EU is bad, are arguing the United States sucks - except they are so ######ing stupid they don't even realize this.

well they invented the notch and people embraced that bs.... all for the sake of "MOARRR SCREEN" without considering symmetry or cut borders on consumable content Apple most certainly did not invent the notch, the Essential PH1 had it. Apple just made it (ahem) "popular"...

  24. It's up to the citizens of your country to weigh the pros and cons of being part of a single European market. If the benefits are not good enough compared to having to pay more for video games, then you can leave the EU like the British did, and become more like India. Also : would it be fair that it's cheaper in Hungary, but not in the poor neighborhoods of Barcelona for example?

  27. LG is considering leaving the smartphone market

Just when I thought they had a great comeback with the LG Wing. Is it just me or what? Any smartphone player/manufacturer I put my weight behind either turns evil or dies. Google (became evil), Nokia (zombified), Windows Phone (dead zombie), YotaPhone (dead), HTC(briefly, now MIA), Apple (privacy? they just wanna lock you in), Fairphone (outdated), Huawei (for the hardware, banned), LG (mulling closure), Sony (hanging on).

  28. LG is considering leaving the smartphone market

I think in situations like this, companies might do better to abandon their pride, if that's what's at stake here, and just use stock Android as much as possible. For years people have complained about LG's UI and lack of software support, and I feel like a simple change like that would probably require less work and result in better word of mouth for LG.

  29. LG is considering leaving the smartphone market

Agreed, but sony won't, as having a smartphone market actually helps another market they're in relating to patent licensing (and I can guarantee the other market is far more profitable) sony are really bad at delivery. lots more people would buy their phones if availability was greater. they announce something, then you cannot buy it, while other more exciting phones are available right after the announcement. they are so bad. i have xperia 5 and i am replacing it with xperia 5 ii now that it can be had for more reasonable amount of money, but damn, s21 is already available (they removed sdcard and 3.5 jack that sony has, but i almost went with samsung because it was available right away for similar pricing) LG ON OTHER HAND - it was obvious, they kept changing strategy - AND NONE OF THEM WORKED WELL. seriously, i knew it is headed this way since G5 with useless attachments and still the same bootloop.

Aaaah chrome. These days I only read the release notes an hope for some nifty features to drip over the Edge. Worthwhile stuff in this release I hope they carry over is: - Less Intrusive Permission Requests via chrome://flags/#permission-chip - Tab Search via chrome://flags/#enable-tab-search

  31. Malwarebytes says it was targeted by SolarWinds hackers too

Kaspersky and NOD32 have been the best AVs for over a decade now. No one knows about them either. .. Good lol. I will never use NOD32 due to it literally corrupting every single attachment in my legacy Outlook inbox. I don’t use Kaspersky...for obvious reasons Although I stopped using Kaspersky (Windows defender is now mature enough for my non-pro usage). I did use Kaspersky since the early days of internet in 2000s. And truth to be told, it has always been top notch detecting and blocking stuff left and right. And thanks to it, I was never hit by any virus or malware of any kind, despite how common they were back in the day.

Not really good at 1080p with max RT on if you asked me. Besides games going forward are going to be more demanding. Even at 1080p or 1440p I'd personally not go any lower than the 3070.

  35. LG is considering leaving the smartphone market

Just what I was thinking. Only reason I see that Sony hasn't pulled out of the market yet is pride. Fact is that the Chinese oems have flooded the market with good speced and good priced phones for a while now which has accumulated the maturity of the smartphone market. It's topped off, can't do anything now but fight over the scraps. When even Apples iPhone is posting lower numbers what are the others going to do?

  43. Netflix membership passed 200 million in 2020

i think amazon doesn't really have to do a lot with their library because most people see streaming as a bonus with amazon prime rather than a core feature. it's a really clever ecosystem lock-in feature. Disney just has so much content that goes across so many age groups that it'll be a major player. CBS is just Trekkies. The true CBS demographic (senior citizens) are fine with OTA and cable. Peacock has a really good shot to be up there. HBO because of their huge movie push.

  47. Hungary could copy Poland in sanctioning social media firms

Hungary's prime minister, Orban and his corrupt party has bought up using taxpayer money virtually all of the press and media in country (with the exception of a few independent stations and publications), where they spread lies about their opposition and do not allow the latter to appear by any means and express their point of view. Because of that the majority of Hungarian people and the opposition is now using Facebook to communicate and to distribute and share information about Orban's corrupt government and the possible forms of opposition. That's why Orban and his similarly corrupt minister Varga want to also somehow moderate Facebook, Twitter and other media channels, so, their corrupt dealings won't be exposed there either. They invoke "free speech" but in reality they're the one who are the greatest enemy of that concept, and who are trying to silence their opposition by any and all means possible. This is just their latest attempt at going one more step further in that direction.

  48. Connect to your PC remotely with Chrome Remote Desktop from any device

It works fine in Edge. I don't use Edge, but hasn't that now become a fork of Chromium? I guess that would explain why the extension works. yes it is, but is faster and lighter than Chrome, another option for you could be to use Chromium, I guess it's even lighter and still support the extensions (but I didn'y personally try it)
