  1. Microsoft confirms it has halted PAC donations

Their votes were not a protest vote, the full intention was to delay certification and setup a commission to halt the transfer of power. If you see ineffectual protest votes as the same thing in the context, you aren't paying attention or have listened to some nut say that past protest votes were the same - which is pure ######ing ignorance on their part. Whoever you heard that from, stop listening to them or fact check their BS. Please. These Congress Members also continued this stunt after the lives of their colleges and the VP was in serious danger along with the invasion of the US capital. Since the attack we have also found additional information about participation by these same congress members in the attack and in conjunction with Trump's AG plans to stop THIS CERTIFICATION by pre-empting it through the power of the DOJ. (Stuff that at least a chunk of them were participating in.) Even if companies like Microsoft want to say it was based on the 'metric' of the vote, the overall picture is that the vote was just one piece of the puzzle, and the fact they continued with it after the attack is dangerous. We live in an era that people don't have life experience with the context of how serious and dangerous the actions of these people in congress, along with Trump's idiocy. If Trump hadn't been so stupid, any semblance of democracy or the US itself would be done. Look at how far the manipulation and propaganda got. We are in a time when people that identify as anti-fascists are treated like boogie men by the Trump right. How in the ###### did the same country that helped stop Hitler's fascism BS, now have half the citizens THINKING anti-fascism is bad? WTF, right? (Hint: ANTIFA: Is not a group or organization, it is an ideal, and never used to be divisive.) If there is not recourse for his actions and the congress' actions, someone that is smarter will be able to pursue a similar plot of manipulation and give idiots a tasty chunk of anti-democratic authoritarian BS that many personalities and non-intellectuals like, as they don't have to think things through and can just get their ideals from propaganda like Fox or an insane leader. The attack and the vote was the apex of a series of actions and plans, and members of Congress were participants. THERE IS A REASON MOST THEM went through social media and other communication and deleted stuff. Before the VOTE. They knew what they were doing. ###### them, they were willing to rip congress apart to keep power. ###### them. IT IS ANTI-DEMOCRATIC. Not that long ago, in other western countries, these people would have already been put to death and beheaded. The constitution they wanted to ignore is why these ######ers still have their heads. Their participation was insurrection. PERIOD.

  2. Microsoft confirms it has halted PAC donations

This article will obviously garner political comments. I wonder who will be the first this time to complain about it as though they were held at gunpoint and forced to read it.

Punishment in the case of a PAC is as simple as not giving them money again and supporting their future competitors. If the PAC is big enough and has enough influence then a good chunk of money can dry up. All within their legal right to do as well, since we're talking about the law here. Companies like people support politicians who agree with some policy they like, just how you like them personally depending on what they say they're going to do. Nothing about the above is new, only that these shifts in support are now more public. Personally I think donations from PACs and so on need to be limited more if not flat out banned. Money for political favors is a large part of the problem with politics right now around the world.

PS: This is also the fruits of Free Market and Laissez-faire Capitalism - that these people have starved children to promote, push, and protect. ###### them. This is ultimately not an argument about what they did, but what Microsoft thinks of them. So ###### them. **Maybe government control and regulation and restrictions aren't as evil as they tell the goofs that vote for them. Citizens have nearly ZERO say in what Microsoft does, but Citizens have 90%+ say in what the elected officials do. Maybe the rights wing ######ers will pay attention to facts and statistics and let go off their governance and economic policies based on anti-democratic 'free market' bull ######.

Look, I'm clearly not a Trump supporter (didn't vote for him in 2016 or 2020) but members of congress are within their right object to the counts under U.S. law. This has been done by both republicans and democrats in the past yet there was never any pushback. Then, like now, it was a useless effort that has zero chance of changing anything and was simply a show of opposition. Why is this one all of a sudden any different? Is it the inflammatory reason they used in their objection? They don't need to have a valid reason to object. It would have been just as legal if they had objected because they think the moon is made of cheese. Regardless of belief, I can't support punishing people for committing a legal act.

They wanted to overturn the election. Plain and simple. It is nothing but a big fraud on the people of the US. Doesn't matter what they 'intended'. What they DID was 100% within the legal construct of the rules governing congress and U.S. Code. You may not agree with them, you may hate them but punishment for following the rules is a bad path to start walking down. I disagree. Some of these objection lawsuits relied on possible libel and slander to get ahead. Several others may have tried to deceive the courts. That is absolutely not following the rules. There are several potential civil and criminal cases ahead.

While the events could have been 100% legal ... you can still "punish" them for making, echoing, and enhancing the bad faith arguments which were rooted in disinformation (election fraud). Even after the states certified the results, even after the Electoral College voted, even after countless lawsuits were tossed and/or lost ... these knuckleheads' still dared (even after a bunch of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol) to stand on the House/Senate floor and continue spreading disinformation. I think it is well within Microsoft (and others) rights to "punish" by withholding their donations.

  11. i expect they'll largely cut their loses. It's clear that the game is a mess beyond just a few bugs. it's actually just a bad game. they need to start the witcher 4 and put cyberpunk 2077 behind them. start the next one if they want, but this one is too toxic. I would also prefer Witcher 4 faster but i wonder if they will commit to the 2 paid DLCs for Cyberpunk or not (since the team is big fixing far longer then expected when the paid DLCs were promised. There are fans of the game (esp on PC) that will be mad if the DLC will not come though. Making CD project even less popular with crowds over Cyberpunk Honestly - I was waiting for this game since the announcement. Longest I waited for the game and I am a cyberpunk genre fan. But this game just did not emotionally connect with me the way Witcher 2 and 3 did (and I was not a fan of the genre much) So I would love them to just drop expansion packs and move back. Them, writing new engine at the same time as a game - from scratch - nothing worked out. Then again - if they keep patching and also release DLCs - I can see myself revisiting this game in 2 years - in my 40 hours play - 10 hours were GREAT. Just got boring quickly with terrible side quests and when I realized the characters were empty.

  13. Beeper promises to make iMessage work on Android and Windows

I can agree with you there... I wish Apple would just make iMessage available for all. Too late, it’s a dead, useless platform. The penalty of a closed wall system linked to specific hardware. Dead platform? LOL #facepalm A phone in general is a secondary, niche device to me. it just needs to work and E2E messaging is more important than if it's Android or an iPhone. Most of my ###### is done on the desktop (Linux and Windows) but thanks for your concern. Not sure what point you’re trying to make. I believe you... We all our still mystified by your original comment.

Kelly's Heroes rocks. I've got Sunday lunch with the family, but now I'm in a WW2 mood. This afternoon I might watch Where Eagles Dare.

News of the World starring Tom Hanks and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just watched a classic war movie on Netflix titled Kelly's Heroes. Great movie, that don't make them like that anymore.

  18. Definite marketing stunt: be your own savior! Honestly, the hike was probably NOT properly authorized across ALL required channels... so a higher-up simply stepped-in and vetoed the hike. It makes no fiscal sense to cripple your own product's revenue growth plans by stunting the subscription model by doubling the price! In other words, somebody lost their job today... or, they rage-quit by publishing this price-hike on a Friday. I feel like it was the opposite. Some higherup thought they could get a few bucks more per customer and then people below him stormed his office "What the f are you thinking? You are getting 2 more dollars/person at the same time you are losing 50 people". I would use the "Spending 100USD to save a dollar" but can't think how to reverse it properly. From my experience working at HQ (just a couple yrs ago) this kinda thing (un-authorized price changes) happened every so often. The typical scenario was that whilst one person responsible for some P&L (profits and losses ledger), the corporation has other sets of eyes who must bless these changes (regardless whether it's enterprise deals, consumer products, consulting bids, etc.). SO while the Legal and Finance teams might've said "okay follow these checklists to complete any price changes [provided you've got all other required corporate blessings]," the program owner might've proceeded without related stakeholder and/or higher-up blessings... and that could be why the retraction happened so swiftly! Heck, maybe there was going to be a price change planned... just not DOUBLE! Maybe the 2X was an internal typo w/o Finance approval... or Marketing stepped in after providing more details to the impact... or maybe... =) Yeah, I have a feeling somebody lost their job over this. It makes sense they could retract this so quickly if they never approved it in the first place. Though I have hear rumors that Microsoft already shipped some 60dollar/6month Live cards to retailers and they canned the 12month card some time ago, so it might have been planned after all but the backlash was indeed huge.

  19. Let's be real, a lot when wrong here from project management to an unclear vision for the game. I'd say the biggest lesson from all this is the danger of announcing a new product before you've even committed to it. It's exciting to tell fans what's coming next and share what you expect to work on next but yeah if you then don't work on it for another cpl of years, you're gonna have a bad time.

I just looked it up. Ohh what a mess. Graphics look good though. But the plot is all over the place If I had kids I would consider this though Right now I cannot name one movie I want to watch this weekend so I am reading books instead until something good comes out.

Another cheap Mediatek phone that will probably never be updated like most of them. Yay! \o/ Sounds like another Elephone, a disastrous rip-off of a company.

  22. Blame shareholders who pushed this game out a year-2 early. Lol no. Blame CDPR. 7 years and 3 delays and this is what you get? Even NMS played better at launch. This fiasco came about because of terrible project management. I think if any of us were stakeholders in CDPR, we would expect a playable game in 7 years....

  24. the biggest problem with this game is that it's boring. Witcher 3 is tied with original sin 2 as my goat single player game. Cyberpunk bored the snot out of me and i simply stopped playing it after 15 hours because it was too uninteresting.

Why do you always have to post stupidity like this? Anyone who has a different opinion than you is not a terrorist. Grow up and think for yourself for once. BTW My ISP has not reduced prices or increased speeds (the last up in speed was before Trump) since the appeal of New Neutrality but they have asked to impose data caps.

  32. Show us your PC Setup - Bonus points for RGB

I have no rgb these days, however bonus points for retro rgb? The metadata on this photo says it was taken on 23.01.2004: This was the first PC case I purchased. I believe it was the cool thing to have neon light strips in your PC at the time, I then expanded upon that with a few additional case fans I got for £1 each that were a few different colours. Pretty sure at the time that PC contained: Athlon XP 2200+ 512MB SD Ram 80gb and 120gb IDE hard drive GeForce MX 440 Windows XP These days I preferer my PC to be incognito and not light up like a Christmas tree, as nice as I think modern rgb is on setup photos!
